Well with Ramires and Willian out...the spotlight could very well be on Oscar against Arsenal (unless Mourinho goes 4-3-3 with Lampard and Mikel coming in). This could be the chance for him to step up again.
-
And also...I haven't watched this game...but even then I can't stand Chris Foy...When I saw 2 red cards and Mourinho sent off...I somehow knew that he would be at the bottom of this...Would be great if we could give him the Clattenburg treatment...
-
True words...thing is most Chelsea defeats leave a bad taste that lingers for a long time in my case, but this one won't, I feel.... Games away against the likes of Everton and Villa, never hold much water for me these days...A win is ALWAYS fantastic, but don't really give s*** about any other type of result for these games...
-
Imagine that...Torres with a good start,..Drogba and Torres developing a partnership...probably too good to have been true,..
-
True, Ba deserves a shot to start a game for once. But really glad to hear that Torres might be returning sooner rather than later...
-
Well Steve, you did it get it right last year..so I'll be banking on this
-
The irony in that pic...One of the best headers of the ball in our team is putting in the cross expecting the likes of Ramires and Lampard to head it in. ...Would have been nice if we made our RB overlap with a central or wide midfielder and exchange positions....
-
Did Mourinho confirm this in a press conference? Can't seem to find any other news online...
-
Its really a shame about the niggling injuries, that seem to be defusing any sort of momentum he built up from early in the season.. We will really require his services for the upcoming matches...Mourinho himself has said after the Spurs match that he prefers Torres over Eto'o for away games..
-
That was my impression as well, but I have heard a few people say otherwise... Especially when it comes to clubs that have a large global appeal, and can make revenue through a lot more avenues
-
Having a bigger stadium helps of course, but these days...how much do ticket sales really help with the club's revenue?
-
Sigh,...this page seems to have more comments about Torres and his fanboys than Eto'o... But moving past that..., Eto'o once again stepping up for a big match this season. He could have had 2 more if he hadn't hesitated a bit today, but still his finish was delightful, the ball going under the defender and between Lloris' feet. His reactions are so quick that he easily capitalizes on any mistakes made by the defense...Also has the best close-control of the ball, of all our strikers
-
Well, his afro didn't look any different today...
-
I'm not entirely sure after seeing the last few pages of this thread...If you disregard the fact that the fellow who played up front for us against Fulham had the name Torres, almost everyone would say he had a decent performance for a forward, challenging the keeper, getting shots on target and providing an assist. Not comment after comment about how he should take the next flight back to Spain.
-
Well Schurrle himself admitted in that interview, that him starting on the right was part of the reason for that success against Fulham..Hopefully this will quell talk of him starting as a CF/ST
-
I know we're all begging for a good finisher to join Chelsea ranks...but honestly just being a good finisher doesn't quite do the trick for Chelsea. Else Ba wouldn't be sitting on the bench as long as he has this season..
-
Fine. I agree 1 game is not enough to say there's a pattern, but it doesn't change the fact that it wasn't an impressive performance. I personally feel he can have a better showing coming in from a wide position, and is not well equipped to be a CF(which is what we really need for our play, as opposed to an out and out ST)...certainly not the type to play in the EPL, or as a false 9.
-
The guy who wrote this seems to have lost the plot on how Schurrle thrived on finding space coming in from a wide position. The fact that Torres and Schurrle swapped positions is part of the reason why the Fulham defense got bamboozled for the first two goals And potentially great CF Schurrle? I wonder what he made of the game against United at OT earlier on in the season...
-
Yes we're meant to be more counter-attacking, but we end up playing possession based football against sides that just sit in front of their goal..
-
Well it did help with the game, considering Fulham pulled one back shortly after
-
Needs rest.
-
True,,,...good CF's are in short supply or already have sealed deals with other clubs..
-
Well he scored...He has been decent whenever he started a match this season, as opposed to coming on as a sub.
-
Totally agee with that...despite all their qualities, individual brilliance and hardwork the attacking midfielders fail to provide key passes to release forwards.... In fact how many times have we seen our forwards being put through on goal? The last time I remember seeing that was when Torres scored a brace in the CL group stage, and during a counter attack. The problem is because we don't have a forward that is compatible with our possession based play which what we employ against majority of the teams we play against in the league. We need a true CENTRE-FORWARD and not just a striker.

Injured, and playing with pain from the 9th minute. No point in analyzing today's performance.
