It appears more and more of you have bought into the Hazard Myth.

It looks like you're happy with little 5-minute cameos here and there. He is not world class, in my eyes. I'd go as far as saying he was our worst attacking player yesterday. The amount of times he lost possession was hilarious!

Oh yes it's insane that he has managed to become our 13th all-time top scorer despite being so mediocre. 🙄

I can understand some unpopular opinions but yours is pushing it.

Not to mention he was key in our last 2 PL titles.

I never said he's mediocre. Another typical Chelsea fan who is blinded by the odd backheel. I said he isn't world class - there's a difference. Certainly not anywhere close to the levels of Ronaldo and Messi.

Even though Eden is easily our best player and I love the guy to peices... I have to agree with you here. He is World Class but the bias towards him on thsi forum is nothing short of sheer ignorance at times. Some actually believe he is the 3rd best attacking footballer in the World..... he isn't even close.

Oh you had me figured out!

The term world-class is debatable, but still there are things to consider here. The main one is the fact he has arguably been our best player post-2012 with qualities almost every expert in the world of football has acknowledged. You saying he isn't world class might be the most judgemental remark I've ever read by a football fan, let alone a Chelsea fan.

And you know, even Messi and Ronaldo have bad days. Your argument isn't convincing at all.

Noone's close to Messi or peak Ronaldo. At least the top 10 players in the world should be defined as world-class. Give me 9 attacking players who are better than Eden. You can't.

On redcafe theres a poll going on "who is better, sanchez or Hazard" 60% pick Hazard and they just signed sanchez ffs

I wouldn't say hes not world class but I get what you mean, he doesn't have those goals and assists to put him up there with world class attacking players and quite frankly I don't think he ever will even hit over 20 a season in a league season. Which is why I think as a second striker he can do better.

He is just too laid back, sure he will play excellent in some games and look at a level above everybody in the PL but the guys like Messi, Neymar, Ronaldo, Dybala... they are constantly striving to beat somebodies goal tallies or to beat their previous tallies. Ronaldo and Messi are superhuman in comparison to everyone else (well Messi is a different level to Ronaldo entirely for me but), I think somebody like Neymar or Dybala has more chance of winning the Ballon D'Or than Hazard, because they are driven to be the number 1 player in the world, Neymar left for PSG so he wasn't in Messi's shadow.. that says it all. Dybala is probably going to leave Juventus in the summer or next for a huge club and become a top 3 or top 5 player in the world. Defenders are also extremely underappreciated when it comes to these sort of things but different story for a different day.

Its frustrating because we all know how good Eden is and he clearly knows but he seems very comfortable to stay at the level hes on. Not that hes lazy or that etc but its just a minor flaw I think, hes confident but he isn't looking to surpass what hes done in football, sure it may sound like he should be more selfish yeah and it might hurt the team but Ronaldo and Messi have won these awards churning out these amazing numbers and consistency for years when their teams win massive titles or not. Like mentioned in other threads, on this forum and other social media platforms as well as the fanbase at games, there is a percentage who seem to believe than Eden cannot get any better because hes at Chelsea as opposed to what I think, that hes not as driven or ambitious as a Neymar, Messi, Ronaldo etc. He could become a top 3-5 attacking player in the world here, only he can do it though. Which is why I laugh every time I see "he needs to leave to play with players of a similar quality" but for me, the great players can make those around them look good.

There isn't much in it between Hazard and Sanchez for me.

Hazard is in the top 10 players but i would place Messi, Ronaldo, Suarez, Neymar maybe even De Bryune (current form) in front of him.

Luis Figo never scored more than 14 in a season yet he is widely considered as one of the best players of his era!!!

Yes maybe but the likes of Messi and Ronaldo have shown that people can put in great performances consistently and also score lots and lots of goals. That is why people regard Ronaldo and Messi the best of all time (disagree about Ronaldo but Messi is definitely the best of all time) That is probably now a days what people expect from the worlds best. Hazards goal output will continue to hold him back in these things.

Messi's undisputedly the best, but Ronaldo has sacrafised the authentically pleasing side of his game to pad out his goal stats, i liked him as a player much much more at United. Messi's godlike greatness shouldn't distract from how great Hazard is and Figo was. I personally wouldn't want Hazard taking ten low percentage shots a game to score 1 as while that may finally give him the credit he deserves both he and us would be worse off for it in my opinion.

Think Ronaldo since moving to Madrid, dribbles less and shoots more yeah but his game intelligence is so vastly superior to what it was in the PL I think. He ghosts into spaces, runs less, can still play 1v1 if he needs to etc. Authentically pleasing side of his game gone or not you cannot say he isn't better for it. Figo was excellent player as well I don't disagree. Hazard doesn't need to shoot every time he has the ball but there are so many obvious times where he should and he doesn't, until he gets this ruthless streak or nasty streak whatever you want to call it into his game and starts hitting 20, 25 a season minimum then will he be considered a potential Ballon D'Or winner once the likes of Ronaldo and Messi fade off but I can see Messi being a contender for another few years yet because he is just an irresistible football, he is phenomenal.

Can't believe this discussion... It is widely considered among fans of all clubs in the world that Hazard is one of the best in the world. So many former star footballers have said he is just a little off from Messi and Ronaldo for people to dismiss his greatness in football.

Dybala has not a great season.

And since Conte, he has improved on forward role, as seen on how he plays with national team now.

And sure it wasn't his greatest match yesterday but you can't dismiss how good are other players and how it affects play.

Look how our players in defence and midfield had difficulties yesterday even when they had the ball, Arsenal could gamble knowing the players would not go past them.
