Moros 86
I can't see us selling Lukaku. Not only because he might still have quite a future here, but because we really have a shortage of English/Home grown players. We will already need to promote a few youth players to get a full squad to follow the rule, selling one of the few home grown players that actually have PL experience and quality would be shooting ourselves in the foot. Selling Torres would be much more logical, though admittedly harder. Then again while selling Torres might not yield as much transfer money, his high salary would still free up quite a bit of money. So let's hope Athletico or some other team is foolish enough to buy him. Otherwise I see us ending up with four strikers. Stats

Drogba will be off next season and if Lukaku goes we most likely will look for another striker in the market next season anyway. We should meet the HG rules but it won't help by selling Lukaku. If we do that we are just creating a problem for ourselves. When I keep seeing Everton are still working towards signing him on a permanent basis I just keep hoping bour board aren't foolish to sell him. It is a blessing that he is a HG player as he can be with us for the next decade. It should be a no-brainer for the board. One being because he is still the future of this club and secondly he is homegrown and an exceptional talent. The HG quota is very important. We are just setting up a problem for ourselves if we get rid of him. Will be ludicrous to sell him. Words can't explain how angry I will be if he is moved on. He hasn't signed an extension if that continues this is the last window where we can truly capitalize on a sale. The Skipper
Stats 7,142
It's not always the club's decision. If he wants to leave, the board won't keep him against his will. He said he wants to stay and fight for his place. It seems if he goes it is down to Mourinho. If we had got Shaw the HG rule would not be as much bother but it is clear that we need to take the HG rule seriously, especially for the UCL. But if Everton make a huge bid got a bad feeling we will sell. We should keep him along this season regardless. I can't see him wanting to leave unless he feels pushed out as 3rd striker once again. But even with Drogba here I am hoping this is a boost for Lukaku. stroey
Bluelsthecolour 61
Would rather see us get Pogba or even Barkley in a deal with Lukaku. Dont rate him THAT high and i do not think he will get to that world class level some ppl think. Posh Chels and simonez

Let's face it: it's not like Lukaku has never expressed his unwillingness to fight for his place before. He hinted and implied numerous times that he deserves better than to sit on the bench. So I don't believe that it's only down to the club whether he leaves or not. It's not that simple. It rarely is. Madmax
BenIsLegend 475
"Good news for VfL Wolfsburg! Romelu Lukaku is really near to join VfL for a €25m transfer" #CFC #EFC (via @PhilipHarmeling)Think Romelu needs a good talking too but I still wish he were staying at the club since he has the potential to be really good. I reckon this transfer is all Romelu's doing, didn't want to face competition at the club.
Vybz Kartel 1,613
SMH so we bring back Drogba to only go on and sell Lukaku?? I really wonder what goes through our board's minds sometimes to be honest, just when I thought we will finally have a balanced transfer window

Gilvorak 3,734
Jose must have had enough. If Mourinho feels he can't manage him then I have no problem in the club selling him. There are simply too my warning signs when it comes to him and he's not half as good as he thinks he is.Feel we're being shafted a bit though. We should be getting at least £30m on him, put that money in the bank for when the next big striker comes onto the scene. Chelsea Legend 11 4,062
If he doesn't want to sign an extension then it makes perfect sense to sell. I'm just hoping its for more than £19m didn't we buy him for 18m?
Gilvorak 3,734
It's time to go back to being dependent on a striker. Rotation never works when it comes to forwards.

Especially with the prices players like supposedly Borini are going for.

Popular Post! TorontoChelsea 4,064 Posted July 26, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted July 26, 2014 Would be a terrible move unless they aren't done buying yet. Torres and Drogba as our backup strikers? Yikes. Second strikers get a lot of gametime and that's a combo that scored 11 goals in 56 league games three years ago and has gotten older and worse since. I don't think Lukaku is some superstar player, but he has shown the ability to score regularly when given a chance and that's something neither Torres or Drogba have done for a long time. bababoom, Daniel1980, Pizy and 8 others
dee25 1,044
So what, we'll be going into the season with Torres and Drogba as backup? How does that make sense? MrExcalibur100
petre.ispirescu 4,928
No way Jose is starting the season with Diego Costa, a 36 yo Drogba and a useless striker that can't score for his life. MrExcalibur100

When Drogba arrived in the week he stated in his own words that he believes he is one of the best strikers in the world. When have you ever heard Mourinho compliment Lukaku? Mourinho imo wants Costa, Drogba and unfortunately Torres as his main strikers. While Lukaku might want to stay, Mourinho might just want the transfer fee. Anyway nothing surprises me with how we treat and sell on players who deserve to stay. This is probably another one which we will look back on in regret.
