Amblève. 4,995
His movement was on another level compared to Torres' but his finishing was as poor as the Spaniard's. As far as I'm concerned I don't know what's worse: Sturridge fucking up chances or Torres not getting in the right places for possible chances. Rubber bullets 1,183
I really wish he would light up at the thought of becoming a winger. He has all the good things needed, just needs a more humble attitude and better decision making. Do that and he can easily become one of the best wingers in the PL. The lone striking role is not for him in my honest opinion. He is much more suited and deadly on the wings. The board should get 2 strikers in January
OneMoSalah 8,886
Good movement, poor finishing. The sort of things you associate with a winger. Muzchap
Las7 951
The question is should Sturridge play until the winter transfer window or we should persist with Torres and his link up play - to me this is an easy question. Beigl 1,387
Missed his chances wastefully today, but I think he played upfront still much, much better than Torres. His link up with Mata look´s quite good.I hope he will start the next few games instead of Torres, with more playing time he is going to score for sure. Things that Torres is not capable of. Hopefully, RDM has taken note of this. Muzchap
BlueJewel 56
I thought Daniel played really well, he could have done better with his chances, but at least he manage to get some and wasn't afraid to shoot. Something everyone needs to remember is that before this match he had played only 73 minutes of premier league football. He can only get better with more minutes. RamiCFC9 258
Yes he missed a lot but he was there to score taking chances ! Also his link up play looked pretty impressive this game, he has improved alot in that aspect.Ill defend him till the end because the guy is trying to do the right things and hopefully with time given he will improve. ja1 1,166
Sturridge's link up play is no worse then Torres. If he could finish he'd be a great striker. This is the first time in his profressional career that he is playing as a lone striker (compared to, say, Lukaku who has been a lone striker since he was 16). If people are willing to give him a few games to get into things I think/hope he'll produce. Torres was given the same, I.e. chances. Giroud was like Sturridge today, lacked panache in front of goal, but when allowed to settle is now one of their biggest goal threats. Sturridge could go either way, but I just hope people give him a chance. Las7
Tomo 21,751
It was actually refreshing watching our forward shoot, getting involved and making himself available. Is he the long term number one forward? i doubt it but right now he is the best (well only) striker we have. didierforever and xPetrCechx
different level 1,056
When I see him with the ball I feel like punching him in the face, knowing he'd most surely take a wasteful shot, destroying our attack. xPetrCechx

Some people would rather compliment Sturridge on his courage to shoot and there is nothing wrong with that as long as he remembers he is not playing alone in attack which most of the time he doesn't. Well, it is your right to be happy with him after the WBA game. I personally, after him missing at least 4 clear chances, am not
didierforever 7,349
Well, it is your right to be happy with him after the WBA game. I personally, after him missing at least 4 clear chances, am not atleast he got in positions to score. 1.the over the defense mata ball should have been chested instead of being headed, but a wonderful run behind the defense (absolutely impossible to be expected of torres). 2.the over the defense mata ball (yet again) but difficult to get there, if only he could get his feet to the ball, but a difficult chance nonetheless and again torres would have given up much earlier instead of chasing it. 3.the thru ball by mata, excellent run between the defenders and then great ball control to go one on one and just unlucky not to score (it was a great save too),if it was the blonde bitch instead of him he would have lost the ball as soon as touching it. 4. the best chance for me. truly at fault for it. should have passed it to mata. so as I see it, this guy is a BIG UPGRADE for us from the blonde. so no reason for us to be crying over it. Styles 9,790
Ok he missed some chances today but AT LEAST HE WAS IN A POSITION TO EITHER MISS OR SCORE! Torres had ZERO efforts on goal. Not one. ZILCH.If today didn't prove that Sturridge HAS to start as a striker then I give up.Isn't it funny how our supports boo and shout at Sturridge when he does something silly but chant 'TORRES TORRES TORRES' every time he falls over the ball or ruins yet another move? Makes you wonder doesn't it. Las7, Peace. and daBlackMamba7
Popular Post! Kieran. 6,317 Posted November 17, 2012 Popular Post! Share Posted November 17, 2012 Look how many more chances we had when he came on, he's SO much better than Torres. Just give him 2 or 3 more games and he'll be firing. He has to be #1 until January. Las7, HRiver, chelseathebest and 4 others
The Skipper 20,609
Sturridge's finish isn't at his best because he hasn't been given an extended run. Give him 2/3 more 90 minute games at CF and he'll regain his touch. He actually has a good finish as we can attest to last season.
