  1. Well its not a perfect job to say the least...half the reason why people on here are even thinking that 30 mill for Shaw is reasonable is because we've let other high-potential English talent like Sturridge, slip away for peanuts....whose mistake is that?
  2. And even that's not a certainty...you would think of looking back to the youth team for assurance, but with our recent record with youngsters, there's an uneasy feeling about how we're going to replenish the English quota. I'm not English, but I feel that there has to be any strong representation from the HG quota, as more often than not, those players stick with the same club for several seasons (provided the club is doing well, of course)
  3. Like others said it was Mourinho's mistake, so he had it coming... But at this point, do we really have to care what Eto'o says or thinks at this point...its not like all our hopes of building a team around him have been dashed...
  4. All we need now are SeB and Kojo.
  5. Personally,am not sure even Baines has enough experience at this level...but that's just my opinion.
  6. Fair enough, although Torres was also injured in spells throughout the season. But yes, you're right about no striker being an outright favorite for the starting 11.
  7. Mourinho's first season outside the top 2 in the league, correct?
  8. Then you might also want to ask how Torres starts most of the matches ahead of the other 2...
  9. I wouldn't be surprised if he has taken advice from Scolari to take it a bit easy for the last couple of games of the season..such as not to put himself in the danger of getting tackled or injured before the WC. I'm also turning a blind eye to his recent performances...but only because he was much better at the start of the season.
  10. Knowing what has happened in recent seasons...they'll both be fit, and Torres will still start
  11. Lmao! Still remember when a lot of ppl here suspected Meireles when those reports came out a couple of years ago regarding a PL player taking drugs...
  12. I was thinking of Henrique's post the the other day when he remarked how Carlo' team back in 2010-2011 had a truly offensive lineup. You had the offensive threat of Drogba and Anelka, plus the added goal threat from Malouda (in-form of course) and Lampard. And you have Kalou coming off the bench... Its probably why our attacking movement was much better, our conversion rate was better...(and yes, the full-backs attack support was better too)... You look at the top scoring teams season, and you have not just one, but two teams trying to break our scoring record...and both play with at least two forwards in their formation. I think that's what Mourinho is striving towards, ....to improve the offensive threat from players like Hazard and Schurrle (remember he said he wants him to improve much more next season?) who could perform like second strikers for the team.... its not just about a clever pass from a midfield magician... good attacking movement and goal threat from the supporting players can really do well against a defence that just marks out the lone striker and packs itself with numbers...
  13. That's one big worry...whether we can find another striker like him in this coming transfer window...Even Dzeko the 3rd choice striker at City isn't available..
  14. Yeah, but the thing is by taking the Swede short-term, Chelsea could develop Lukaku for the long-term (if he really has the potential), right? No doubt people would prefer a 25 -27 yr old world class striker., (and Cavani would be my first pick in that category) but if we're talking about developing a younger striker there's not much chance he can get when the first choice striker is going to hang around for 5-6 yrs.
  15. What do you think of Chelsea taking the Swede, and have Lukaku as the 2nd and upcoming striker?
  16. Lol..there'll be a battalion of people that will tell you he scores only in the least significant of games
  17. True..a journalist like that can only be as good as his mole is...and the mole doesn't always have to be right.
  18. Always? When did that did become a thing..? Until this past month I remember the trend was that he would come up with a quip about a horse or a referee to deflect attention from the players performances...
  19. Not that I disagree with you (personally I'm not sure how our midfield will magically start feeding our striker after what I've seen in the past 3 seasons)...but what other candidates are realistically available?
  20. I was thinking the same too...now a lot of fans wish he was back here...But thing is, back in 2010 when Inter knocked us out of the CL, many people were feeling the same way for Mourinho. Guess the grass is always greener on the other side? Anyway we are here, and I hope just for once, the current manager stays here for a bloody long time.
  21. It was mostly average today, and at times really poor...but I would put it down to tiredness more than anything else. He should have come off the pitch instead of Matic.
