Bottom line Cesc makes opponents game plan for him and takes pressure off of Hazard, Willian, Oscar etc with his experience and leadership. You want to compare off the field stories with Eden? Great but Eden and Oscar were both going to the Cup, both played a ton of games but only one shined continuously for the Blues. I'll believe it when Chelsea announce how "delighted" they are to sign Costa, but after recent reassurances from Jose in regards to Ba, Torres and even Bamford in terms of his plans for them, not even factoring Lukaku's plans yet, all vying for essentially one spot in attack? That has me doubting a deal with Costa being done. Jose doesn't need to promise a bigger role to Demba Ba because SOME club on the planet would enquire about buying Demba. It makes more sense for Jose to tell Ba to pack his bags if Costa is coming. Especially when Demba wants a bigger role.

The journalists can stop linking Raphael Varane to Chelsea because Jose already has his next great CB in Kurt Zouma who will be a beast in blue.

First on Costa, (since Mandzukic is being rumored as a backup to him at Chelsea) wasn't there reports that Chelsea agreed on the release clause prior to that Club World Cup against Atletico that Falcao was a done deal? Now the same thing is being said about Costa before the season is done and dusted for AM. Atletico can wait to bend Chelsea over the barrel after the WC because 32 million compared to what Cavani and Falcao went for would be plain stupid by AM. Especially since 6 or 7 million of it is sell on clause owed to the club they bought him from. They don't need to sell Costa right now. As for Mandzukic, this is simply an unhappy guy who was going to play second fiddle to Lewandowski (start the Chelsea transfer rumors) and now on top of that gets dropped before a cup final, so let's fire up the fake swap with Bayern offers involving David Luiz. Mandzukic getting dropped to me sends a fat red flag and would avoid him.

He along with Oscar was given the opportunity to raise their game and be leaders and this past season both failed and were especially woeful down the stretch. I'm sure they will be incredible for Brazil in the WC then come back down a notch or two for the club with fatigue as the first excuse, to be followed with a repeat performance from last season.
