Honestly not convinced he’s elite one bit. In a team who will have the ball most matches, I can’t see a place for somebody who’s main strengths is more or less being an outlet in a counter attacking team except perhaps playing him as a wing back but it looks nailed on Conte is off and likely that Sarri, who prefers a back 4, will take his place. Also he played in the PL and struggled a lot, fair enough he’s played more since then but a player who plays for Middlesborough won’t make the jump to Chelsea overnight and it would be a wrong move for both parties in my opinion.

Perhaps but I have known about Neves since he broke through at Porto and he will be an unbelievable MF player if he keeps playing regularly in the next few years. Sessengon is 17 and has scored between 10-15 goals as a LB/LW. I don’t think we have many 17 year olds as good as him. And if we don’t get him somebody else will and we will wondering why we didn’t go for him 3 or 4 years down the line. RLC is still nowhere near proven enough at the top level (fitness is still very questionable for a professional as well) and will undoubtedly go on loan again as will Mount undoubtedly (Ajax are really keen and I think a season there in a better team than Vitesse playing every week at a club renowned for bringing on young players would be daft to ignore for him to play 5-10 games here over the case of a 40-50 game season). In the case of RLC he has played under how many managers here and two at palace and he still doesn’t have an actual settled position, he’s played as a CM/DM under Jose here, as a 10 under Jose.. as a second striker/inside forward under Conte, a CM under de Boer and a winger under Roy Hodgson. How somebody who nobody seems to know his actual best position is going to be a regular here next season is beyond me. Also 2 goals and 3 PL assists, let’s be reasonable. Hudson Odoi hopefully will break the mould and get a chance, he’s a top talent and has been doing well all season but again remains to be seen our record with youth is terrible.

Sorry but Ryan Sessengon and Ruben Neves are the only players in that division we should seriously be looking at.

Exactly. It’s probably worth mentioning as well Martial is a calculated gamble. He’s struggled for consistency for almost 2 seasons now in terms of his performances but has scored 10 goals every season since being in England. It’s not as straightforward to sell William and for Martial to come in and be better as many seem to think. Even bits of that season under van Gaal he was hit and miss so it’s not exactly only Mourinho related before it’s brought up. He has huge potential but it is only potential. Somethings not clicked properly (Sanchez signing didn’t help but affecting Rashford as well) or we wouldn’t be talking about signing him as he’d be in the United team and they’d not be willing to consider letting him go too easily. He would be a good signing if he was somewhere between 30-40m because of his age, potential but again Leon Bailey is another player I really like and if we get him or Martial they will be huge players for us in the future although Willian shouldn’t be sacrificed for either.

😂 yeah defo worth looking into it pal. It was a good pass but how can he pass like that but not play some simple ones or kick a football with his instep instead of trying to look like some flash bastard doing unnecessary outside of the foot passes which go to the opposite team time and time again? And again the two half chances he had with Giroud and Hazard for a 40m player to not be able to communicate not once but twice? It’s shocking. One proper game this season he’s looked a reasonable standard of footballer, maybe 2 if Spurs counts from start of season. He’s decent at shielding the ball sometimes but when it comes to using it?
-
When he plays like that he’s great, like a lot of the guys he’s struggled for consistency this season but if we can get him to resign we should. Not a fan of the media circus always surrounding/mentioning him but you can’t say he is not a top class goalkeeper because he is. He’s only like 25 as well.
-
Thought Alonso and Rudi were very solid today, Salah never really got to influence attacking situations for them until later when he started showing up more and more centrally. Giroud again showing what he can bring to the team too and not only that his attitude is top class, was dropping in to congest central areas when they had the ball in second half, held it up well when we went to go direct, honestly he’s made more of an impact than I assumed he would. Hazard had the bit between his teeth and was very good. Kante is Kante and his passing is becoming more and more progressive each week. CL hopes back on? Pressure is on for Spuds and Liverpool.
-
I think today was one of his better performances this season, although he still looks well short, but I’ve never ever seen a profession footballer unnecessarily kick the ball with the outside of his foot so many times when he could have just done it with the inside of his foot. I mean he must have given it away about 10 times alone doing that. And I seen somewhere on here they gave him a 9/10 rating? Seriously?
-
another right footer playing left back? no thanks. He'd be a good back up for sure and undoubtedly could hold his own but can't see him being happy to play every few weeks.
-
Good prospect but if we go to a back 4 next season, Azpi will be an undoubted starter at RB so he'll be a rotation player more than anything for a while.
-
Dont know why people are still gushing over the idea of giving another one of our better players to a direct rival. Even in return for Martial (talented or not has struggled for consistency at United this season and even last). Attacking depth is poor enough as it is never mind this 1 in 1 out shite, just a poor mentality, upgrade on Willian yes but Willi is better than Pedro and he can make a good impact as we've seen, I'd much rather Pedro went than Willian.
-
If Monaco want him back like reported sell him to them for a loss of like 10m. No point worrying about a wee loss like 10m or that, hes on a long contract anyway so he'll get a good enough fee. Better to cut our losses before things go bad.
-
If we dont get CL (well lets be honest its 90% not happening) then Hudson-Odoi should be in the squad and given a run in the Europa League, its the ideal sort of platform for him to play, its competitive but at the same time there are a lot of shit teams in it at the start (maybe consider ourselves in that bracket based on how we've been in moments this season haha). Really impressed with him in limited minutes with the first team and even more so for the u23 and youth teams. I have high hopes he'll get a better chance than what we've seen in the past with others.
-
Loan him out? He is a donkey, he cant pass under pressure, cant shoot, gives away plenty of fouls and on top of that he gives the ball away more than the times he gives fouls away... if we can get rid of him for reasonable fee then do it. We need to sign a proper top of the level CM this summer. Can't expect Kante to carry the midfield again for another season if we continue with 3-4-3 or any other 2 man MF formation. The likes of van Ginkel is a better player than Bakayoko. I'd rather have seen us give him a shot than him, or even Drinkwater although I think for a squad player Drinkwater is okay, not great but being HG helps his status in the squad, although he is another with a pretty bang average skill set.
-
Good player, has a great technical skill set, think comparison with Eriksen is right in a way he is quite similar. Spurs were reportedly interested in him but Sporting want like 80M apparently.
-
Exceptional signing by them if it goes through. Would suit us down to the ground as well, so comfortable with the ball, moves it fast, gets stuck in, has good discipline. Fucking City
-
Tbf I thought you meant in the PL in general but even then for Chelsea as a team with the players we've had in those roles, that list is impressive and it means that for any captain it is pretty difficult to compete when you look back at that (especially Terry purely on his rise along with the clubs in terms of becoming a serial winner). Maybe then.. "worst" Chelsea captain in the PL era but Azpi would also be the same if you compare him to those names lets not even start to say otherwise. There are worst captains at other PL teams anyway, so not sure what the fuss is, I mean imagine for instance, Jordan Henderson was running around captaining us or some other daft player who lacks experience in leading, winning trophies and even just that huge winning mentality that many of our players have had in the last 20 years? I know Cahill isn't the most popular player among fans but is there any point in pointing all these things out? Just seems a bit needless when as you have done, you break it down and point out the likes of Wise, Desailly, Terry all being captain before him. Poor leadership skills? Lets not forget he was basically captain last season considering how irregularly Terry featured and everybody seemed to respect that, fair enough Terry has always had a heavy influence off the field as well but you cannot say that Terry was captaining the side from the bench, the majority of the games Cahill had the armband he did more than a good enough job last season and that sort of responsibility seemed to elevate his performances, which is a shame that it hasn't done so this year but not a lot has gone right. I like Azpi as much as anybody else but I think it was obvious after Ivanovic left in January that Gaz would become vice captain and take over from Terry whenever he would depart. Its completely right that Azpi has gotten that recognition among the squad and manager to be named vice captain, absolutely, and if he had arrived a year or two earlier he'd probably be the main captain. Agree completley. Christensen is a top talent and had some very good moments this season but I think he had a wobble in a few games in a row and that affected him and us as a team. Not exactly been a great season by Gaz all the way through but hes been solid in the last 4 games or so I'd say. Hes just one of those players who is always going to have to do more to impress than others because people seem to have a big dislike towards him because hes not as good as he once was or isn't as good as somebody else (hes not the only guy in the squad who has this happening to him either and wont be the last) but if he can come in do the job required then doesn't bother me one bit.
-
Great talent and would be a good signing for 25m euros, undoubtedly. Not sure why that scouted football video reckon hes 6 ft 3, hes like 5 ft 6 lol. Although there was already a thread for him.
-
Honestly I hope we finish with Emerson playing LWB to the season is over. He has been solid so far and I think there is plenty more to come from him, just a matter of if Conte will be bold enough to keep him there or not.
-
Not going to lie I think that is a ludicrous statement to make. Fair enough he is not the best defender or player at the club or anything but in terms of having an English club with a homegrown captain, his longevity of being here and experience it was so obvious he'd replace Terry and become captain and to say otherwise would be daft. I'd like to have seen Azpi be captain fair enough because he is a top top player and undoubtedly a top notch bloke but in all fairness I am not surprised one bit that it was Gaz. Even Jose Mourinho said he could be a future Chelsea captain when he was here a few years back. His performances have been alright in the last few games as well considering how poor he was earlier in the season (which is frightening considering how well he played last year) but not many people have mentioned that. Christensen was taken out of the firing line after a few poor games and with that injury scare, its probably been a wise move in general by Conte. Overall if this is to be his last season here (I'd imagine he'll be near the top end of the list of possibilities to leave, especially if Zouma is to come back and be reintegrated in the squad next season) he's been a pretty good value for money signing, 7m pounds from a piss poor team, although hes had a pretty decent spell here. Wouldn't say hes anywhere near the worst captain in PL era though that is a bit ridiculous.
-
True but stranger things have happened.
-
Played in a 3 man MF today and looked better than he previously had done playing in a 2 recently but again gave the ball away a lot.
-
Just worth a shout maybe. Who knows. Barcelona are apparently interested in him and I doubt they'd want to play him as a LB considering his lack of pace and level of quality in comparison to Jordi Alba.... Although it could be a bullshit rumour but he has played there beforehand at Fiorentina and I doubt he'd look too out of place in all fairness. Pace isn't everything although for a LWB yes you'd want someone who has a bit more of it like Emerson but as a LCB, he would not be that slow, I mean lets be honest Cahill, Azpi and Christensen are hardly that fast either although Azpi is without a doubt faster than Alonso.
-
I dont have an issue with Rudiger at LCB but I seen a rumour linking Barca with Alonso and they think he can be tried in the CB position. In a back 3 to be perfectly honest I think he'd be worth a shot there. Although I can't see him being played there too often if Conte goes in the summer.

Not sure how Ayew got away with tbf? Pretty full on even if it was accidental
