Chelsea Sack Andre Villas-Boas

Im not really sure how he can be blamed. He most of the big decisions right. Drogba over Torres was the right choice. Luiz at centre back and Ivanovic at right back was the right choice. Bringing on Sturridge second half was the right move. Is it AVB's fault that Michael Essien (our first choice holding midfielder) has the knees of a 90 year old? No, which is why Obi Mikel is starting games, it's not his fault that Obi Mikel is so bloody slow on the ball. It's not his fault that Florent Malouda refuses to cover the wing back, I mean unless he physically runs onto the pitch and pushes Malouda into a proper position, there isn't a lot he can do about it, its up to the player. AVB's decision to switch to a 4-2-3-1 got us back into the game today, some of the football we are trying to play is excellent but the problem is some of the players aren't good enough to play that way, it's that simple.

It was a game of tactics. I don't think our tactics were as awful as when we played Arsenal. The shape in the 2nd half was very good.. Liverpool were prepared in a better way though. Hold our hands up and say, they were tactically better.

It's a learning curve here.. Kenny & Steve have invaluable experience, André & Roberto do not. Time is key.

:( Steve Clarke!! If only we'd kept him...

Jamie Redknapp is speaking well now. André must be given time to make this team his own. It's only been 3months.. 12 games.

Haha, why we let him rot at West Ham, I'll never know! Who's decision was that even?

Teams were weaker in Mou's time.

And that is the sole reason? Teams were weaker in Mou's time because we were stronger, every year after we have become weaker hence other teams becoming stronger in comparison to us. With Mourinho's defence we wouldn't have conceded 17 already, the simple truth is that currently our defending is a laughing stock.... not sure what this has to do with this topic though, it's not like Jose is coming back and we aren't gonna replicate the ruthlessness of 2004-2006 again any time soon. If we're gonna have shit defence, then we should at least have better attack to outscore the oppositions... time will tell if that will come.

Current team is outdated, simple as that. Not the manager and his sidekicks, but the players. But it's up to the manager and the club board to see through a succesful transition, sacking the management IS NOT the answer in current state. Give AVB the players he needs and let's see then.

Edit: Btw, remember that quote of Mourinho before he was sacked, the "eggs and omelettes" commentary? He hinted that some of the players were not up to the standard even back then, and I believe it was in 2007, no? We still have majority of the same eggs. They should have listened...

good post a number of our players are close to or past their sell by date . The first half we looked an old tired team lacking in drive and energy.

Can we please stop criticising Villas-Boas's style? We know it has not been too successful so far but he has the right idea in getting us to play nicer football. Obviously it does not work for every player i.e John Terry but what would be the point of Abramovich hiring him and getting him to just play the same boring way we have done for the last 5 years if he wants passing football? Every manager has their own unique style of play so why should Villas Boas have to change his footballing philosophy if our players cannot play this way? It would be like trying to make Barcelona play the big Sam Allardyce way- it just wouldn't work. Give him time and hopefully in the Summer we will get rid of the rotting corpses of Anelka, Malouda etc from the back of the cupboard and bring in players who know how to play quick tempo passing football.

Neville said the gung-ho style in which Luiz was playing by charging around the pitch and his general characteristics makes it look to observers like the player was "being controlled by a 10-year-old playing on his Playstation”.

While insisting he had respect for Neville, Villas-Boas said he strongly disagreed with the view that his defender looked like he was being controlled by a child on a video game console.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, he said: “It is his opinion, but it is a stupid approach to an opinion.

“I respect Gary Neville but that is just ridiculous."

Neville is such a twat.

People are looking at it the wrong way. Look at the players AVB brought in and he already had.

Mata. One of our best signings ever.

Meireles. A steal and a good Essien replacement.

Courtois. With De Gea the most talented young GK.

Lukaku. One of the most talented young strikers, who will only get better with our top class training facilities.

Sturridge. Gave the lad finally a chance, and we can all say that Danny is the best striker we have at the moment.

On the other hand, he got an old squad with big names used to playing week and week out and a big dilemma our starting striker.

Injury prone Essien, Lamps and Drogba off form, Kalou...inconsistent Anelka and Malouda, Mikel who is not anything special...now Terry with all the racist stuff...

he can't just come in and dump all this big name players, spend loads of money and change the squad. What would the players think of that? He didn't even see them in real action yet they got sold.

Look at our best players this season.

Best one is Mata ey? AVB buy.

Sturridge? AVB started him ahead of Malouda, Anelka, Kalou, DD and FT.

Meireles? AVB buy.

Lampard? Good old Lamps, but AVB gave him a kick in the butt.

Luiz? Even if he scares us shitless sometimes, he still brings a lot to the squad and he is a great player for the high line AVB is trying to implement.

Torres? He had a couple of really good games and generally did well. Last season under CA? We better forget it.

Mikel? Even he feels more relaxed and we've seen him send a few good longballs rather them simple short horizontal passes.

Ramires? With AVB he got a lot of freedom of going forward and it benefited his game.

You have to wonder, when a car won't start or is driving but slowly, do you change the engine or the shell/seats/paint and the rest? Ancelotti is one of the best managers in the world, yet he had a disastrous season that got him sacked. Was it his fault really that much? Or the fault of missfiring Torres, Malouda "I play well while the transfer period is on", Anelka "I'm a dummy salesman", injured Lampard, unfit Drogba, injured Alex and Ramires who was still getting used to EPL? Add to that a shortage of luck and huge motivation every team had against us and voilà!

In the end, I'll just quote this.

A defeat sorts the men from the boys on this forum
