Barcelona don't want to pay what Saul wants for his salary, while Atletico can't pay all of Griezmann's salary. Saul considers better offers from other teams and Griezmann remains calm because Barcelona need him to leave. At the moment, Barcelona must amortise the remaining €72m from Griezmann's purchase. They prefer a swap to regain some of those millions so that they don't incur more losses (player + cash for Griezmann).

The situation is now a little more complicated. The negotiations between the two clubs took place without Griezmann knowing. And the salary difference is significant. Negotiations are continuing but Barcelona must find a solution. If Barcelona are to go fast, their boards will have to agree to make up for the Frenchman's shortfall in Atletico. Barca categorically reject the idea for now, saying it would be better to keep him then. But to extend Lionel Messi, it seems unreal. On the other hand, Barca are still in talks with Saul, a meeting is scheduled tomorrow with his agent.

Think it might be an understatement to say that every time (or at least in recent years) Arsenal have bought a player from us, it has not gone very well.
