Why would you want that?

You realise the guy we bought to replace him scored twice yesterday against Premier League opposition?

I do, and I'm not saying Ba was not a good buy. I just thought Sturridge could've been given a proper chance. He was mismanaged through the entire season and the board showed no faith in him whatsoever.

a 23 year old, really good prospect starts just 2 matches and a couple other subs as a 2nd striker for half a season while another player who was underperforming was continued to be given time, so let this be a lesson to our board never to do that again and to show some trust in our youngsters.

I think the board do trust young players (Azpi, Moses, Oscar and Hazard are all younger than Sturridge) but there was a feeling that he simply wouldn't be good enough to lead the line for a top club so actually made a fabulous business decision and replaced him whilst making a profit.

A lesson to the board?

What do you think is going to happen? Sturridge is going to become a legend and the best striker in English football, and the board will be kicking themselves? Highly unlikely. The board are never going to regret the decision to let Sturridge go. It was a good piece of business. And while I agree that he should have been given more chances, he has always been a player with more arrogance than potential.

the players u named are already proven (to a certain extent). they were starters in their own team before coming here. what "chance" i am talking about is giving some1 who we have bought at a very young age, who is not proven but needs some chances and a lot of trust. for me sturridge definitely had that potential (unluckily the board dint). as far as profit is concerned, thats true but we could have done much better had we given him a chance, his worth could have been a lot more.

At this rate, we should just keep all the players that we buy and let them rot to death at the club when they aren't useful if people are gonna overreact everytime our ex-player scores!

I was annoyed with the board letting him go but he has been sold. Time to just let it go and move on.
