Are we as successful as we should be? In truth - no. The amount we spent last season, should we have just won the Europa League and finished third? Absolutely not - last season was a disappointment (in that sense) - but we do have to realise we are in transition. We are progressing from one great squad to the next and that takes time and patience. The long-term reward will be another short period of dominance - another 2-4 year-spell of winning titles, cups and European honours will surely come. We just have to be patient in the meantime, before that comes about again. But as one of the above posters said, the best is yet to come. The important thing with this club, however, is whilst Fergie had a couple of trophyless seasons in 2004/05 and 2005/06 (okay, I'm excluding the Carling Cup, but I wouldn't class it as a major honour) whilst he rebuilt his United side, we've won three major - nay, massive - trophies during our transition period thus far. No-one can deny that the 90s was possibly the most exciting period of our history - great football, and the promise of even better things to come... I think as many of us were so young during that time, and we were living the first period of our current hegemony, the 90s has a romantic meaning attached to it. But would I swap Munich, Amsterdam, or the Reebok on April the 30th, 2005 for any of our "romantic" past glories? Absolutely not!
