Yes.

Even his passing wasn't up to scratch. But he didn't really have much involvement when he came on anyway, so it's not something that can be used against him.

With all do respect, I think you need to watch that second half again.

I thought he was very involved in every play. And all the analyzers of the match on the channel I'm watching can't stop saying how Frank was the best man on the field since he came on.

I really think his rotation of the ball is a bit slower.

but why do we need to play a thousand km/h..look at teams that play great possession i.e. barcelona, they play in three gears slower to lull teams to sleep then they have a regular were they knock the ball around with fluidity and they have a 3 gear wear the string 5-6 passes together within a span of 10s..hence why they are so successful...

Mikel is necessary because of his ability to cut out passing lanes and win the ball in the middle and he plays good forward passes to advancing cole and bos..

Keeping the ball and waiting a bit to make a better pass is much better than releasing the ball for the sake doing that quickly.

Yeah but when you compare to other DM he is a bit slower.

I still wonder how David Luiz will do if he play that role.....

I must disagree. But that's just my view

Today's team was like a breath of fresh air. Honestly like I loved that match, I dunno how they played in their last game because I didn't see it but there were so many positives tonight. I'm loving our new signings, I'm loving Sturridge's confidence, I'm loving Lampards half games ;) I'm loving Luiz in general. I just felt like it was a great team performance and it wasn't too slow and I dunno maybe I'm a loo la but seriously I'm buzzin. My heart broke a little bit when that goal wasn't given to Torres but hey he did good, great little pass to Mata at the end, I could of kissed him! But most of all I LOVE our new manager.

I think Busquet passing is more precise and faster then Mikel.

Plus i am not sure if this is true but from the couple of games i seen Busquet does more forward passing then sideways and backward passing that Mikel does.

A class game. I liked the urgency and tempo of our play. The only one who kept Leverkusen at bay was their goalkeeper (Leiva?), what a class young goalie, unbelievable confidence. Mata was our best player imo, what a guy he is... EXACTLY the kind of player we've been missing past few seasons. And I was surprised that Terry and Lampard got rested, but I'm glad it worked out and that this team brought victory to AVB's debut. AVB certainly isn't afraid to take risks, experiment and rotate. Last season it would've been unthinkable not to play Terry and Lamps in a CL game. Sturridge was also sharp as always, only their goalie stopped him from scoring. Torres had 2 assists and a big applause to him for that. And David Luiz... man, what a player he is... Came from defence and scored a goal, his technical ability for a CB is immense.

Oh and i think the turning point for Torres in this game was when he stop being in a rush to score goals.

If he makes spaces, and does assist, is much better then nothing.

Best way to get out of this slump is to show people that you don't think just for yourself, are not selfish and care more about the team.

Well done Torres.

but sergio is a more mobile CDM then Mikel and his instructions are alot different as well as our team doesn't play technically in close spaces like barca..he fits their system where as mikel is still my first choice in cdm because he also covers our ass in the back when our voyaging CB fly up the pitch

Yeah this is true.

I wonder if it's because of this, he does not go more out attack like Essien does.

Have you seen how Mikel makes the next move for his teammate.

Busquets also passes backward!

thats exactly it Mikel can slot back as a comfortable CB good on the ball and in the air..as long as we play david luiz or terry on some occasions..a player like obi is needed

The media really do get on my nerves. The Sun already have an article up calling Torres a flop in one line, and on the next talk about how he set up both goals. But it's only mentioned in passing as if it was nothing. Not so much a mention of his all round good performance and three very close efforts in the first ten minutes. I don't like any articles to centre on one particular player. But if they do insist on writing about one player all the time, then at least give him some credit where and when it's due.

Edit: Happy with the performance for the most part. More entertaining than any of our EPL games so far.

Speaking of Davd Luiz its pathetic the amount of stick he gets for rash challenges, yes he makes a few but Vidic makes more rash challenges but gets widely regarded as the best defender in the league its pathetic.

Vidic is the best defender in rugby league.
