So if Sarri was to be sacked who next? Big Sam? David Wagner? Thierry Henry? Everyone wanted Jose out, players werent to blame, same with Conte, now same with Sarri. Perhaps we should sell Hazard, Azpi, Willian and the guys who have been here that long. There is clearly an issue with this squad. Managers come and go but the players are the issue for me. Gutless bunch who have clearly lost their desire to compete for trophies.

I think as a young player if you make 3, 4 or 5 big mistakes/really bad performances its more difficult than if your an established player. Especially here with the history regarding youngsters too. Doesnt help inspire young players with confidence about chances, never mind second chances after bad performances.

Have to agree. He started well for a young guy who had limited PL gametime but after the Barca game when he made that awful pass his condidence seemed shot and he was continously poor in many other games, particularly against lower opposition such as Watford and Bournemouth. That said I think hes proved for Sarri in some games he is a reliable option but Rudiger and Luiz, who I am not the biggest fan of because he can be provide a cock up every so often, are the best pairing we have at the moment. AC needs to push his way in through good performances and not based on the fact hes 22 or 23 years old and can be a long term CB option or whatever. Also, his passing against Sheffield was encouring. He is decent with the ball but needs to not be afraid to take risks and step into MF and try what he did to assist CHO more. Luiz does this to great effect almost every game and its a big part of why Sarri likes him Id imagine so if he can continue to improve in this regard as well as continue to be solid enough defensively when he gets a chance, you never know. Like CHO, Ampadu, there is natural talent there. He can be developed. Just needs to work and make that spot his own with dominant performances if he gets a run of games like he did under Conte before his form turned. Im not sure that he is physically at the level he should be either, hes quite slight for a CB.

Be pretty bold to strip the longest serving player of the captaincy, even though hes hardly featured. Could go down badly in dressing room as everyone undoubtly has a huge deal of respect for Gary for what hes achieved here. Would you of expected Conte to do it to JT when he didnt play? Or strip Brana of vice captaincy when he didnt play either for months before he left? Dont see the issue, really. Cahill is deservedly club captain and will go out as club captain due to his longevity here and experience. All the talk of Sarrk making Eden captain in the summer was odd, particularly even more recently after all the comments Sarri made recently about him being an individual more than a leader too or whatever it was. Azpi is definitely going to be club captain when Cahill goes permanently and will be the same for him if he does play or doesnt.
-
Bit early to start writing off Ampadu in that role after one meh game. He has the characterisitcs to play there I think and with a bit of coaching and patience Sarri could get him up to speed for that position so he can be more than suitable to play that role in the future. After this whole CHO saga, giving youth like Ampadu more minutes is actually a good idea. Wont happen overnight but he can become a very capable back up in that role I think. Doesnt have to be a crbon copy of Jorginho, we seen he can play longer passes (bit more work and he wont misplace as many as the othee night) and is obviously comfortable getting the ball and moving it (again more minutes and coaching will get him playing one and two touch more often).

Thats a bit of a odd statement to make mate no offence. For me, every club tries to develop or maximize the performances of every player they have so it improves the team or the squad. If we didnt want to develop CHO there would be something horribly wrong because the talent is there and can affect games. Every player can still be improved regardless of age.
-
One of the best in his position in the PL. If we can do it, why not? I was still surprised we didnt eye him up after he left Ajax. 11m quid he cost.
-
FA cup and injuries led to that more rhan anything. As well as poor form after the first 10 to 15 games under Sarri. Seasons only halfway through too...
-
Yes just like my comment pointed out he wasnt the only one.... or the worst for that matter. Azpi and Ampadu probably gave the ball away a lot more.
-
So did Callum, Barkley, Kovacic, Ampadu, Alonso, Azpi.. was a commom theme tonight at times. Was an excellent pen, cool as you like. Never looked like missing.
-
So is he still fat and slow? Can fairly shift despite not being really quick and pace has never been something hes credited with either. Goals will come, movement was good, link up was neat and tidy.
-
Thought Willian did well tonight. 2 great goals. Edged MOTM for me ahead of Kova (probs a unpopular opinion haha), lower opposition fair enough bur still. Willian didnt just stand still either he drifted around the final third a lot. Good movement from some players tonight eventually. We gave the ball a way a lot at times but was through trying to play forward so fair enoigh sometimes this happens.
-
No forward options for MF to pass to....
-
Lets see how he does tonight. Will his head be in it?
-
If he doesnt want to play tonight, dont sell him, let him rot in the reserves. His job is a footballer, even if he wants out of the club, he should play if hes told hes playing. End of. Pre season is meaningless, wish people would stop using it as a meaningful excuse for anything. Its basically for a manager to get experiment/implement formations or whatever and its there to get the players match fitness up. Also how many games did Moses play for us this season? A handful? So if CHO played maybe a few more games hed he happy or fans would be happy? I doubt it. If your going to use a lack of playing time at least compare him to someone who features regularly... jesus christ. Moses. Really. Also Sarri likes experience? What about Diawara, Zielenski, Hysaj, Milik... younger players he worked with at Napoli? People saying Sarri has fucked up need to get a grip. First 10 games or so we were unbeaten. Nobody said CHO should be starting then. If the team was playing well and winning, who would give a shit? Nobody. Just like in the past when we won nobody was that bothered about young players coming through. And thats pretty true. CHO could have played more yes. He still has plenty of time too though and Willian and Pedro are worse than what Bayern have out wide too.... Youd think we just signed Messi and a handful of other world class attacking players and he has to leave for the good of his career. Again. If he wont play tonight, take a tough stance, demand more money, fine him and let him play reserve football rest of the season.

100% agree. People were jumping the gun saying he could come from Vitesse and be part of the squad in the summer. I am under the impression he needs maybe 2 years of regular PL football to develop still. Right now, we all know he likes to go forward, hes good at freekicks and corners etc but does he really have the other facets to his game to play as the advanced 8 in a Chelsea/Sarri 433 next season? Or any hugely outstanding ones? Not for me. Statistically he takes more shots per game than he makes key passes and he is dispossessed 1.9 times per game. Not bad but 4 goals and 2 assists in the Championship, theres the huge scope for improvement which must come from him being more decisive, having more of an impact in the middle and final third. Decision making, when to shoot when to pass more? You dont shoot you dont score but weve seem with Barkley its not always the answer. I hope he can add more goals and assists from open play this season though. Maybe have more an impact in the middle third too. Huge potential but I would say physically and technically the championships a huge change from the Dutch league, where everyone tries to play out and attack.
-
Obviously the man himself too but I am talking guys who are more modern day. Even then nobody will forget Cryuff because the effect he had on football as a whole is still huge in the modern day, your Peps, Bielsas, Sarris etc and the likes of Barcelona, Holland and Ajax as a whole all have his influence ingrained in their philosophies and traditions. Without Cryuff none of these guys or clubs would be as they are. Hes arguably one of the most important figures in modern footballing history. Not even just for his legacy as a player, as a manager.

Potentially. I think Ajax knew how good de Jong and de Ligt could become but didnt expect such a fast trajectory for them. Could be same for this gut if he were to be a regular feature. Great club for talent though, hope they never change being so committed to young players. So many guys like Sneidjer, Van der Vaart, Ibrahimovic, Suarez, Huntelaar, Seedorf have all gone through Ajax at some point and all have had amazing careers, along with countless others. De Jong, De Ligt, Neres, Dolberg are all gonna go on to bigger things too in next few seasons.

Would be surprised if a kind of 8th-14th place PL team didnt consider him. Relegation battle probably not his scene as a lot of them are physical counter attacking teams, would need to be a team that play decent quick football on the deck to utilize him best. Bournemouth maybe. Theyve plenty of runners and pace as it is, bit of guile would help.

Theres on their last legs but have been 2 of Bayerns better players this season... as they have been for years... while being in there 30s... James arrived like a year ago in the summer when Ancelotti was there. They are hardly that much older now 😂 Gnabry the Arsenal reject, who Bayern tapped up and signed him off Werder 6 months after they bpught him off Arsenal on the cheap as they wouldnt sell to Bayern directly. Arsenal reject yes but just like Salah and de Bruyne the Chelsea rejects? Dont be so arrogant to assume CHO is better just because their willing to smash their transfer record for him. Gnabry is a German international, who was excellent at Hoffeinheim last season scoring 10 goals in 22 gamss. Theres no doubting CHOs potential yes but hed effectively be 4th or 5th choice to start with. Never heard of Kingsley Coman? Won league titles with PSG, Juventus and Bayern before age of 21. Has fallen off the wagon a bit since Pep left Bayern but the talent there is frightening and there is glimpses every now and then. Was considered one of the best young players not long ago before Mbappe burst on the scene and still plenty time to show it. Fully fit his pace is a real asset. Likes of Muller etc have struggled but Bayern have struggled as a whole this season. When Bayern play well Muller is always in about scoring or making goals. For such a rounded but hardly outstanding player he has had a huge impact at club and country level. Sarri not playing CHO every week isnt an issue for me, I doubted hed start every week but most games I expected to see him get 25-30 mis or so off the bench, particularly if we needed to get back into a game. Again a January move to Bayern seems odd. Summer yes 100% makes more sense but January mot so much. Leipzig would be better for him at this moment in time. Dortmund wouldnt even be a good move at the moment for CHO.
-
I doubt it. Scoring taps in the championship is fine but we seen how bad he was for Swansea. Hes a year wiser for it but I dont think we should be rushing him, he needs another crack at the PL somewhere else, to show he can do it before even being considered to come back here. General play still leaves a lot to be desired.
-
If he wanted to stay here he wouldnt have accepted Monaco's offer in all fairness. He didnt want to be a second choice/string player, which is why he was open to the offer as it guaranteed him more of a chance to play, which is more important than money, and in all fairness it was either going to be this month or the summer it happened with his contract running down. As well as the clubs stance on over 30s and wanting to rebuild the squad he would probably have been an unfortunate casualty anyway but I think he had plenty to offer still.
-
Rumors of Kagawa being avaliable from BVB for 2-4m euros. Would be a bargain for someone. Still a good wee player.
-
Ribery, Robben, Coman, Gnabry, even James and Thomas Muller can all play in those wide positions. James didnt even get a start most weeks in any of those 3 attacking positions behind the CF at the start of the season. They are breaking the bank because the markets inflated and we rate Callum very highly, much higher than what City rated Sancho only selling him for 7m obviously, or they didnt expect him to do so well so fast. If CHO isnt willing to wait to the summer to try break ahead of Pedro and Willian, why move to Bayern in January to be stuck behind at least 4 much more senior players (Ribery, Robbem, Coman, Gnabry - all good in their own regard and better than Callum for sure) as well as their new signing Davies who arrived from the MLS. Throw in Muller and James who can operate on both sides too if needed if there was say a massive injury crisis. Going now makes no sense, in the summer makes more sense because Ribery and Robben both probably wont be there. Even then if he goes now or in the summer, he wont go to Bayern and start instantly every week,l because regardless of how stupid this club can be, if your good enough to start for Bayern Munich, youd simply be starting here.

He probably wouldnt be on the bench if Costa wasn't injured/suspened/whatever reason he wasnt playing. Kalinic is going to be sold which is why Atletico want Morata. To replace him.
