With Utd setting the price at 75m, it weakens our position with other targets. The market has just gotten smaller and dollars will be harder to negotiate. Whoever our target was we should've locked him up before anyone else, now we're left scrambling and negotiating from a weakened position. The club have shown a lack of ambition for quite a while now, any deal over 35m and we're hymming and hawwing until someone else comes in and grabs the player. This is a disaster... Yeah I don't know what is happening.

Proper small club mentality that is. Look at real Madrid. One teams with one of the worst transfers but they don't mind selling morata to buy him back only to sell him again because it can win them the CL. Everybody know Lukaku not worth 75m. Pure madness that. MU give them much more than it should be, like Pogba deal. Mino Raiola has the loudest laugh from all. And think it should not have any effect for another clubs. Yes, club will demand more money if they deal with MU instead.

Yes, club will demand more money if they deal with MU only. Market dictates price my friend. There aren't any available strikers who can score you 25 a season. Even if his evaluation is lets say.... 60m, with him being homegrown and prem proven you have to assume that 75m, though overpriced, fits with the current market. How much you think Real Madrid want for Morata? A guy who's never played regularly and never reached even 20 goals in a season? oldportblue and Cosmin

Everton bought him 28m from us, unless he win PL title every year for Everton since then, no way his valuation went up that high. Everton set the price take it or leave it price and with his agent help, MU bite the bait, lol. It should not have any effect on other deals at all. Again, that is happened on their own world. I couldn't agree more. It doesn't mean all this stories about Lukaku to United are true but definitely would be crazy to celebrate this especially if he's our main and only ST target from May. A little reminder: Alvaro Morata was connected with Chelsea until 2016/17 season ended, Belotti too. After that, only Lukaku.

Let me explain it to you in layman terms. If there is one gallon of water left in the world and you and I are thirsty do you think the price for water goes down, stays the same or goes up? Chelsea played their hand by telling Costa he's not needed. Utd don't have Zlatan... How many top strikers are even made available?

Leif 6,006
But while everyone's bidding on the already-made gallon of water, some shrewd few will slowly be collecting their own raindrops, without paying the huge fees. There's only limited supply depending on where you look, and who you listen to. oldportblue 547
he's still gonna sign for us, just watch. Lol, I wrote that sentence, basically to said that not much improvement with Lukaku since joining Everton, what suddenly make him worth 75m is beyond me. Let me put this simple. MU buy Pogba for 89m, but we seems will get Bakayoko for 37m now. No relation at all. Maybe you then arguing, 'hey it happened last year, it's different window'. Ok, now if we bid for Belotti and the player want the move, ask you this question, will Torino said that, 'because MU buy Lukaku for 75m, Belotti worth much more than that sum'? Lol, no way, we will get much more less than that. Â Â

And I hate to break it to you but Torino want €100m for Belotti, he just re-signed and his release clause ain't cheap so ya they will look at this shrinking market and put a mint on Belotti's head, you know why? Because the market dictates how much a player is worth.
Pizy 18,907
Getting myself more and more hyped at the idea of Morata or Belotti. Quicker, more technically gifted strikers. Something we haven't had at Chelsea in a long time. Not to sound bitter about Lukaku potentially going to United (because I did want him here and thought he'd do well) but I actually don't think he's going to take them to a new level. I mean, they had fucking Zlatan who is a level above Lukaku even at age 35 and they struggled. And he's a technically excellent footballer in addition to being the physical monster that Rom is. I suspect that Lukaku will get his 20 goals per season there but I also suspect that there will be a lot of frustration over his ability and his probable struggles against the better opponents they face. So, no, not the market, but the player's will will change the price.
