Joker10 946
Lampard is 34 in 9 days, he can't play 3 times a week anymore even 2 is pushing it.Ramires should be first choice with Lampard playing the experienced squad role, less is more when you get to the age Frank is now.But Lampard is better then Ramires in the double pivot tho, we have seen that this season. And if you watched Ramires with Brazil during Copa America last year you would further be convinced that Lampard is much better suited in that role.Ramires has glaring flaws, like his passing, first touch, and close control. Ramires has his qualities, but those qualities does not suit the double pivot.Lampard has the better quality for that role. We have seen Lampard not make or few of his trademark runs into the penalty box since switching to 4-2-3-1, that is a credit to his intelligence and tactical discipline. He is not going to be caught out of position or see our midfield be overrun and he is also much better in tight space then Ramires. Sure Ramires is more dynamic, but with the attacking players we are going to have next season Lampard is much more needed in that role. But like Tomo already said, Frank can't play two, three times a week. We need another player for that role. That's why I'm hoping the club is looking for a central midfielder. There are plenty of options around. Sheva.

I guess, the perfect choice would be Fellaini, but after we solved this problem, we have another one... What will we do with Rambo? I guess he could play on Mikel role against the smaller teams. He and Fellaini could solve the defensive questions, and they can support our attacks. Agree? We should send a message for Roman, or RDM

Chelsea are likely to play over 60 games next season. Also take into account the toll this season's cup runs have taken on our players, coupled with the Euros and Olympics this summer and we need a big squad to cover this. Everybody will get plenty of games.People cannot judge Ramires in the pivot role solely on the Napoli away performance. He played alongside Meireles, both of whom are box to box style midfielders. Playing alongside a more defensive minded player gives Ramires the ability to use his box to box running, especially when counter attacking. His finishing and composure have improved immensely this season, and you can see how confident the lad has become now settled. I actually think his ability for explosive running, particularly from a deep position will make him very difficult to pick up and stop, very much like Lampard used to be. I think he can be a success in that pivot role given the chances. In regards to Eden Hazard, fantastic signing. Very glad it's all gone through done and dusted. And I'm also both intrigued and excited that he said one of the biggest pulls towards moving to Chelsea was that he was sold on their project. I firmly believe this is only just the beginning!!! Josh20 4
I hope, he doesn't 'use' Chelsea in order to join Real Madrid or barcelona later. That interview on the French radio station in the afternoon made me a little worried about it, but hopefully i'm just too paranoid Btw, welcome to Chelsea, Eden! I know that Chelsea is not his last club, but it would be good to have him for 8-9 years, rather than for 3-4 years.

manpe 10,861
First people were paranoid about whether he was trolling us, now they're paranoid about whether he'll go to Madrid in the future...True. Overthinking can drive one mad, it's not healthy. I don't know how about you guys, but I won't waste another brain cell on the Hazard saga. The official announcement was meant to relieve your nerves, but instead I see people now foaming over Real and Barca, ridiculous. If he decides to move on later in his career, then fine, it's not like everybody we sign have to be Lampards or Drogbas. Just enjoy watching him play.We have his signature on a long contract which stretches to his peak age, that is the only solid fact we have right now and it's a pretty damn good one. I will be back in the transfer thread in some years when rumours about his imminent transfer start circulating, but meanwhile... chill. bababoom and Term-X

If he ends up having a Chelsea career similar to that of Mr Ronaldo at United, in terms of trophies won and performances produced, before departing for Madrid 4 or 5 seasons on for double/triple the money we paid for him, I won't be too disheartened.I happen to think that he may take a season or two before we really see the best from him. But when we see the best, I do mean THE BEST!

Fhaarkas 39
Wow heard this great (expected) news first thing in the morning.@Real - If he wants to play in a competitive league he'll stay in EPL. Real and Barca are where players go to feel good about scoring a lot of goals against sub-par opponents, and claim they've broken every record. apexbbq 2
I hope, he doesn't 'use' Chelsea in order to join Real Madrid or barcelona later. That interview on the French radio station in the afternoon made me a little worried about it, but hopefully i'm just too paranoid That quote is being blown out of proportion. I don't know whether or not you speak French, but none of the english translations really did the question justice. The hosts of the show asked him why he chose Chelsea over big clubs like Barca or Real Madrid. THEY made him mention those teams. The transcripts omitted that. He responded by saying that chelsea was a big club too, and that he would get more playing time at Stamford Bridge anyway. His quote was without any hesitation and he didn't indicate any desire to play at those clubs whatsoever. In fact, throughout the interview, he was rather emphatic in his choice of words, and he appeared extremely confident in his decision.Of course, when the hosts asked him if he would ever play in Ligue 1, he hesitantly responded, "peut-être, peut-être" (Maybe, maybe). To me though, he was saying that because he was on French radio, and didn't want to absolutely rule anything out. It didn't sound like he was actually considering it. The commentators also tried to get him to admit that he might play for PSG in the future, but he said that he wanted to play in a stronger league (EPL).So yeah, don't worry about it.
