Jaded in the sense that you're so upset by these transfers that you can't help but acknowledge they're the way of the future. And I hate to break it to you, but our beloved Chelsea were one of the clubs to start all of this nonsense with a certain 50 million pound player. As much as you'd like prices to go down, I guarantee that they won't.

Real Madrid were amassing Galacticos almost a decade before we signed Torres.

I know I sound cynical, but Traore will probably never start a game for us, and if he ever does feature it would be in 3 to 4 years time minimum.

Not to mention, he's a winger.

I'm amazed that in a Pogba thread people so readily write off our youngsters. It is funny.

Why on earth would Traore or Baker get minutes when someone like Lukaku who has performed damned well for multiple Premier League sides can't? Please help me understand!

Yet you've been a Chelsea fan since when? You won't stop prices from escalating! TV deals and revenues dictate where the market is going and as long as those figures keep rising so to will player salaries and transfer fees.

The fact is there aren't many players who you can say justify a big price tag like 50m, least of which David Luiz! We were awarded a rare opportunity to view a transfer as a swap out, not too disimmilar to Mata for Matic. We can afford to add one of the most sought after midfielders before he enters his prime, the situation we're in is what makes it tantalizing. Had we not sold Luiz I wouldn't go near Pogba for this amount but the fact that we got so much for him makes it easier to digest paying such a fee for a borderline world class box to box midfielder who Juve don't have any need to sell. You pay it because you think in time he will be worth it but you won't have an opportunity to later.

what does the time I'm a fan have to do with it?

I'm here since 2003... and I'm a RM for more than 20 years, so now I don't know what I'm talking about because since the end of the 90's Perez and some other crazy people went mental in the idea of Galacticos and having RM to be the club with the most expensive transfers in the history of the sport?

I'm used to teams spending huge amounts of money in certain players. While I've always thought Cris was worth every penny Crazy Perez spent on him, Bale can become the next Messi that I won't agree with that transfer price because he was sold as EPL Youngest player of the Year (not even Player of the year, if I'm not wrong, but even if he was), not as the Balon D'Or winner or finalist...

Dude... we stole the sheiks with Luiz... doesn't mean Roman should be stolen too...

Traore probably won't and Baker should go on loan because whilst he's a nice player, I think he lacks that top, top class composure and touch. I hope he proves me wrong though.

I'm talking more about the likes of Van Ginkel, Chalobah and Loftus-Cheek, possibly even Ake. Those are 22, 19 and 18 year olds and we're talking about signing a guy who is only 21 and was essentially let go by United.

For someone who is so adamant on controlling spending you've picked two clubs that are far and away the antithesis to your protest!

Chelsea can afford to spend escalating transfer fees. The fees go up because the shares have gone up, teams have more money than every before and its not secret so to get the desired player requires you spend more than you might have even a year ago! The new TV deal makes it as such. Chelsea won nothing last year and have 150M to spend in the window....

This is an absolutely fair point, and I'd love to see these guys grow with the team. I also feel as though Pogba has performed extremely well playing at a much higher level than any of those individuals. Van Ginkel is still a question mark after the injury and the others have never played in the Premier League. I think they need more serious loans before you can bank on them as key pieces.

What's the rush? Van Ginkel will be in the squad next year the others have to get better before they are ready to play for this squad.

How do they get better? I'm not a believer in loaning being the best route but I'm not a footballing expert, I would give them 5-10 appearances in the first team.

How much money do you think was returned on their investment when Bale scored the Champions League game winning goal? Doesn't matter that he didn't win some award in England.

But still at some point they need to be given a chance, just like Pogba was.

Spending such an inflated fee on a player when you might have homegrown alternatives just seems a bit unnecessary.

You may be right but we'd be dumb to hold spots for players because they're homegrown. I'm a firm believer if their good enough they will play! They may even have a slight advantage because they are english.

If they end up being World Class its a good problem to have in my opinion

Once again, fine point. But what do you honestly expect Chelsea to do here? Play these youths or go buy someone expensive? Be honest.

Well, you certainly just answered why you support Chelsea... I don't support those teams because of how much they can invest and I've been a Madrid fan before the Galacticos thing... since I was a kid, 10 years old or something when all way in Brazil I had no idea how much those players were worth... I'm much happier with Azpilicueta's deals than with buying Pogba... boom, I should go support Arsenal then...

I'm too old for the likes of you guys. I'm for real. I don't get this new generation and how you see things, so on my part I'm done with this discussion...

Also I disagree about the winning goal. That was Ramos'... there was no way Atletico would hold back RM for 30 minutes and that's why the match ened 4x1...

Get decent cover in and incorporate the youth. Our chances of success aren't dependent on signing Pogba.

Just like Pogba at United.

Sports are a business, hate to break it to you.

And he scored the goal that put them ahead, aka the winning goal.

I didn't say necessarily buying Pogba, just another marquee midfielder. Chelsea are more inclined to buying talent right now. How can I be the only one who sees this? I feel like I'm on crazy pills.

Actually I haven't answered anything, all you gotta do is ask though!

I never said you support them because of how much they spend, YOU SAID you loathe the idea of spending crazy prices for players yet you support the two clubs who are most guilty for doing just that! I'm a little older than you so my reason for supporting Chelsea has more of a political tinge to it but hey to each his/her own.

And LOL at the last bolded section...
