How does Courtois "fight for his place" with another top class keeper, though? When would he get a start in order to prove himself if Cech started the season? When would you decide to pull Cech and put Courtois in? It's not like if you start the season with Cech as the #1 and he concedes a couple so you throw Courtois in. Both are far too good to be fighting for a place with anyone or be on the bench. Don't think either would agree to being resigned to the bench more often than not. A keeper needs stability. Why would either Cech or Courtois want to fight for a place when they could both start for a big club? Just makes no sense. If Courtois is recalled next season then Cech should be sold to the highest bidder OUTSIDE of the Premier League. Should have no shortage of suitors. Maybe even Atletico.

Anyone seen him play recently? I flipped to Madrid's match the other day and he was subbed off for Illaramendi I think. I haven't watched them in a while. Still top class?

I agree that we can't have both in the the same team. If Courtois struggles at all for a couple of matches the supporters would be calling for Cech and it could wreck his confidence. Cech could go and start for just about anyone in Europe, so I don't see why he'd agree to it anyways. He'd just ask for a move I'd think.

Will be interesting to see the quotes from United fans when their club inevitably throw a shit ton of cash at this situation to save Moyes' job. I'll never want to hear "Chelsea and City just buy the league!" again.

United need about 5 players. RedCafe calls their style of football "Dinosaur" football right now because of their dour tactics and lack of creativity. Mata could slot if anywhere along their attack. They can play a more modern style of football with Mata in behind RvP.

Their only mode of attack right now consists of everyone knocking the ball out to Valencia who then attempts (very poorly most of the time) to get crosses in. We are overloaded with creative players and are in dire need of a hard working, industrious, top class forward like Rooney.

Just can't see any way United let him do a Lewandowski and leave for free at the end of his contract. Not only do they have huge debt at the club, but it would cause an enormous uproar amongst their supporters if they let him go for free instead of getting £30m or more to go towards a replacement. Seriously, what would it hurt to test them again this month? Like Jose said in the summer, what does he have to lose? An email? Bid £30-35m and see what happens. It's the most they can expect to get for him with his contract situation. If they wait longer and he has a poor World Cup the price just goes down. Just cash in now and let us have him you bastards!

Can't imagine Rooney playing outside of England. I actually do think he's attainable if we were to offer the right amount. An amount that they'd just want to be rid of the headache. Mata + cash actually isn't looking so bad now. I actually laughed out loud during this past summer when United fans suggested that Rooney was worth far more than Mata and that a direct swap would be really lopsided in our favor, but seeing as to how we're managing to look good without Mata and Rooney has been in terrific form I think cash + Mata could be a fair deal. Think we'd win the league fairly easily with Rooney leading the line. City and ourselves would end the season with a pretty significant gap over the 3 place team.

I was watching in tv and still thought it was a Torres error. Commentators didn't say anything about the keeper and they didn't show a single replay for me. I was wrong, then.

Exactly.Obviously he shouldn't be played there but people are acting like he's been horrible. He's been decent.

I feel like I say this all the time, but we have no plan or ideas around the opposing box when teams park the bus like this. We just give it to one of our AM's and say "make something special happen." We need to be moving the ball around quicker and not slowing down and shooting from distance.

Still would've thought Ba would play a bigger part for us this season. Especially against lower league opposition and bottom table Prem sides. His sheer size and physicality would be difficult to handle. He'd score goals for us if he actually played regularly.
