Frank Lampard

He was still playing 35 times a year so it wasn't reduced much. We definitely need to upgrade at CM but the grief Lampard gets has been ridiculous for the last few years. This year so far, according to Sqwuaka, Lampard is 4th in overall performance, 4th in shot accuracy, 7th in chances created, 4th in defensive duels won (62%), 2nd in average pass length, 8th in passing percentage, etc...Yes, we need to upgrade and Lampard gets worse if he plays too much, but he's hardly the hole in the team people seem to want to believe.

Don't get me wrong im not trying to say he offer's nothing because that clearly isn't the case but he is in the stage of his career where is game time needs to be managed carefully.

Why should we be ,just watch a replay of the second half v Spurs and see who had the power, speed, and stamina, in the big game.

So you're giving Lampard the credit for Ramires providing those aspects to our midfield in the 2nd half?

Yes they worked very well together.

Did you see Rammy v Fulham? He was awful, there is a developing theme here.

The word is,it is Rammy and Lampard tonight and even the Mikel fanboys can't argue with that after Spurs, can they?

We need a win and sitting back letting the opposition dominate and create chances is not on the agenda.

Playing Mikel does not equate to sitting back and letting opposition dominate, don't be so ridiculous.

You just have to look at the Everton game to see that what you're proclaiming is pretty much just fueled by your weird hatred/obsession with Mikel. Granted, we lost that game but we dominated and created enough chances to attain a comfortable win - and Mikel was one of the better players on that day. Everton have the highest possession average in the league yet we still dominated - so your theory doesn't quite add up.

Besides - I thought Mourinho didn't rate Mikel and that Mikel would primarily be a bench player? What happened to that argument?

No-one is questioning his commitment, or his merits as a player. His value as an icon of the identity of this club goes without saying - which is why everyone wanted Lamps to stay.

My remark concerns his current ability to carry a midfield, both qua power, speed, and stamina, and definitely in the big games. I don't think at his age, that he brings enough to midfield to compete with the big clubs. I hope you're not too embarrassed by that.

I disagree, i think he brings more than enough, and his heart carries us the rest. I am sorry I just disagree.

I don't hate Mikel he seems a real nice guy,he is just a poor player, you fanboys may like him because he is a nice guy,but my only consideration is the effect he has on the pitch .

When Lampard plays we score attack and win, when Mikel plays we defend concede and lose

Is Jose a fanboy of Mikel as well then? If he was such a poor player Essien would've played a lot more games and minutes than him this season.

How to anchor and boss a midfield ,not just sitting back and plugging imaginary gaps of your own making aka Obi Mikel.

Frank and Rammy our first choice midfield pair, confirmed . Class and legs and bite a great combi that compliment and take the game to the opposition and support our three properly ,backing the play up in tandem as well as recovering their position when we need to defend ,without one just sitting and holding hands with JT & co .

Excellent finish for the goal. He needed that as his shooting has been a bit off lately.

This is exactly the kind of games that Frank should be playing. The games where he can have the freedom to make as many forward runs as he wants and get a lot of space to find passes in midfield.
