Honestly, I can't blame him for choosing united. It's his best option, imo, and I'm not talking about the money. He'll be a nailed on starter and start almost every game. The pressure is much lower with no title challenge or CL, but it would still be a massive upgrade on Southampton. We're forgetting that he's still a kid and he can still develop and gain consistency and experience...etc.

I think even if he goes to united this summer, we might still see him in a Chelsea shirt in a few years time.

It's not like he's choosing United, we haven't even made an official concrete offer for him. United are the only ones that have.

I don't follow transfer rumors too much so I have no idea who has or has not made a bid for him, I'm just saying that united would be perfect for him. And if like I read on the past page here a deal with united is close then he would actually be choosing united even if there aren't any other offers on the table atm because he knows and we all know that if he stalls to the summer there will be loads of other offers for him.

Of course he has. He can refuse to agree personal terms with them and the deal would be off. Likewise, the club can refuse any offers below 30m. It depends on the relation between the club and the player (and largely on how long left he has on his contract).

It's up to Southampton if they want to deal for a lower price but generally speaking both camps would try to come to some compromise. We're definitely interested in him but if he wants to sign for United and stand in a press conference next to whichever manager they get in then that's his choice.
