I did criticize AVB in the Arsenal game, but in this game I can't find any real fault with him. Who would have expected to Glen Johnson to dribble his way past Terry and Cole? Its not like he's Tevez, or Suarez (who ironically did no harm)...

I would however suggest that he sticks with one CB pairing (and another one as backup) as well as one CF as players in these positions need more consistency. Its also clear that more than Terry and Lampard, Cole is the one who needs to be rested more often, as he's struggling to track back a lot after spending so much time higher up the pitch.

btw maybe Gary Neville should consider that defenders who look like they are "being controlled by a 10-year-old playing on his Playstation”. generally don't start for the most successful country in football history, David Luiz does so somebody must see something worthwhile in him.

Don't be silly. Gary Neville knows more than Villas-Boas, Ancelotti, Menez, ect.

Not only Neville but Redknapp too, much like they have done with Per Mertersacker (before he even played a game in an Arsenal jersey) they have earmarked Luiz as a player to constantly criticise. His performance today didn't warrant criticism, it was generally good.

Apart from his starting line-up.

And where did he actually make a mistake there?

Cech, fine.

Ivanovic at RB, fine.

Luiz and Terry? Our best CB partnership, fine.

Mikel, fine, risk was too big to start Romeu.

Ramires, fine.

Lampard, In great form, fine.

Malouda, Works well with DD and did alright, fine.

Drogba. The pressure on Torres would've been to big, and if he had an another bad performances against Liverpool it would shatter what's left of his confidence. So Drogba, fine.

Mata, fine.

Sure, Meireles should've started, but it was to risky to play him as a DM and he had a tough 2 games with Portugal while Ramires stayed at Cobham.

Sturridge? Perhaps, but he didn't do well against Arsenal and Jose Enrique is one of the best LBs in the world.

I didn't want Meireles as DM, i wanted him instead of Ramires.

My main problem though was the changes up front. One is maybe understandable, but two changes in a big game?? and this 2 players have hardly played well this season.

The line-up was fine and almost worked actually. Malouda and Drogba came quite close to putting us in front..but once again, as has been the case several times this season, its taken the team an opposition goal (while in other games a red card) to get really fired up...

And there are these defensive errors..The high line leaves them exposed yes, but most of the goals have come from situations which you would otherwise consider harmless...like today when Cech takes a goal kick, or when Johnson comes up against JT and Cole all alone...

Scolari lost four of his 25 PL games before being fired, AVB has lost four of his 12.

Cool story bro!

Scolari inherited one of the most talented Chelsea squad ever, they were a penalty away from wining the ultimate prize in europe.

This squad is the worst side in the Roman era.

Its kinda bad when soon as we hit a bad patch the talk from pundits and other fans is when it the manager gana get the sack. For other clubs that never seems to happen!..

But from BBC site anyho..little point there:

Dale Wright on Twitter: "Abramovich has only got to look at Man United and Arsenal to see faith in managers pays off. Romeu, McEachran, Lukaku - future stars!

That is the fickle world of football , at the end of the day where ever we finish in the league it wont stop my passion for the team , they could be fighting in league one and i would still be as happy for a win. As said before Roman has spoiled us in terms of success over the seasons and when things go bad we just chuck money at the situation to right it , but now with the FFP we need to think of other ways to bring success like a long term manager who will create his own team here.

2005/2006 seems so long ago now and i would even go as far out and say the league was easier to win back then , we never had to worry about the likes of City , Spuds and even teams like Newcastle. Times are Changing we need to change with them.

Some of the threads are just embarrassing on this thread. The fans have gotten used to the owners style of handling the managers.

AVB Out? Seriously..Get a grip

Exactly give the guy a bit of time and a break, plus think logically - how much would sacking him and his staff cost us??....a shit load of money...people need to remember our history, we are not a massive club and have been punching above our weight for a while....I can remember us getting relegated to he 2nd tier of english football when I was a kid....we need patience....even if we dont get top 4 this year, aslong as AVB can get old big earners off our wage bill that now contribute little (Malouda, Anelka, Drogba maybe even Lampard) and buy exciting technically gifted players(Mata, Romeu, Mierlies) at a fair cost i will be happy...

Sure he is making mistakes and not everyone will agree with all his decisions but we are heading in the right direction longterm

Its the usual kneejerk reaction we get when we loose a big game , Liverpool are always up for it against us then they will go and loose 3-0 to Swansea. as you say we need to get rid of the big wage earners and build a foundation for the years to come.

For me that is the main thing that needs to be addressed this year - getting our house in order......the contracts that we dished out for alot of our existing squad is disgraceful - Malouda and Anelka on 100k a week longterm deals, off the back of 1 good season...JT and Lamps 150k a week on 4/5 year contracts...if reports are true then Ferraira and Kalou are on more money than Mata!!.

We have the second highest wage bill in the league and we definately do not have the second best squad in the league...

I also read with dismay and pray that it can't be right that Kalou has been offered 90k a week for a new deal????
