Im not against it I just think that justin is being very disrespectful because he is in essence saying that we should just tear Stamford Bridge up as soon as possible and show no respect for our past
-
we were founded as a club to fill Stamford Bridge, not the other way round.

It would be sods law that those statues on the chimneys would blow over in the wind

Just out of interest why has the Old Stamford Bridge thread been archived?

As strange as it sounds I am not really looking forward to it. I just love Stamford Bridge and how it perfectly fits our identity as a club- the history of the stadium and the fact that they still play on the same pitch that was first played on in 1905 when it was a massive open bowl. We are one of very few clubs to still be playing in their original stadium. Chelsea FC would not exist without Stamford Bridge being built and we will be leaving some incredible memories there. That Shed Wall is Chelsea, the 1970's East Stand is Chelsea, Fulham Road is Chelsea, Brompton Cemetery is Chelsea, the District Line and Fulham Broadway are Chelsea, the posh houses in the area are Chelsea. It is all the little things that make me love Stamford Bridge. All of those memories will be flattened and replaced by a housing development. However, we should look to the future. We have the potential to compete with Real Madrid, AC Milan, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and our ground could be a really intimidating place. Battersea has always been the hub of our 'real' and 'hardcore' support and a 15,000 seat version of the old Shed end will be truly incredible. The club could have a real impact on the lives of people in Battersea and it would be the springboard for us going from being a regional club to a worldwide club loved around the world. As much as I love Abramovich for what he has done, this will in my opinion be the final nail in the coffin of the 'real' Chelsea FC. proper ground.

Blackburn v Wigan now that's a proper derby

This is from the club and is about the viability of expanding Stamford Bridge http://www.chelseafc.com/page/DocumentsFull/0,,10268~2629432,00.html

Not many seats could be added if we expand Stamford Bridge. The expansion would probably involve adding 5000 or so seats to the Matthew Harding stand, bringing the capacity to roughly 47,000. The Shed End would be the other stand which it would be viable to expand but again not many seats could be added because there are not enough exits and there are houses behind it. That would probably be about 5000 maximum again so we would have 52,000. As for the East and West stands, it is more or less impossible to expand them, even by knocking them down and starting again. The club has calculated that it is not financially viable to expand Stamford Bridge and reasonably it is not possible. For a potential new stadium, 55,000 seems to be the figure thrown around and at the moment it would better suit our fan base size. However, it would probably be built so that we could expand it in the future if we needed to. The new stadium looks as if it could be in Battersea, although Nine Elms and Earls Court are other sites that have been considered. The club has not spoken much about a new stadium though. Battersea has a very large site for a stadium though and regeneration of the area would come with a new stadium. I think that in the near future the CPO will vote in favour of selling Stamford Bridge to the club though because the first vote (when there were only 61% of votes) was at a time when the club had not spoken about the viability of expanding Stamford Bridge and gave no information about a new stadium to the CPO. Therefore, the CPO were not happy to sell Stamford Bridge because they did not know where, when or to what they would be moving to. They now know that moving is probably the better option. As more information is possibly given, the chance of more than 61% voting in favour of selling will most likely increase.

well we certainly put the inbreds in their place. The best bit was that getting off the tube they were singing 'Fuck off Chelsea, West London is ours'- what with you going down to the Championship and playing in a shoebox? We're going to Germany, you're going to Barnsley!
-
we should not underestimate Newcastle because this is still a very important game. They will want to win after getting plastered by Wigan and Ben Arfa, Ba, Cisse, Cabaye have all been playing like players in a top 4 club so we should not be complacent. To be honest, QPR are average shit and they had given up by 3-0 so I wouldn't say that we are now some sort of super team that will be able to demolish anyone. Cech Bosingwa Ivanovic Terry Cole Mikel Meireles Malouda Mata Sturridge Torres

I want Adebayo Akinfenwa The definition of the word 'tank'

Chalobah is not fully developed physically yet we need to give him another year or so before he is playing senior football. If we end up in the Europa League we could keep Piazon, McEachran and De Bruyne for the group stage games and loan them out in the january window. Bertrand should be staying with the first team now because he is good enough and Lukaku should be given a few substitute appearances.

I honestly can't see him succeeding like he did at Barca anywhere else. He had 2 of the best players to ever grace a football pitch (Messi and Xavi IMO) (oh and Thiago while I'm at it ) which he will not have anywhere else. They are 100% Barca and won't leave. However, the success that they got put massive confidence into the minds of most of the other players which has given them an almost fearless attitude. They believed that they were the best which is why they were the best. This year though I think that Guardiola has struggled to motivate himself and consequently the players as well. They have not performed as well. Iniesta and Pique are notable examples. Pep is not the sort of person that can build a footballing empire from my point of view because he has struggled to motivate himself after a few years of incredible success which I guess could be natural- what is the point in trying if you have already won it last year? If he can get some special players at his next club he can motivate himself and the others and be successful but i don't see him being as successful ever again. He is 100% Barca. Apart from at Barca he has made only 56 appearances for other teams and with Barca's passing philosophy he has never been truly exposed to other styles of play.

he deserves a lot of respect today for making the big call of putting Bertrand in. It payed off because he was man of the match and I'm 100% sure that AVB would have put Bosingwa at right back for this game. RdM has put faith in bertrand and it is working
-
Torres continues to play crap yet still gets more support from the crowd than Didier. A lot of the time it is like he is blameless for everything. He was shocking today and his work rate very poor. Sturridge was also awful and should spend the next 2 weeks alone passing a ball against a brick wall until he can actually kick a football to somebody else's feet to be fair to Malouda he does get a lot of unfair criticism. I thought he looked good going forward today and on most occasions his hard work was ruined by Kalou doing something stupid. He does always try and you have to remember that without him we certainly would not have won the double. He was very positive today and was interacting with the fans at corners which shows that he does care.
-
He is only 18 and Drogba was a very late developer, he didn't make a real breakthrough until he was about 23. If Lukaku gets the chance then I am convinced that he will be better than Drogba because he seems to have a natural head start learning from Drogba and physically he is more or less the finished article. Like you say though, he has not been given a chance in the PL yet
-
The players can be very proud of themselves. All of them put in a great shift for the team above all Cahill, Cole, Ramires, Cech and Drogba who had a long night all alone up front. It was always going to be difficult but he was incredible and showed that he can still be world class

Disruption of minutes silence at Semi
Liquidator replied to Changingman_2000's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
People calling them 'scouse cunts' for some of them reacting angrily on forums and the radio is just stupid. We are moaning that all of them seem to think the world revolves around Liverpool yet we are being hypocritical by saying that all of them seem to think that. Just like we have a few stupid 'fans' chanting 'murderers' during the minutes silence they have a few 'fans' chanting things about Munich. Every club has some stupid fans and I can guarantee that most Liverpool fans do not chant 'Munich' and think that the world should revolve around them in the same way that 99% of Chelsea fans know that respecting the silence is the right thing to do. Almost all supporters of both clubs know that the actions of a minority are disgusting. You cannot say things like 'it was their fault' and 'the scouse cunts had it coming' because you are making a stupid generalisation that all of the Liverpool fans who had their lives taken from them were disgusting people. How can people call the victims 'cunts' and other horrible things like that without knowing who they were? A lovely father who just loved football could have died that day, a 12 year old boy who would never see his friends and family again as well. These are humans not 'Scouse twats' etc. . You will most likely find that the majority of the victims were lovely people who had their lives taken prematurely and therefore it is sickening to think of those people in a horrible way because of a minority of Liverpool fans and also because the people who died were Liverpool fans. These are human beings who went out to see a football match and never came home to their families. -
