Colossal mistake? It was the correct decision. You just have to look at the trajectory of the club this season and you can foresee how calamitous this season would've ended up, it would've been on par with 15/16 but the only difference here is that Boehly decided to be proactive rather than allow a sinking ship sink any further.
Look at all our games. West Ham at home should've been a draw if it wasn't for a dodgy decision. Got spanked by Leeds away, lost to a very poor Soton side away, lost to a Croatian side in the CL and played very poorly against Leicester and Everton, yet somehow came away with 3 pts. The only game this season where we looked great was against Spurs. If Tuchel carried on, this season would've been another write-off with so many new players. The risk was way too big for Boehly.

Our most hated manager since Benitez, yet has transformed our performances and is continuously getting the results. Our only mistake is not hiring him sooner.

I am only 20 years old, so I don't remember Zola playing for us, but Hazard is the most talented player I've seen in a Chelsea blue shirt, such a shame he's leaving us but I must be grateful for everything he has done for us.

Being 3rd means fuck all. Its one of the most deceiving things you can point out in a very long time.
We are 3rd ONLY because other teams were so shit in the final run. With out form, we should be 6th. Thats our reality.
In the last 15! matches that United, Spuds and Arse have played, there were only 2 wins. 2 bloody wins, coupled with 4 draws and bunch of loses.
Its a fucking miracle that we ended 3rd.
Dont get me wrong, I love that we somehow ended up there and with CL, but this is papering over cracks.
Anyone who is going to say "oh but Sarri brought us to 3rd, thats amazing didnt see more than 3 games of Chelsea this season. Because you would then know that we didnt earn this place, neither was Sarri deserving for it. Our rivals were plain and simple even shittier than us.
Maybe Sarri will make us a better team next season, maybe. But for this season, I cant give him nor this team any real credit for ending in 3rd because thats one big luck.
Then we have Hazard situation. The way he said it, he wants to leave, everything is left for board to agree with Real on fee and that must be respected as Sarri said too.
Now if we ended up with Jovic, Pepe and Chilwell this summer, we would have team for next era, quite promising one too.
BUT we are likely going to buy Kovacic and Higuain if Sarri will have a word.
In that case we are fucked. Simply as. Im all for optimism, but in that case we are definately fucked.

This 3rd spot is very similar to United getting 2nd spot last season. Everyone knows we aren't the third best team in England right now, and United weren't the 2nd best team last season. It all creates a false sense of security. United board believed in this 2nd spot and they paid the price, by not backing the manager, and I'm getting the impression we will pay the price because our board is inept and will probably keep Sarri.

The fact that Arsenal and Tottenham's form in the league recently took a massive nose-dive, is the worst thing that could have happened to this football club. It's almost like that Kimpembe handball against United. A false friend. Now, we are stuck with mediocrity for the foreseeable future and it's not going to get any better. Everyone, who understands football, clearly knows we didnt "earn" top 4 this season or deserve to be in it but we were merely gifted it. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against being gifted something but when our entire team is a shambles, with an inept manager and our best player leaving in the summer, the board will accept this mediocrity and all this, is papering over the huge cracks that exist. Next season, is the first season in the Abramovich era, where I have ZERO confidence we will be able to achieve anything.

Sack Sarri ASAP after this season. The man is straight up clueless. Get in a manager, who will be able to make the most of our loaned and academy players.

36 year old Quagliarella scored his 23rd goal today. Serie A is crap, what Napoli did or how they played under Sarri there means nothing.

City are the epitome of corruption in the world. Corruption that won't go punished.
As much as I hate Spurs, I'm glad they knocked them out. Lord be the day a footballing club as corrupt as City wins the most prestigious prize in club football.
