  1. Why is Emerson turning back in there and going to Zouma again? Was like 4 mins ago? Hes left footed open up and let it run across your body. Could of played to Alonso. Thats basic stuff man. Just slows us down again. Hopefully be words said at HT, everything’s ponderous and Abraham cant hold the ball up when it gods to him either so it ls coming back at us.
  2. Interesting with Emerson at LCB. His ability on the ball and being a fullback, probably be similar to playing Azpi on the right in a way. Not exactly but similar. Also, Tammy is so frustrating.
  3. Aye. Still think he preferred Verratti higher up though, probably why he bought Paredes and got Danilo Perreira as they are very comfortable in possession, capable of moving the ball into the opposition half from the defence.
  4. Actually, at Paris he actually used Marquinhos a lot as his deepest midfielder, particularly in bigger games and also had Paredes and Danilo Pereira (signed this summer) to play as that deeper midfielder although Paredes is more closer to a metronome yes. Verratti played a bit higher and had a bit more freedom. Weigl at Dortmund was really the only one in that mould he used in that position although I have no idea about what his set up was like at Mainz.
  5. Their totally different playing styles and positions regardless. Ok Fabregas played deeper under Jose for a bit and with Conte in a MF 2 but under Wenger, Pep, the other Barcelona bosses and Del Bosque he was more of an advanced midfielder or even false 9 (more so for Spain at times after 2010) throughout the most of his career. Comparing most modern day PL midfielders to Fabregas isnt fair either, Fabregas spent countless seasons in the PL and was always one of the best midfield players hands down without a shadow of a doubt, at Arsenal for a few seasons he was fantastic playing as the most advanced midfielder which eventually led to his move to Barca. Probably a modern day PL great, I mean if people consider the likes of Aguero, Kompany, Hazard boys like that then Fabregas is 1000% one, second top assists IIRC. His all round passing ability and final ball is something you rarely see now a days in central midfield players, he was always a threat with long passes in behind teams or short passes in behind teams. Midfield now seem to excel at one or the other. Not both. Bar a handful but these guys are the likes of De Bruyne, Thiago, Pogba and Fernandes. Who are top quality players. But again Jorginho isnt a creative midfielder or even play in the same position Cesc has for the majority of his career. Its like comparing Kevin de Bruyne to Fernandinho. Two totally different players.
  6. He has been one of our best players under Tuchel.... him and Kovacic’s first half v Spurs was as good as I have seen from one of our midfield duos since Kante and Matic v Everton in the 5-0 game at the Bridge under Conte. I know they faded but the whole team did. Theyve kept playing at a decent level and hopefully it continues. The only negative has probably been the reintroduction of Rudiger who showed how clueless he is v Sheffield with that OG that sums him up.
  7. Dont give me that Jason, thats lazy. Guys like Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have spent years playing as a left winger under various managers at United but they always come in off the line and played as inside forwards. Eden Hazard also did the same at times here. Its not as if Timo was fixed on the left wing and told he cannot move from there. Its just laziness to suggest so, almost as if everything that happens isn’t Werners or any other underperforming players fault.... Lampard can be only be blamed for so much, I think your purely blaming Lampard and not Werner which isn’t exactly right and its not just the same for Werner its the same for several others. No doubt Lampard’s tactics and style of football deserves some blame but did he say to Timo your playing left wing, you cannot go inside closer to the goal or you have to provide the width in a system where the fullbacks continuously overlap and cross the ball? Don’t be so naive. Look at Pulisic on the left wing for us last season as a prime example how many times did he arrive in the box? How often did he drift inside? A lot. If you cant see that then I suppose we should 100% agree to disagree on Werner. Just seems very biased. As if nothing was his fault. Also v Newcastle he did well, more than just the assist, he and Tammy were the best players on the park quite comfortably.
  8. I agree with Havertz he has a higher ceiling but his age and lack of being played in one prominent position as good as it may seem for someone to be versatile, for me gives him more leniency as ultimately it’s still difficult to see where his actual best position is. Again, with TT we are playing more to Timo’s strengths I will agree but as I said before with Frank in charge, he still had to do more. He isnt a winger for sure but the chances he created for Mount and in the last 2/3 games shows he is able to affect games more even if not playing as a central striker. Being wide on the left he had the chance to come infield more even with Frank but he was nowhere near good enough in those games most of the time and this was a concern. He did it v Newcastle for instance on the left side. Good players are adaptable and find other ways to affect the game, this is why I am disappointed with him the last few months. Others struggled for sure also with Frank but that still doesn’t explain the huge misses or the games he was virtually anonymous playing on the left. His confidence had gone also I think but I mean the chance he created for Mount are you telling me he couldn’t do that under Frank? Or be more productive at times? I get your a huge Werner fan and from your posts I can see this but he has had a huge period where even playing as a LW or CF where he was awful with Frank theres no two ways about it. Can say it was Positions, tactics or whatever but ultimately he still didn’t do enough. And good players even playing out of position, still find ways to affect the game or adapt to the system. Kante under Sarri (after many questions I felt he grew into the role well), Azpilicueta under Conte and now Tuchel, Hudson-Odoi under Tuchel v Wolves.... good players adjust. Obviously you have to accommodate him as he is a very good player and get him performing but he also had to adapt whilst playing on the left, do a job for the team, a position he has played at times in his career and with the German NT, and he simply didn’t at times. Being a striker is the hardest position in football I have no doubts about that but he started well playing on the left and as a CF, why couldnt he replicate or affect games in a way he was before? He could have done much more. Suppose we will probably agree to disagree.
  9. I think Bayern might be where he goes. I really do. Fantastic club and finding another Lewandowski level CF will be a mission so Haaland and maybe Mbappe be their only choices and even then Mbappe is hugely out of their usual price range. Plus isnt there a 65m release clause for Haaland?
  10. Havertz was a 20/21 year old who played in maybe 3/4 different positions in his career when we bought him though and Werner is 24 coming 25 having played as a CF/left sided striker or winger for the majority of his. He is a much more established player with more football under his belt, I get the new league stuff and that but he simply wasn’t good enough regardless of his positions or whatever under Lampard. His finishing was meant to be a strength but he missed at least 5 or 6 big big chances under Lampard that even someone like Morata would probably have scored. I get people mentioned he missed a lot of big chances but that’s acceptable if your still scoring and he wasnt. Even his general play what we see now under Tuchel, we didnt see that under Frank for a time. The blame has to be shared between him and Frank, obviously we know the tactics wasn’t fantastic but individual players of high quality, like Werner is, you’d expect more regardless and its no surprise why people are still sort of concerned that for maybe bar 2 or 3 games in the last 15 he hasn’t looked anywhere near it. Until he scores a goal in the PL people will still be concerned and quite right because he was expected to be a catalyst in terms of adding goals to this side. Havertz you can give a bit more leniency to as hes younger and probably has yet to find his best position in his career as he’s played right wing, upfront, as a 10, as an 8 but again he has also disappointed me this season. Hopefully both improve next season but if they don’t then TT will probably find himself in a similar position to what Frank was because they were signed to be key figures and ultimately, they have to deliver.
  11. Sitting watching Leeds Palace game. Patrick Bamford impresses every time I see him. Not a top 4 or 6 player but his general skill set suits Leeds down to the ground. Deceptively quick as well.
  12. Maybe but the attack being more fluid is probably less to do with the shape right now and more to do with the actual movements from the players. I think the likes of Mount’s goal is probably something we will hopefully see a bit more of over time with the movements in and around the box. Its not as if when we played 4231 or 433 with Frank and even Sarri as if the system was really the issue as opposed to individual player movements. I wouldn't say he’s shoehorning people into positions either for the sake of it. Yes he played CHO as RWB and subbed Pulisic on there also in the first game but other than that he hasnt really shoehorned anyone in anywhere. Also I think Mount, Ziyech, Pulisic, CHO will all suit these narrower positions off a front man like Pedro, Willian and Eden did with Conte because the wingbacks provide the width and moat teams play with a back 4 so it leaves spaces inside for these players. I think normally if Tuchel had a pre season he would of had several different chances to try different formations and maybe we will see that in a cup game but I would think that he will probably stick with the 3 for now as you dont really see managers change from a system that has won 4 games in a row.
  13. Hes struggled defensively for a bit and in phases of the season with Frank. Vs Southampton, the 3-3 game, he was particularly all over the place defensively I felt. Said right at the beginning before we signed him defensively he wasn’t brilliant but again, have to be patient and also I think he prefers playing in a back 4 than as a wingback. He had a good start and for 50m you would expect that but even then over 4/5 years or whatever his contract and if he can be a bit smarter defensively and get his final ball more consistent, he will be an excellent player for us. Would probably of still preferred Regulion because he looked very complete in both sides of the game at Seville (and in some of the games for Spurs I have seen, you can see this also) but Chilwell has been a pretty good signing so far. I hope Tuchel can get Chilwell to get his final ball to be better or more consistent because he arrives in the final third a lot as well as his defensive awareness, which can be better.
  14. Be honest the 3 is working don’t see why we should change it regardless of who we play. You can see a structure with it and it really suits Azpilicueta, Jorginho, Kovacic, Mount, James, Hudson Odoi etc. by the looks of it. Plus Emerson, Alonso, even boys like Ziyech and Havertz, this shape gives them more freedom and less defensive responsibility. I do think the 3 will be what we will use to the season ends barring injuries to be honest. Pre season then he can implement another system cause he will have more time. I still think even under Frank the 3 worked better than 4 at the back. TT also hasn’t had the luxury of a pre season to train different systems or try them out because already in 3 weeks he has 5 games to play so he has had to find a shape that suits the majority of the players and to importantly win as many games as he can.
  15. Just me who thought he played decent last night? Seems that many have made their mind up on him but if he can cut somethings out of his game he can be a very useful player for us still. Won some big headers last night and showed a bit more intent on the ball. Not the most physical CB and if he can bulk up a bit or be more clever for duels in the same way Thiago Silva is, theres no reason why if TT persists with a back 3 he cant be a part of the squad.
  16. Tuchel has already achieved more in his managerial career than Redknapp did. So he has no right to talk. I mean you dont have a reputation like Tuchels if you dont have something about you. The players hes improved, success at Mainz, reviving Dortmund after Klopp and taking PSG to their first ever CL final didnt happen by luck. Also does that mean that Pochettino’s reputation will take a dive in Redknapp’s eyes now hes at PSG?
  17. Unfortunately he’s just someone who people don’t seem to see the value in having someone like him in the team despite his obvious quality at retaining possession and the fact Tuchel is heavy possession orientated. He will be a key cog under Tuchel I feel. No surprise hes recalled him and no surprise we played our best football in the last 2 seasons with him, Kovacic and Mount in the first 11.
  18. I think the fact Zouma is again just back from a wee knock/injury, people are reading too much into it. Rudiger was poor tonight but thought Andreas was alright and Azpi was consistent as usual.
  19. Rudiger...... shite. why did we loan out Tomori?
  20. Rudiger for their goal. How? What the fuck? Unbelievable. Guys a fucking bomb scare.
  21. Great ball. Great finish. Pity HT is 2 mins away. More of this second half please. General build ups been ok just final third letting us down. James and Chilwells final ball been poor and haven’t seen a great deal from front three really bar that goal.
  22. Did you watch the Spurs game? He was everywhere and played very well with Mateo if you ask me. I think anyone who complains at how we are playing has a real cheek tbf. We look 10 times the team we were under Frank for the last however long. Even without a real cutting edge the improvements are easy to see already, theres a clear identity and a structure. I mean give the guy a bit of time this is after what 2 weeks?
  23. Is this based on anything bar 25 minutes v Sheffield United? Or the fact he replaced Frank? Just seems rather knee jerk...
  24. Full back???? Also Timo needs to stop throwing his arms down if he loses the ball/gets beat /fucks it up, sort of thing you'd expect from a petulant little kid in u11s. Grow up and get on with it.
  25. Tuchel wanted to sign him for PSG apparently. So wouldn’t say its a guarantee. Plus I think after 4 games its premature to say anything, 4 games in 2 weeks need to rotate. Plus Kante had an injury didnt he so not rushing him back to starting games isnt a bad idea.
