Neymar only scored 4 goals(9 games) in the CL and 13 in la liga (30 games). Yet i'm sure he'll get a lot of votes. 

Goals are important but also don't underestimate the exposure players get when they play for Real or Barca. It's on a different level then us.

Balon dOr is a popularity contest.

No way he is getting ahead of Ronaldo, Messi and Neymar, they are the most marketed players and Eden simply isnt such personality. For same reason Ramos is getting more praise than lets say Chiellini.

I don't think anyone can get ahead of Messi and Ronaldo yet, but if he was playing for some team which is playing more attacking and attractive football, it would've been a lot more beneficial for his progress and for his numbers of goals and assists. And also the players around him would help him a lot. Just remember how effective he was with the likes of Eto'o or Drogba on the pitch. I hope he can create a good chemistry with Morata also.

Neymar doesn't even deserve to be on the last 3 podium based on his 2017 and not winning jack with Barcelona but they'll find a way to sneak him in there regardless because he sells jerseys and has many followers on social media. Farce award.

Don't know man, on an individual performance he was better than that whole MSN combination. His role in the comeback versus PSG can't be understated either. Top scorer in Brazil's successful WC qualifying campaign too iirc. It's not like he doesn't deserve to be in that top percentile bracket imo.

He was categorically not better than Messi last season. Any Barcelona fan will tell you this. Don't let whoscored's overblown stats for him fool you. He wasn't even in the same galaxy as Messi last season who is still easily the top dog there. When you're getting outscored by Iago Aspas maybe you don't deserve to finish top 3 in ballon d'or.

I agree with you entirely, as much Neymar was brilliant in some games, he was awfuly selfish and held the ball way too long in big number of games last season.

But I dont agree on this; When you're getting outscored by Iago Aspas maybe you don't deserve to finish top 3 in ballon d'or.  

Neymar or whoever else, top 3 or even top 10 should not be based on who scores more. Goals are important, but its not everything. In this case, Neymar is still 10 times better player than Aspas.

Balon dor has become a popularity contest. Neymar is one of the most popular player in the world other than the messi and CR.

Personally I don't care anymore who win Balon dor. It used to be interesting when messi and ronaldo era has not started. Now it is like only these two can win it. Yes both of them are fantastic player but not sure they deserve it every year.

Ronaldo will win it this year, not sure he deserve it, not the best player in la liga last season, not best player in UCL, not the best player in euro so it is hard to say that he was the best player last year.

We're lucky that he just wants to enjoy his football, and not push himself to win as many awards as possible. He understands the importance of laughing + avoiding stress. 

With that in mind, I think he's more likely to end up at Barcelona than Madrid. Madrid & Munich would be too depressing and serious; Serie A would bore him; we won't sell him to a PL rival; and that'd just leave Barcelona, and PSG - which wouldn't be the most stupid move for him in a couple years time. In fact it'd tick every box. I think it'd be really beautiful watching him play at Barcelona, though. The only question there would be Barcelona's funds. So, PSG it is? Or genuinely spend all his prime years here? Which from 1 perspective would make him a fool, from another perspective make him one of the wisest players around.
