At around 5:05 Romelu says last year when Inter played Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League that he spoke to Havertz and advised him to join Chelsea. That was Kai's last game for Leverkusen before his move.

A true blue, even when he's been away from the club. 🤩

Got to admit i really enjoyed the interview, hopefully he can now go on and prove me wrong on the pitch.

same 😆

TBF, it's not like he's not a proven goal scorer (esp if we take United aside), so my main concern was always around improving the team while maintaining what we have. And I wasn't (still aren't) sure Lukaku was the solution for that.

All I can hope for is that however his presence changes the starting XI, that it's still a net positive in the end.

Didn't he also apparently tell Courtois and Hazard in  "how to beat us"?

Thing is, how many times last season (and arguably the last two matches ala Palace and Villarreal) did we see a cross whipped in with not one of our attackers making a run to the box? They are all either sitting outside the box or they instinctively made the wrong run.

We are always complaining on how we make the wrong decision in the build up in the final third, what if that is down to not having a focal point?

I have to admit - in the interview he sometimes looks like Didier himself.

He speaks like an older Didier.

He's always come across as a well educated person.

Always seems to say the right thing to the press.

Also, on the plus side. Seems to know a lot of the squad players, especially youth players like Mount & James

Was pleasantly surprised to learn that he's already talked to Havertz before too.

Hopefully means that he will build chemistry with the rest of the team sooner rather than later.

So was this a board signing or a Tuchel signing?

Tuchel has said the board asks him for his input on potential players. From listening to him speak over the summer I think he was focused on evaluating the players Chelsea has and the board was focused on bringing in transfers that Tuchel gave his opinion about and that we need. I think he is being very truthful that he does not want transfers coming in that would disrupt the talent we have. At this point Tuchel and our administration are in synch.

That's exactly what I'm unsure of. People don't like to hear it, but team management in football at this level can be a zero-sum game in itself, especially when you already got a strong side and a winner one at that.

So, while it's easy to identify an obvious problem (again not all top clubs employ that player), it's less obvious to know how much you will lose by replacing one of the players who made the team strong in the first place. Like I said, we hope it's a net positive in the end, but I daresay we don't really know that at this time.

This is a time we need to trust the club and Tuchel, since he seems to think it will be a net positive.

Came across very mature and intelligent in the interview. Surely has grown a lot. Looks at his leanest shape in years, has apparently cut to 93kg

Now he just needs to make it work. I just hope the pressure does not get to him.
