He just actually might be serious, wanna try other leagues etc. But his wages are a huge issue, no udt wont get him, city wouldnt dare now that they are under the scope. Psg wont either unless one of mbappe or neymar fucks off. We sure as hell wont, juve has ronaldo...forget bayern. With FFP being set aside for this window, it is about the perfect year for a PL team to get him. I don't know how Barca profits paying him a million a week? That is insane.

2. Barca are probably 2-3 "proper" transfer windows away from becoming an elite side again. 

3. The Barca hierarchy have elections next summer. To which Messi will be 34 and there is no guarantee Barca will do away with their current incompetent board members. 

4. Messi has maybe 2-3 more seasons at the top level. 

 

I think given the circumstances, Messi would be wasting his final seasons at Barca.

Maybe its his biggest powerplay yet to get Bartomeu to resign. He's been trying for years.

As sensational as Messi is, might it be smart to rip the bandaid off now and start their rebuild post Messi? It was going to happen soon anyways. Rather than paying a 36-38 year old Messi in a few years £1m a week when he has declined, break from him now and build a new team.

The fact Messi is willing to buy out his current contract, suggests the drastic measures he's willing to take. 

No doubt he'll take a wage cut just to play for a top side again.
