Theo Walcott

So why not play Hazard at striker if Chelsea want a winger posing as a striker? No aerial presence, won't hold up play and will get pushed off the ball by a better defense.

That's the reason why I don't want Walcott. Give him space, he will thrive and excel. However, when opponents defend deep and congest up the space, Walcott becomes practically useless. Even Walcott said earlier that when the game is open, it suits him. He offers nothing more than pace.

Exactly. Walcott thrives in an open game, had a great game today, but like you said, he's not as good if he isn't afforded space.

If people aren't willing to see Sturridge up front here, don't see why they'd be happy with Walcott.

Actually he's a very good link-up man - remember that's what you said you liked about Lewandowski the other day, that he offers a lot to his game. Well the same case could be made for Walcott couldn't it?

The one thing that you learn after 5 years with Wenger is how to pass the ball, which is what he offers over Sturridge too.

I'm not saying he's a good option for us, but some people need to be a little consistent.

I highly doubt he'd succeed here, simply because our game is allot slower than Arsenal's and quite tighter .. but I've just always loved him as a player for the things he's shown today. Such a shame he plays for a rival.

I'm baffled as to why people are talking about him on the wings?! He's spent as much time as Sturridge talking about being a center-forward and now he's on fire. Stick him on the wings and we're going to get a player who's going to end up complaining. Daniel Sturridge-syndrome.

That's true.., if you want to take bring in another striker and put him on the wing you might as well bring back Kalou..at least he won't grumble (not as much anyways)

I don't understand why Walcott would leave Arsenal. If he wants to play up front (which he does), no other team of any quality would make him the starter there. At Arsenal, he'll play a lot of striker. Where is he going to go that's going to give him the same opportunities? Certainly not at Chelsea where'd play an occasional match to give Torres a rest and play the rest of the time on the wings (which would force Moses out of the starting XI). I've always thought Walcott was underrated because people focus on the disappointing player he was a few years ago rather than the player he'd actually become, but he just doesn't make sense for us right now. We're stacked at attacking midfield and we're obviously committed to Torres.

He will be the new Kalou. Come on for 30 minutes, get in behind tired defenders and score goals. Will be a brilliant buy if hes used for that. We will get another striker though, he won't be the main striker we sign in January.

Walcott will sign a new deal for sure. I just think he wants to get a prolonged role upfront and not be shifted wide. He sounded optimistic about signing the deal and so do Arsenal. Can't see why he would leave Arsenal for us unless it is for more money but he already said he just wants to play up front. I am sure he will sign a new deal in the end.

As I have said, Walcott's game is all about pace and space. Give him the latter and he will excel. Problem comes when he's not given that. When opponents defend deep and narrow against us, which the lesser sides tend too, then Walcott is basically ineffective. These problems were already evident even when he was still playing at RW.

Alan Pardew is such an idiot, pushing his defenders up the field against Theo Walcott, yeah good idea lets play highline against Arsenal at the emirates. Managers like him are just one season men, just managers who can get the best out of there players, but can only do it in a season.

Walcott however has always been a good player, people have laughed at me when i said go get him. People also say he can't cross or anything, well I've seen him whip in some great balls over the last two seasons, look at that cross to Giroud, one of the best crosses of the season I've seen.

Though to be fair we should probably give him a skip, because he's only going to want to play centre forward and we don't play the way Arsenal do.

To me, Walcott is putting himself in the shop window. Any young player with ambition would not stay at Arsenal - yet you can see that Walcott perhaps wants a stint at centre-forward at Arsenal for a year or two before moving on to bigger and better things. Arsenal can't afford to let him go. I think he'll stay.
