Lampard should not be disrespected in any way....by fans or manager...

He should still play regularly.... just as long as he speeds up his game a bit....age does that to footballers but its not something a midfielder cannot overcome....

He doesnt need to run his lungs off....just pass a bit faster;;;;

A little more like ramires and a bit less like Mikel...

Otherwise he is class and should remain in the spine of our team atleast till next season,,,,then re assess where he is at.

BUT....if we have to change our style of play... We need space in midfield for another player.... Catch 22

What?!

Lampard is simply past his prime now. Too long does he go in a game without any meaningful contributions. Yes we're grateful for the goal he provided and he's good experience to keep on the bench. He's simply not a starter though, because he can't adapt. Why should the squad adapt to him? I don't understand this.

Agreed. Maybe this will be clear for everyone to see when/if we get a decent young attacking midfielder to take Frank's place.

Lamps has always said he wanted a career similar to Gigs in the sense that he wants to play till he's 37-38. But we have to realize that if that's the case then, like Gigs, Frank has to accept a smaller role and less minutes each season from now to achieve this desire.

Nah he aint a starter anymore but its always good...maybe not for him to have experince to call on when needed. He cant start every game now its not gana do him good fitness and tiredness wise and when he has been rested he does play a lot beter and have a postive impact

Dont think it helped his case when he wasnt played and he wasnt missed so much..good from our view means we can make changes and not dependable on one player but not so good from his view!

One thing I do respect he has done is that he cut of Anelka and Alex from the club when they submited transfer requests (I don't appriciate cutting Anelka of from New Year lunch though). Why couldn't they keep playing and when the transfer period began release a tiny rumor that they are available for transfer? Instead BOOM transfer requests. Kalou probably changed his mind when he saw what happened with two of 'em.

Enough said...Terry backing AVB...My bad if it has been previously posted..

Very wise words by our captain. Trust the Sun and the Mail to twist them into something malicious about Andre and the club.

Ramires on AVB

"The way he treats the players is unique. He treats everyone equally, regardless of who they are or how famous they are.

"Every day he speaks to individual players and tries to help solve problems. It's hard to find someone like that.

"He talks and listens to what players say. That makes a difference. He's all smiles and likes to joke around.

"As a person, he's extraordinary and he's also admirable as a coach. My football has grown a lot with his arrival.

"The one thing when he spoke to the players about Nico and Alex is that they had spoken to other clubs and going forward he said that he doesn't want players involved in the first team who are out there speaking to other clubs because they weren't thinking of Chelsea first and foremost.

Interesting...If that's the case I have to agree with AVB for shutting them out.

Thats a good thing imo, not sure If a player that scored a late goal winning thinks the same.

I don't care what the player thinks. And so should u. At Chelsea we all consider player/legend>>>>manager. At Arsenal, Man Utd, Liverpool it is the opposite.

It is true.

André is trying to change this mentality of players being above the club, yet here we say Lampard is so. Double-standards.

for me it must always be CLUB first ....thats why the rest should be here

It should always be club first but that doesn't mean showing players, especially club legends, a lack of respect. A manager should praise any match winner whether it's Lampard or Kalou, not snub them. If the manager wants his players to like and respect him, he needs to show the same to them. Their the ones going onto the pitch, fighting for the points at the end of the day.

And there is no proof that AVB did snub Lamps. It seems that Frank is not happy with being sidelined. The Sun took that and turned it into this ridiculous story. Let's not confuse rumors from "chelsea insider" with facts.
