I buy into the theory that Drogba leaving meant there's basically no fire under Hazard's ass and thus no real desire to perform. To be a broken record, this is why Cech should have been retained. It still feels like a strange dream that he wasn't. It'd be immature to dismiss psychology as a big factor these days when it comes to players and their ability. If you're the best in your own head, you'll at least be decent with your feet. If you're only decent or very good in your head though, you're not exactly shooting for the moon, so you won't be landing amongst the stars if you fall short. From before he even arrived here, the 1 common trait that Belgian and Lille fans alike would highlight was: "His mentality." Mentalities don't change very quickly in the world of football when you're an idolised millionaire. I expect no changes.

there is literally not 1 thing we have to offer him to make him want to come here. every other top club can match our wages these days.

The fact he was that keen to get someone elses kit shows he is indeed still a boy, who just wants to enjoy his football experience day by day with no real goals - - which makes me believe further that there's no malicious bones in his body. if he's unmotivated it must be something behind the scenes at home, like he's wondered "Why DO i play football? WHY?". I understand he's got a philosophical head on his shoulders. He's perhaps talked himself out of motivation.

Anyway I'd say it's the lack of Cech that's hindered us more than the lack of a winger being on form. A goalie wins you so many more points than your attackers unless you've got an Aguero or Suarez. we failed because of the board. though that doesn't excuse Hazard being pony. I'd ideally keep him though honestly and use him in Willian's supportive role while a prolific player comes in on the other side

No foreign team I watch has Hazard in their XI. If they can be magnificent with less famous players, so can we. There are TOO MANY players to choose from whom we could replace Hazard with and actually play better football. He is not the player he was hyped to be (yet). Far from an untouchable.

Said it like 20 times that he should've been shipped off for £30m+ to any of the top clubs who would've paid that in a heartbeat for him so we could keep Cech 2-3 more seasons, buy a top player from Atletico then just scout up another goalie 'wunderkid' when Cech's done. The board wanted a scouting mission to pay off so much they disregarded a legend who's the better player.
