Sure, I could give it a try if you upload it somewhere. Not sure if I have the right players for it now but never hurts to try. :P

Needs to be close to fluid to work well, check the match odds before the games and drop deeper/much deeper when favourite/heavy favorite, leave as is when equal odds, against better teams push up and change mentality to standard (I never use offside trap anymore, leaked too many goals).

Let me know how it goes, have no idea if it works for lesser teams =)

Edit: the SS should have decent pace, technically you could use a striker in that position if he's fast

Cool, I'll start preparing my team for it right away and should be fluid before the start of next season.

Schürrle might be a good fit for the SS. I've put him on a very physical training program, most of his physical attributes are now around 17-18 and he's got good finishing too.

I rotate Schurrle and Hazard in the SS spot, Schurrle is definately a good fit!

You should get quite some goals from your CM's as well.

Premier League title already in the bag and about to face Monaco (again, lol) in the Champions League final soon!

Rodrigo's amazing by the way, top scorer in both the PL and the CL.

edit: Won the final 3-0, two goals from Rodrigo and another by Schürrle. However, some cunt just bought the club and is thinking about replacing me with Luciano Spalletti. Nice funding from the new owner though, out of the blue he tripled the wage budget from £1,0m p/w to £3m p/w and also announced a plan for expanding the stadium with another 15000 seats.

edit2: Survived the takeover, would have been ridiculous if I'd been sacked after winning the double. The new owner also handed me an additional £80m to play with on the transfer market.

@Weckerz, your tactic didn't work too well for me. Defensively very solid but neither Schürrle or Rodrigo were able to make their mark in the shadow striker role so half-way through the season I moved the forward a bit further up and switched the role to false 9. It's working much better now and in the second half of the season my team was playing some great football. Used the tactic for a full season and got myself a bunch of minor trophies by winning the Community Shield, Uefa Super Cup, Club World Cup, League Cup and the FA Cup. Finished third in the league and got knocked out of the Champions League semis on penalties.

Schürrle got over 30 goals overall playing up front but key to success was the massive contribution from the central midfielders and wing-backs. My main CM pair Barkley and Ward-Prowse got over 30 goals and around 50 assists combined and even the wing-backs Shaw and Coleman got themselves around 10 goals and 10 assists each. Will make some more small adjustments to the tactic during off-season but I'll definitely stick with this one for a while longer.

Yea it turned sour for me as well for some reason. The ME is so weird this year, can't wait for the february patch. Glad your tweak works though, might try it myself.

  • 4 weeks later...

Took Wolves up to Championship from League 1. At the moment it's end of the season and I've brought in over 10 new players. Will post the transfer history as soon as possible! I like the fact that it is possible to bargain with agents now and you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for a player.

Didn't see the thread for this!

I'm managing Dortmund at the minute, into my 6th season now. Won 5 Bundesliga's in a row and confident I'll win this years aswell.

Haven't won the German Cup or the Champions League though as Bayern and Schalke have twice since I started, this year will be the year I'm sure of it.

Playing a 4-3-1-2 at the minute, changed it from the 4-2-2-2 I was playing as Reus got injured for 9 months. Just came back now and his stats have turned shit.

Got Wolves to Premier league in 2 years, 2 consecutive promotions. Not much of an achievement as Wolves are a rather rich club with already a decentish stature.

If anyone wants to start from League One and is looking for bargains:

- Björn Sigurdarson - a beast striker playing for Wolves, used him as false nine in a controlling 433. Average rating was 7,4. Scored 11 odd goals / 7 assists as a back-up to Doyle in League 1. 30 goals / 9 assists in Championship and at the moment is keeping a bit lower ratio than 1:1 in Premier League (3 games in) while rotating with Mattia Destro (got him for 1,7mil from Roma in 2015/2016 season summer window. He is la machina if trained correctly as he has a high potential). Wouldn't say Sigurdarson is PL material though, decent back up at that level.

- Kevin Davies - starts in Preston, only bought him a year later at Championship level. He averaged more goals than games for them in League 1, by far the best striker in that level with 37 goals and golden boot award . In Championship was a solid backup and never disappointed. Will retire in start of 2015/16 along with Luca Toni.

- Jonathan da Silva - the sooner you get him the better. To me he seems like a wonderkid, a very good argentinian left back, who plays for Estudiantes of Argentina. Will come cheap when you're just starting. Cost me 5mil after a season (milked them with 48 month payment!). Though 19 years old, he will be your starter LB till..well.. you or he retires. 4,5 potential tells it all.

- Joel Lindpere - Estonian winger/midfielder. Averages 7 or above rating in L1/CH. Cheap buy from Chicago Fire, low wage demands, a bargain.

-Wilfried Bouma - free transfer. Bouma especially will score goals for you from corners as a CB.

-Sodinha - his attributes tell it all. A set piece maestro with 20 long shot attribute, 18 free kick, 16 corner and all that in League One level means easy goals, thank you very much. He is an attacking midfielder, AMR if I'm remembering it correctly.

If anyone's interested I can do a review of my purchases for Wolves on Championship and Premier League level.

Might give Wolves a go when I finish in Dortmund. Would you recommend them? What are the board like with Youth improvements and that? What was your first season transfer budget?

Seems a great save to build something with, as I'm sure your starting squad is capable of winning League One and getting midtable Championship. Doyle and Jamie O'Hara big players?

Doyle is great (35 goals in L1), sold him in my second year to regenerate funds as 2-3 good players > a superstar. Jamie O'Hara starts injured and is in reserves, will be a big player if you use him. Sold him as soon as possible to have a good balanced squad with depth.

Wolves are definitely a good way to go, they have decent stadium of 30k+(so no need to bug the board and cripple your transfer funds for years to come), very good youth and training facilities. Do not sell Bath the center-back like I did. He will be good! Coaching staff is rather decent, a few exceptions to the rule but not a big deal to bring in some new faces. First transfer budget... was it like 2mil? I'd keep it for rainy days come summer and promotion to CH. Plenty of free transfers and cheap bargains to wriggle your way up the standings. Wage budget wasn't that bad also, can't remember the sum exactly anymore. Second season you'll get 5mil transfer budget. In PL level you'll get 12mil and a decent 500k weekly total wage bill. Selling players / letting them go will make room for higher wage/price players every year. Managed to do an overhaul every summer window.

Doesn't seem to bad at all. I'd recommend Dortmund aswell, Loved every minute of the game, bar the Champions League failures.
