kellzfresh 7,229
Still don't understand why Manchester bought him for so much. It's not like at right wing, he offers much more than Januzaj. Its sad to say this, but mourinho knew this. He knew moyes was making another panic buy. There is no way mata is useful on the wing after so much failed experiments with us, with no speed and its impossible to put any of rooney or RVP on the bench without quarrel.Mourinho knowing moyes capabilites of a manager made sure his panic buy money was coming to chelsea's pocket to help mourinho fund players he wants. The_Flash 1,144
Mata did want to leave?? Hardly anyone big moves in January so he did have a say in it. chelsea wasn't the Mata show anymore and Utd were desperate to sign ANYONE so they did and paid way over the top for a player who was not playing. Jose said he Mata still had a job for us. Chels
Popular Post! BlueLion. 21,491 Posted February 9, 2014 Popular Post! Jase 43,479
Looks like this thread will be flooded with posts about Mata every time United plays, never mind when he scores and/or assists only. So much for 'get over it'... BlueLion.

Popular Post! bababoom 4,478 Posted February 9, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted February 9, 2014 At the beginning of the game Martin Tyler and Gary Neville was talking about Juan Mata, they were saying what a coup it was and it shows that they can still sign the best players in the world... Lets be honest here, as far as we know United was the only club willing to offer that much for Juan. He wasn't getting played here, Jose clearly didn't fancy him meaning his only real choice was United. In the summer if United get the likes of Vidal, Reus and Gundogan i'll be shocked. The United fans don't know it now but Champions league is a big deal, not only the revenue but for attracting big players. You can look at City for example and say they signed the Likes of Tevez, Toure and Agureo without champions league football, but look at their wage bill and lets be honest it was a great project for those players. United don't have that. Look at us for example, we were 7th and many of us said we wouldn't mind not getting CL, because it meant we can rebuild... looking back, how wrong were we? we signed Marin in April, and that was us preparing for life without CL football. Instead we won the Cl and managed to get Hazard. That's the difference. I'm not saying they cant buy big players, because they can, but lets say United were close to signing Vidal and City come in last minute, who would he want to join? City or United... Ryan Fong 2,776
Haha.. its funny how some people seem to think that Mata desired to leave.Chelsea wanted to sell him and made it clear he wouldnt be allowed to play for us. He was basically forced to leave.
duo11bluecl 207
Can't believe his career has been destroyed in the space of 8 months. From potentially going on to become the best CAM in the world to now not even playing well in a shit mid table team. Maybe he lives a bad life in his last life so now he is suffering karma or something  No in all seriousness I really feel for him, I MEAN REALLY REALLY REALLLY FEEL FOR HIM. His top level career has probably ended unless he leaves MU in summer which I doubt it.
manpe 10,861
So he goes to Man United without having any insurance that he'll be playing his favourite position? Wierd. I remember Mourinho alluding to the fact that they surely would have promised to play him as a number 10, now he's being stuck out-wide. Tbf it makes sense if United's strategy is to put in 81 crosses per game. Of course the strategy itself is unbelievably unambitious, but if they're going down that route, the wings are where you want him to be. Also Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher speculated that if United bought Mata, then it's a likely sign that either Rooney or Van Persie is going to leave in summer. Popular Post! bababoom 4,478 Posted February 9, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted February 9, 2014 He looked very average today, he just kept it too simple for my liking. For us he used to always look for a defense splitting pass and we had no striker ffs United have Rooney and Rvp.. Mata was just so ineffective. To think if Mata's not out on the wing Moyes gives him a 'free role', which long term wont work... Mata doesn't fit into a traditional 4-4-2 team. When Moyes signed Mata i thought he would finally change his tactics, it seems not. Another thing is that once Januzaj came on i thought he would do 1-2s with him, like he used to do with Hazard, but no none of that. If he wasn't keeping it simple he just hopelessly crossed it in the box... We know about Mata's faults, it's been well documented, but you cannot hide the fact that he is a tremendous football player, incredible football brain and technique. I'm not sure if it's United's tactics or whatever, Mata just seems very average for them. kellzfresh, The Mak, The Skipper and 2 others
