Our summer transfers in are Morata, Rudiger, Bakayoko, Zappacosta and Drinkwater. Would you have taken this at the start of the window?
Christensen is technically an addition as well.

How do you tell if a football fan is a know-it-all?
When they claim they religiously watch Belotti and are sure of his abilities but have no idea who Zappacosta is.

We have been very, very, very lucky to suffer our decline while the whole English football was declining as well. It has allowed us to keep the head out of the water and to win two PL, otherwise we would be right now at the same level as Liverpool. Seeing our inability — or rather, our non-desire — to manage the squad and to renew it properly, in a few seasons we will be in a dangerously dire situation. I mean, ten years ago we had world-class (outfield) players in every position in the field : Terry, Lampard, Cole, Drogba, etc... Now, we have only one and it's Hazard.
Abramovich needs to understand that doing these cheap business will cost us greatly in the mid to long term. Not only it is crucially weakening our squad, but it does also hurt our ability to attract big names and/or futur stars. Young kids want to play with Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar, Mbappe, Robben, Pogba, etc... The only one of our players that has this power of attraction is Hazard — and he is not eternal. That is also why, back in the days, we were able to sign good players for the bench : because they had great players before them and thus could deal with it. Now, we cannot even convince the likes of Chalobah to stay on the bench while years ago players queued for that. And if you throw in the mix that every two years we are in a shambles, then you have a club that is not very attractive at all. I fear the future is not very bright for this club...
We don't have a good enough board anymore, that's it. Clearly we're not relying on cheap business hence the Morata transfer.
I'm sorry but you sound like a grumpy fortune teller. I think building a foundation and a team identity is far more important than just signing big names. What Conte has been doing can take us to the next level with the right circumstances which aren't necessarily all about signing spoiled superstars.

Yeah it's borderline piss-take at this point.

Why bother with this one? Give a young player the opportunity instead.

Oh. 3 games as captain. 3 victories. My man.

In terms of being a Chelsea legend, he's almost there. Only thing left to do is for him to be our main captain.
Here's what Garth Crooks had to say about him yesterday - not that we didn't know all those things already, but still :
Count your blessings, guys.

Lad scored a brace, won us the game and probably saved Michy Batshuayi's Chelsea career.

So yesterday, a letter Arjen had written to his 16 year-old self was published. It has some nice words about his time at Chelsea and his relationship with JT.
https://www.theplayerstribune.com/arjen-robben-bayern-munich-letter-to-my-younger-self/QuoteAt 20 years old, you’ll be in the Premier League.
And your boss? His name is José Mourinho. I should prepare you. Because he will expect a lot of you … and of everyone. Right away, you’ll feel the difference in playing for a Premier League club. You’ll need to be tougher, stronger, faster.
You’ll have to prove yourself all over again once you get there. And prove yourself to José every single week to stay in the lineup. Look, a lot has been said about José. He’s a strong personality, he’s demanding. But ever since you started playing, you’ve been just as demanding of yourself. In a way, it’ll almost seem like a perfect match. He wants to see your very best, each and every day on the pitch. And all you’ll want to give is your best. Whether in training, or in a match.
Or working your way back from an injury.
Yes, this is going to be the first time you’re challenged in that way, too. It’s not how you wanted to start off in England … with a broken bone in your foot in a preseason match. You’ll be sidelined for more than two months. But that will only provide more motivation to prove yourself. To prove yourself to José. To your teammates. To Stamford Bridge and the fans.
You’ll want to show everyone what you can do.
And you will, with a 72nd-minute goal in your very first start at Stamford Bridge in November 2004.
It’ll be right in front of the box, off your left foot.
(And by the way, your left foot? Specifically, coming in from the right wing and shooting with your left? Work on this. Practice this. It’ll come in handy more times than you can count. Trust me on this one.)
It’ll only be two years, but Chelsea will be an important step for you. For your manager, for dealing with injuries — but, also, that team will be something special. I give credit to José on this, he knows how to create and build a team. And this team? Well, it was a good one.
Not just because you had players like Lampard and Drogba and Čech and Terry on the pitch.
But because you had players like Lampard and Drogba and Čech and Terry off the pitch as well.
Everyone on that team was thinking about each other. Everyone was thinking about the club. The atmosphere during that time … it was amazing. A lot of the guys who have been at the club for a while will look out for you, but there will be no one more important — not only for you, but for everyone — than John Terry.
What can a Dutch winger learn from an English center back?
Everything.
The most important thing though, is what it takes to be a captain and a leader at a club. He’ll be someone you can talk to, whether about football or anything else. He’ll be someone who gives advice, who encourages you. Learn as much from him as you can. How he gives everything for the club. How he gives everything for the team — from the first to the last minute. Out there, he’s taking care of every team member. And he does the same off the pitch as well.
I’m not sure you’ll know it then, just how much John influenced you. So really take in those moments with him. You won’t play with anyone quite like him again.
Or have an experience quite like you had at Chelsea. There were titles and cups in Holland, but at Chelsea, you’ll all be part of history. The first league title in 50 years. It’s not going to feel complete at the time because you’ll be injured. But enjoy that moment more than I did then. Appreciate it properly — because you were a part of that team, you were important and you did do your job.

This guy Cedric would be the type of signing we would loan out next Summer.
I bet you said the same thing about Marcos Alonso when we signed him.
-
Signing Chamberlain is a long long shot, so I'd be happy with Cedric over Cancelo or Aurier considering he's familiar with the Premier League.
-
And I thought Neymar was the football villain of the year...
I have never felt disgusted by a Chelsea player until now! He can fuck right off!
If he really really cares about us fans he wouldn't have spoken at this particular difficult period for the club, and surely not in this unprofessional way.
Fucking crybaby.

I think the team has enough motivation to win this one as long as there is decent refereeing.

A lof of promising players, a lot of work to do ahead of us. Maybe some of you see this season as 2015/16, but I don't. I see it as 2013/14, first Mou season. Season of integrating, working on our squad and season of chances for a various of players.
How about it being just the 2017/18 season in its own way? Why the need to classify seasons like that in the first place?
This has gotten a bit ridiculous. If one has a clear idea of what will happen during the course of 9-10 months then there's not point in watching.

MOTM easily. He has to get more credit. Michy wasn't good prior to the goal, while Azpi was killing it for 95 minutes.
