You're missing my point...I did say in the previous page that Costa should be much better than those 3 What I stated was that Mourinho was looking for a forward who would have to create chances for himself to pull the team ahead when we're facing a packed defense...And I've not seen too many examples showing that Costa could do that... BUT...one point that does work in Costa's favor is that he can hold the ball pretty well, and could probably help in creating a chance for others... You're right...and ideally that would be all he should have to do. But from what I've seen in the last two seasons our midfield demands more from the forwards in terms of build-up. But I agree Fabregas could be the game-changer here, and of course, Costa should be a better target-man compared to what we have now....

Great goal no doubt, but not what I would call something "created by himself out of nothing", or to be more specific...he did not create the chance entirely by himself. If you take a look at his goals last season: Most are from chances served on a plate for him Also...before someone comes breathing down my back, I'm not in anyway against the signing. I just don't see how he will be the type of forward that Jose claimed he was looking for

Meh...chance for more delightful "guard of honor" moments

Honestly couldn't care about those 2 Spain matches...none of Spain's attack/mid deserved to be judged base off those 2 results... BUT..coming back to Costa... Good striker in his own right...but I'm still not sold on how Mourinho decided that he's the best fit for the team...Jose has repeatedly said he's looking for a forward that "can create goals out of nothing" ...or basically the type of striker we don't have....(and that's fully understandable considering how short of ideas our midfield looked at times)... If you look at a good number of goals scored he has scored this season, you can see that he has been put through on goal with very good service...how many times have we seen our strikers in similar situations? Granted Costa's attacking movement and pace will be eons ahead of our lot, but I doubt he would find that kind of space to run into when playing in our team...not against the majority of PL sides that visit the Bridge. Anyway, I just hope Fabregas' signals a change in our approach play, meaning Costa or any decent forward that comes in gets the service they thrive on...

I like the player, and agree he is one of the best....but 4 good/great years when he's already 29? After seeing someone like Ashley Cole drop off in form from 2011 onward...I doubt Luis can even match that...but I might be wrong,...part of Ashley Cole's game revolved around his physical fitness...maybe Luis is different
-
True,,,but IMO they should bench their central defenders and the goalkeeper before anyone else...Criminal, how Ramos let Van Persie and Robben get past him
-
Another player with a lot of hatred following his transfer...but the big positive is that Fabregas won't have the same pressure that Torres had on himself as a striker to score once every few games...
-
I guess he really turns something on in training, for all his managers to have faith in him...
-
Loaning isn't really the problem..but there could have been other teams besides Cologne where he could have been loaned to
-
Big Sam clearly upset that his 19-century tactics got leaked...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpIbnifxmTg Goal and Assist...he can really be the focal point for any team he plays for..ultimate target-man.

He may or may not be the best suited striker for our formation (he was certainly not the first on my list), but if this deal for him goes through, I feel as fans we should be grateful that our club can sign big name strikers like him merely a few months after he's had his best season...
-
Actually it was more than just "one" moment, and not everyone has the memory of a goldfish. I think its equally illogical to say that the player isn't fit to wear the shirt based of a string of recent performances,.... especially in a season where he hasn't had a decent run of consecutive matches to achieve any sort of consistency.
-
Doesn't deserve to wear the Chelsea shirt? I'd love to hear your version of how Chelsea won its first Champions League...
-
That would seem ironic considering they're going for an 18 yr old, while we're gunning for a 28 yr old LB.
-
Biggest club in England...loved how it made a lot of posters breathe fire on that page...
-
Even if Lukaku is not best suited to our style of play, it would be really stupid to let him go without giving him a good run of games to settle in...it would be worse than how we dealt with Sturridge
-
Correction..Nyfc share the same owners..its not like he's pulling on their sky blue jersey, although if it makes you happy there are rumors about him playing for City for a few months before heading to the US
-
I'm sorry, I'm not going to ask you to change...but it seems that with every post you make, you're trying to irk the regular fans on here...
-
Well if we do lose out on him now..hopefully we can do an "Ashley Cole" and get him when he's older and in his prime.
-
palmeri and Gazzetta combine to give the facts...said no one ever
-
Not to mention we've lacked a proper "utility" player since Belletti left...useful signing and a free transfer. Not bad at all.
-
Agree with that for sure....was just saying that off-loading excess Attack Mid's for example, like DeBruyne and Mata (despite all his qualities) for other types of players is not the worst thing..we could actually improve things for any striker coming into the team..
-
Tbf, the service has been pretty mediocre to begin with. More than the players, the problem is with how the team has been setup over the past couple of seasons. With no true wingers, the build-up play was setup around the attacking midfielders. In that kind of setup the striker is just another cog, rather than an outlet for goals. Now, at least we have true wingers like Schurrle and Salah. Definitely a step forward to resolving the "service" problem, IMO

Same case with managers too..
