Exactly. If he stays he has a whole summer transfer window to sort things out.He must know who can go and let them go and bring in who he feels we need...not whose he's told to buy for name sake or anything like that needs his to be his choice..then we'll see for defintate what he can do.Have no excuses then be his squad really

You know... Just imagine AVB managing a team full of top talent. I mean REAL talent, in 4-3-3 formation, having pacy wingers, a deadly striker, a witty playmaker. Out of our current players, ONLY Mata and Luiz fit that equation, nobody else (maybe also Romeu in a few years). Now imagine if he was given time to refresh the squad how he thinks is best, we could see an upgraded version of Porto with fluid football. This image alone deserves giving him time. And don't get me wrong, that time isn't only one season, you can't dump 90% of your team in one summer, it would be gradual. Hopefully in his 3rd season we'd see 180 degree improvement.

Yeah he should be giving time with that notion.

At least till his contract is over.

Cause if we do that, then some managers will see something change at the club that is no longer the merry go around, and might be interested in coming.

Would love to have David Moyes if after 3 years AVB has not been that great.

One summer won't be enough, I don't think the club will be able to revamp the squad in such a short time. it will take 2 years at least, if not more. As a minimum AVB must see his contract out. We bet a lot on him getting him in the club, now he must be given the freedom to do what he was brought in to do... like zolayes said, "bite the bullet and see it through". It's like an operation really, it will be hard and painful but have a healing effect. But IF nothing happens during the summer, if no intent is shown, then by all means we can sack the board and AVB because they're useless.

My worst thought is that we'll see almost identical team next season... the worry is fuelled by the fact the club was prepared to offer Drogba an extension, luckily his greed has got in the way. I seriously hope that at least 50% of our starting XI next season is different.

The problem with dropping out of the CL places is that we will not be able to get players like Hazard, Falcao, Moura, etc next season. Hot young talent will follow established managers/coaches like Mourinho as they did from Bayern Munich when he took over at Real Madrid. They will not come to Chelsea to be hood ornaments in part of a three-season rebuilding exercise. Frankly, Man City or Man U are better bet in the transfer market because even though they'll also be outside the CL next season they do have managers with better results in the EPL. It's a business, for brand-name players as well as for brand name clubs. Abramovich will surely be aware of this and be monitoring Chelsea's decline as a commercial asset this season in the European and global sports market. He's a shrewd, tough business entrepreneur with a passion for football and CFC, a logical choice with the right manager given its prime value in maybe the world's richest area of real estate. Now that we're out if the top 4 EPL places I believe he will use our CL matches against Napoli to weight up his next move. Abramovich is the youngest multi-billionaire in what's probably the most formidable industrial sectors of all - the East European oil market. He's a survivor with a powerful structure of business support. Major changes will surely come in the off-season but meanwhile I suspect he is already discussing his options with advisers like Mourinho, Hiddink and super agent Pini Zahavi. Point being - whatever is happening with Chelsea on the field right now is yesterday's news as far as deciding what's going to happen at boardroom and player level at the end of this season. That's my take on it anyway, and as we all know nothing ever leaks from our owner's inner circle until he's ready.

If the board sacks AVB now it would be not only an absoloutly poor decesion but would also send a wrong message, in may aspects. First of all it would show that they are clueless. Everyone knew that AVB is the a young, bright but unexpierienced coach compared to others. Sack him now would mean "ah we didn´t know that there was a risk". Secondly we will never ever build something for the longterm. We will be like Real Madrid just without the trophys, clinging onto powerfull players, a good but short phase in the past. I don´t want that. I´d rather take two shit seasons but increasing process of positives than a new manager, who isn´t a guarantee for success either. Ancelotti all over again, not to mention that i think it is a fucking disgrace how they treated him. Could´ve given him the time of his contract, let AVB gather more experience and then thinking about a shake up. But anyways, coming my most and surely everyone with a clear view´s point: Sacking AVB would make the players getting away with it. Absoloutly underperforming and still be rewarded. "Oh no, it´s the manager´s and not the player´s fault, we did everything we could". Watching Lampard playing yesterday was absoloutly shocking. He had a brilliant carreer, but sadly it isn´t one that is fading out quietly but rather burning out quickly. That is alright, that happens in footall as in life in general sadly, but not being honest about in adapting your game (like Scholes) and trying to find a new position in the team is just a big ego´s way of doing it. Don´t get me wrong, I think Lamps did everything to the club and the fans to satisfy him in the past but times are a-changing, to quote Mr. Bob Dylan. I certainly don´t want to single out Frank for what is going wrong at the moment, it is just a pattern for our situtation.

We spoke a lot about Malouda, Anelka and so on. Their attitude in the games have been shocking on an whole different level but carelessness is the outcome in both cases. Letting the players get away with their behavior would just deepen the rot in our squad and let them get even more lazier. The way AVB treated Alex and Anelka is obviously not good in man to man management. I would be fucking furious if my boss would speak to me like that. But then again the football scenery is different. Anyway, it had him sent out a strong message which seemed to work for while, but then the sloppyness came back. I don´t know how much a manager can do if the players don´t do what they are good at. If they would perfom subsitution logic wouldn´t have such a big impact i think. Not taking anything away from the fact that the right substitions will send out a message and win you games, but when the players on the pitch are not performing they way the did before (Sturridge, Lamps, Malouda, etc) then what will three Subs change if the rest is still as lethargic as before ?

And to a whole different point: Bringing back Mourinho ? Get his signings out and start something new ! New is always more exciting and better, if you ask me.

I am not a traditionalist but certainly a fan of José, but those days are over and there is a chance in every new beginning. But if some fans are not patient enough and expect a total shake up after 7 months of what he been going for almost 6 years, that is just poor judgement and not really good knowledge about the game.

For fucks sake, sometimes I wonder why people support a certain Football Club when all they do is moan and not being very helpful and their analyses. It seems that their lives depend on how the board runs their favourite set of shirts. Don´t get me wrong again, I love Chelsea Football Club and take every defeat on the chin as long as the players do the same and react to what happens. But I don´t let my judgement be fooled by the mist of impatience.

I feel much better for reading this thread .. AVB is the future ,,,the nucleus of the New Chelsea must be ..Josh, Ryan , Romeu . Lukaku

Luis ,, Sturridge,, .... then bring on Piazon Chalobah.Clifford and Courtois or Delac.

It looks terrible now but if lessons are learned the future could be brighter than ever

I'm with slot of people here in the fact that we have to support AVB. but too bad the fans at that games show the polar opposite. Booing, not singing how the hell is that an atmosphere for a struggling manager, it only adds to the pressure!!

Roman won't fire him however if there is no UCL next year, I fear the worst. Also forgot who it was but yeah avb needs backup plan! This system is not workin and never will with this squad because whenever it does we're conceeding 3+ goals?!?! I'd that a system of success?? I say return to the old boring cross till death system that we have been using for drogs and watch the goals fly in. And hey kalou is being missed and as much as people may not admit it, he can get by a player and is always in the right spots like chicharito. (only he doesn't concert them into goals at same rate as him :) )

Things wil get better we will beat gunners and get fourth and drogs will be key, end of.

bullshit, when the fuck did he play them ? Most of those guys, save romeu, were club buys or already here. He's no different than anyone else and we're giving him too much credit. I fully believe Mourinho would play them just as much if not more than AVB. He's after success not sentiment, if you dont perform you are benched, that simple. He gests the best out of people and that will be the case with our youth.

...and Hiddink and Mourinho. That dream team could not only get us playing again but solve the Eurozone crisis.

AVB can do the press conferences because he likes to talk. Let the others focus on the football side.

Yeah but he talks so quietly cant hear what the fuckers saying. Mourinho was better, toyed wiv da meeja.

Seriously AVB has a lot of faults. Crap subsititutions and same wank formation.

I dont feel sorry for him at all, anybody who keeps playing Malouda and Bosingwa asks for everything he gets,If he would of come out and said he was going to give the youth a chance 90 % of fans would of understood,This style of play has got to be the most boring ive ever watched us play and ive watched some shit, Its the fans who travel and spend there hard earned money i feel sorry for.

Surprises me that 21 say he should go yet we're always moaning about changing managers too often. I think every manager deserves another season to make up for any shit one. 2 shit seasons = go.

If we finish below 4th I can't see him staying. This squad is poor really but it has the quality to be in the top 4.

Think is the implications of finishing outside the Top 4 is worse than firing AVB. Would Roman actually take that risk. I'm not sure.

Exactly. Falcao moved from Porto (CL Qualified) to Athletico.

Chelsea is an establish team, and most player understand if a team fails one season to get in. Happen to Bayern and other team.

It's a problem if it happens for more then one season!
