Perhaps. Maybe could of went for a header also but not sure. Still a big chance, and the sort he has got to start converting at some point in his career if he ever is to be a truly elite striker/attacker.
-
Great decision. What else can he do there? Well done VAR for once 😂
-
🤣 True to a degree but the fact he’s tried to lift it makes me think he could of maybe tried toeing it to either side of Alisson. Why he’s tried to dink him when hes a yard off his line was disappointing decision wise but maybe a sign of him being overconfident?

Going to need a second goal to make it more likely to secure the win as well as backing up how well we have played I think. The performance has been very good, really impressed with Kante and Jorginho in the middle of the pitch, up against a 3 man MF technically and they have strolled it so far I would say. These fuckers will come out the blocks second half I would imagine, so hopefully we can keep looking to play as we have done and get a second goal before 60-65 minutes then pick them off.
-
It would be 2-0 regardless if Werner scored that chance beforehand, which was unfortunate but you’d expect someone playing for a team like us to score that. Offside goal was very tight, need to see it again but undeniably should of been 1-0 before.
-
Yes get the fuck in. Well deserved has been getting into these sort of positions for weeks now just not scoring/assisting.
-
Chilwell lucky there needs to be tighter to Alexander-Arnold everyone knows given space he will find his team mate with a cross. Christensen doing well a few times there. Also, Werner and Ziyech complaining about a foul and standing with their arms in the air forgetting the games going on, play to the whistle this isnt Holland or Germany... stream must be behind everyone else’s 🤣
-
Get in. Should be his second goal though. What a ball from Jorginho also. “Never passes forward/never creative” Alisson horrendous again though 😂 Never mind wow fuck sake
-
Another big chance for Werner, loves a big miss
-
Looks a bit more cautious with no Hudson-Odoi at RWB and also Werner through the middle as opposed to Giroud with Werner on his left in the line up is different. And am a bit surprised Ziyech is still in the team. No Kovacic is another one that is a bit surprising but still a decent line up. Hopefully manage a good performances and result. Few boys out there with a point to prove, particularly Ziyech and Chilwell and also Werner, again, now in a more central role.

For the cash we will want Villa could find a much better player. Lets hope their not smart enough and end up buying him from us. He cost us 15m, if they offer more than 20m we should take it. One of the most overrated and overwhelming English players in the PL at the moment. I mean even some Villa fans are unsure if he is worth trying to buy for the £35m price because he doesn’t win games for them enough.

Huge overreaction. Havertz signing is also like signing Hazard. Once in a generational talent. Its up to the manager to then find where to play him. The board don’t pick the starting 11 or where’s best to play them unlike what people seem to keep making out. Also Rudiger and Alonso are performing, as are Jorginho and Kovacic in this last period. Is that their fault that they are playing well? Or that some others in similar positions aren’t? I agree on Tomori but he ended up leaving because Lampard didnt play him and he wanted to play football, what do you expect him to do, particularly at his age? Or Lampard to do if he asks to leave/wants more minutes? Ok good opportunity for him to go on loan “na your staying to sit on the bench/not even make the squad as you have done the majority of this season”. The manager picks the team not the board. Lamptey wanted to leave regardless as he wanted to progress his career while playing and he plays in a position where the clubs captain is and Reece James also plays, who is a better player also. I swear some people just moan for the fucking sake of it 😂
-
Exactly. People are freaking out over nothing. Yes he could of went on loan but I think he will get minutes with Tuchel. Games v Liverpool, Everton, Leeds and Atletico Madrid are coming up in the space of 2 weeks and with Mount and Jorginho out of the Atletico game, Tuchel will perhaps try and manage Kante, Kovacic and Jorginho’s minutes as undoubtedly Kovacic and Kante will play v Atletico from the beginning due to Jorginho’s suspension. So we hopefully will see more of Billy. Also out of the guys Lampard gave debuts to/more prominent roles in the team to, how many were 18/19? Tammy, Reece, Mason and Fikayo weren’t IIRC. Would be panicking more if he was in Abraham’s position or Ruben’s, being 23 or over and missing match day squads or being loaned out at 24 or 25.

And all are probably better. Well Michy isnt and Chupo-Moting isnt but hes the ultimate squad player, small salary, play 4 different positions, plays 10-20 minutes most weeks/dead rubbers without any fuss when everyones fit. Morata has scored goals for Juventus, Real Madrid and also Spain (18 goals in 36 games). He has scored over 100 club goals in all competitions since 2014 playing for Juventus twice, Real Madrid, Atletico and us. Moise Kean is having an pretty good season in terms of goals at PSG, hes in double figures in all competitions IIRC. No way Tammy is going to go there and play every week particularly at PSG where their main 9 is probably Mauro Icardi who is a better player comfortably and Juventus who dont even always start Morata... Dortmund if Haaland goes, they would go for someone better undoubtedly. I think he’d maybe score goals but Michy did there and hes hardly an good player either. Maybe. His goal record isnt actually all too bad here in all comps I suppose for someone who hasnt got a huge deal of experience at a high standard, 30 goals in 80 games, but his general play hasnt kicked on much and that will limit him as a player because when the goals dont come he isnt any help to the team. Start of the season it looked like he has improved it a bit but he slowly regressed. I think regardless if he wants to stay or go, we will go for another number 9 of a high level. So the balls in his court. Tuchel has a reputation for improving players so it may be a big loss for him in terms of his career development if he goes and drops down to a smaller club perhaps. Although not necessarily as playing every week is also appealing and can help immensely. If he went to Leicester for example, but I can see Brendan Rodgers going for a reunion with Eduoard from Celtic, or even go to the other half of Glasgow for Morelos, as I think both will inevitably leave the Old Firm in the summer and if its a matter of Eduoard/Morelos or Abraham, I think theres no doubt who are the much better all round footballers.
-
I hope whoever wrote the article is seriously not suggesting Juventus, PSG or Dortmund will want to sign Tammy Abraham 🤣
-
Yeah that could be another way to go. I still dont know though, seems a lot to expect us to be a top team without an actual top number 9. City may mix it up and false 9 with Foden, Sterling, De Bruyne or whoever but theyve got Aguero and Jesus who is an adequate back up. Spurs have Harry Kane. Even United have got Edison Cavani. We need to make sure we get one, more so as Giroud is aging and Abraham really only looks capable of being a squad player at this level.
-
No idea. Haaland is the only name being linked which is alarming as you’d think as much as we would like to sign him there may be a chance we wont so we need a contingency plan. Cannot afford to go into next season with only Giroud, Abraham and Werner. Never going to close the gap to the top top teams with those 3.
-
I think if Paolo Maldini is able to convince him to go there in the first place its going to be difficult to get him back.... I think he will stay there. Also I think we will be open to negotiating the price.
-
Lets be honest, even with that context, it is still not great and with what, 12 games left, surely someone of his calibre should easily be looking to score more than 4 or 5 goals considering we have to play teams like Leeds, West Brom, Palace, Brighton, Fulham and Villa in those games who are much much more inferior than we are. Also, if he reaches say 10 goals, lets look at it now, inferior players such as Callum Wilson and Ollie Watkins have 10 PL goals already. Patrick Bamford has 13 PL goals already. He is tied for PL goals with players like David McGoldrick and Bobby De Cordova-Reid... its not great company if your a 25m signing yet alone a 52m one. I suppose we should be more worried if he doesn’t get over 10 although he would be close/over 10 if he didn’t miss those big chances but with 12 PL games left, he seriously has to start scoring regularly or hes probably not even going to get to 10. I mean he scored 4 PL goals under Frank in half a season, going from November to what February without a goal and 1 in the PL with Tuchel, who has been in charge for 6 PL games. Its not exactly a guarantee so heres hoping he gets to 10 at least. Although he will still be heavily criticised and rightfully so based on the 4 or 5 big sitters hes missed and to do with the majority of his performances and price tag.
-
Disappointed again. Hopefully next season he will be better. Has never got to grips with the speed or intensity in the PL and even in the European games. All of the summer signings bar Mendy, Silva and Chilwell (first 4-5 months with Frank) have disappointed greatly from what was expected.

Double post fs haha

Thats a poor excuse really. When its roles reversed and Alonso has filled in as a LB in a flat 4 despite being a wingback under Frank particularly, it wouldn’t be mentioned or your whole giving people slack thing either it seems to be very selective when its players people prefer over others. Also if Alonso was on instead of Chilwell and played like Chilwell did today, this thread would probably be totally different (not even debatable as there seems to be a massive percentage of users who are very selective in their criticism on here for other players because they “dont like them” or “think they should be replaced” yet if other people in the same positions play not well, its not mentioned. Which is precisely why I think if it were Alonso who played like this today, it would be a very different thread).... so thats the last I am gonna say about it now. I agree the team do crumble under pressure at times but someone like Jorginho who is always making himself available and is confident to take the ball under pressure helps that. Hes always showing for it, or telling people where to play it. Love him or loathe him, in possession he is a necessity at times. As is Kovacic, who can also dribble out of a press. I am surprised Tuchel didn’t play Jorginho, we have played better football with Frank and Tuchel having Jorginho, Kovacic and Mount in the starting 11. I just hope that Tuchel isnt going to go around the way Frank did by shoehorning Kante in instead of Kovacic, Jorginho or Mount at times as we seem to handle the ball better when those 3 all play. Like playing him v Southampton was a mistake. I understand maybe he was worried about United’s transitions but again if we are going to impose ourselves on the game and dictate possession, be it v a Man United or a Stoke City or whoever, Jorginho will be key until we find another player who can do the role better and maybe offer more physically.

No not very often either, that we can agree on but your making this out as if I am saying Alonso does all these things or is Roberto Carlos. I am not and as I said there I will say it again, I am comparing Alonso and Chilwell’s performances. People use this stick to beat Alonso saying he doesnt do these thing’s Chilwell apparently does, yet Chilwell plays and he does nothing? None of these things? He made that one run fair enough but I tend to remember him doing nothing else and didnt actually see any real improvement from the last game he played where he was taken off v Sheffield. Again as I said (which you’ve obviously chose not to read) I am not making Alonso out to be amazing or a top FB but hes played better than Chilwell recently and thats why I think its clear he will be TT’s first choice until Ben forces TT’s hand, which wont be from todays game. Also ok he didnt play today yes fair point, but hes played 523 minutes since the start of February. For someone who constantly moaned about Lampard overplaying players etc do you not think its also fair to assume that Tuchel may want to change players based on minutes or even just give someone else a chance? Chance given being more what I think Chilwells appearance was but ultimately a chance he never took. We had a lot of the ball, I dont know what more you expect Kante to do with the ball than what he did today. We seemed to not have a real control for 30 minutes of the first half and lost easy passes. United may have more pacey players but when you have most of the ball you want to be in control and thats why I felt Jorginho would of been more appropriate because there were moments where we weren’t really. He played v Spurs and Atletico who are counter attacking teams. Atletico also pressed up high in moments and we played out very well and he was a big part of that. The pace thing, its not like Spurs didn’t have Aurier, Son, Bergjwin, Sissoko who are all very quick when we played them or that Atletico dont have pace in their team either with Lemar, Correa, Felix... I mean United had Greenwood, Rashford, James in attacking areas. Its much and much the same amount of relatively fast players. Obviously some more quick but the points the same.
-
Yet he started v Atletico and Spurs? Who primarily counter attack also?
-
Did you see how many passes we gave away? Or how slow things got at times after our start in the first half? Kante did well recovering the ball, stopped a good counter 2nd half but again like v Southampton, in possession, not really effective.
