Lampard is a cam, not a cm......

When he moves to Miami next season, Beckham going to make him play cam while he sips some patron and enjoys the great miami weather...

really?? no one told rdm/rafa/avb/jose that. moreover for the last 2 season lamps has been winning european titles while playing in the CM/DM position. so now i am a bit confused!!!

Beckham's the owner and not the manager.

If Lampard moves there he will easily be the best player in the MLS. He will play wherever he wants in Miami, no matter who is owner and who is manager, they will probably build the formation around him.

And btw. Lamps is an offensive no.8, a box-to-box midfielder, not a CAM. His position is the most advanced of the 3 mids in a 4-3-3. In modern football where everyone plays 4-2-3-1, his position does not exist anymore, cos all no.10s do not go back to the own box that often and interchange with the wingers. Lamps never did that, but worked defensively almost as hard as offensively, but most things he did in the middle of the pitch, be it his awesome diagonal balls, vertical passes, tackles, build up play or whatever. CAM does come much closer to his position than DM. Lamps often looks a bit forlorn in the pivot, because he played a different position for 10 years. That Maka-Ess-Lamps midfield was the most complete midfield ever, cos all three were the best in the world at what they were doing respectively. That midfield was built around Lamps and rightly so because he was the best.

You have to be kidding! Schalke are ten times the team that Newcastle are and let's be honest, the scoreline really flattered us. Schalke played very well and defended excellently while the game against Newcastle was probably the easiest match (bar Steaua) that we've played this season. There was so much spaces, no pressing, it was just so easy to go and score but we just failed to perform. Jose himself said so.

disagree - not really talking about quality, but pressure, physical game, etc.

Away matches are always tricky, especially defensively.

Evidence A: We killed them in the away game

Evidence B: look at their line up? Would you take any pick? For our B team perhaps?

But the Newcastle game really wasn't. There was absolutely no pressure on our players in midfield and tons of spaces, especially in the first half.

Imo Lamps best asset right now is his goal-scoring ability, and not his passing, defending, running, workrate etc. So he should be playing closer to the goal not farther. That said though, if he's going to be used as a CAM then it'll be down to sub appearances only for when we need goals cause if he starts there then that position requires him to be able to play in tight spaces and be good on the ball, both things that he not good at anymore.

Hell, I'd even play him as a striker considering he'll probably need the least amount of scoring chances on our entire team to get a goal.

Lampard has never been an AM. I remember when we used to play a diamond formation and lampard was at the Tip and it didn't suit him at all. And that was when he was in his prime. He's better playing deep so he can make late runs into the box. Think the only formation that suits him is 433.

sorry I don't go with the idea that we win when we want. Newcastle defended in the their own half, played a very physical game. Let us have the football but allowed us no space in the final 3rd (where it matters).

Were we sluggish only because it an off day, or Newcastle had something to do with it? I like to think that our opponents have some influence in the game we play, even when they are technically inferior. It's not the only match we are going to struggle against an inferior side, especially away from home.

Shalke were embarrassing against us esp if you take both matches. Because they let us play while newcastle decided they could not beat us, so they tried not to let us play. Completely different strategy and big teams tend to struggle more when the smaller side takes newcastle stance. It ahs happened one too many times.
