I would play a 4-1-3-2 with these players: Cech- picks itself really Bosingwa- I know people say he will get caught on the counter attack but if AVB gives him a telling to before the game to stay back then he is probably our only defender who can keep up with Ashley Young or Nani. Terry- picks itself Alex- He was our best player against Man U at Old Trafford last season, making several important tackles and a great off the line clearance. I do not trust David Luiz not to do something stupid at the moment Cole- Pacey enough to keep up with Young and Nani and offers us options when going forward Mikel- I think he could win us the match if he plays well. In the middle of the pitch he can man mark Rooney and also help the full backs to close down Young and Nani quickly because they will be the supply to Rooney. Basically his job is to keep Rooney quiet as he has done with several top class players Malouda- Like Alex, he played very well against Man U last season. Usually plays better without Torres on the pitch. Ramires- Doing his box to box thing will be vital. Helping Mikel contain United's midfield would be his main job but also to offer something in the last third for us too. He should keep Anderson out the game without many problems Meireles- Would offer some much-needed creativity which will be vital when we get our chances instead of Lampard being wasteful Mata- I would put Mata just behind the main striker. This is because his quick feet would show Vidic up for the average defender that he really is. If that fails just a stepover would leave Ratboy Evans on the floor. Could appear on both wings as well to show up Sunday League Smalling too. Sturridge could do a similar job too. Lukaku- Lets be honest he is a tank. Would flatten Evans into the turf (or Vidic). Could be like Drogba helping out the defence at corners too due to his physical presence. Subs: Lampard Hilario Sturridge Ivanovic Anelka McEachran Torres

Right as we all think Man United are so great lets look at their first few games: Manchester City 2-3 Manchester United De Gea has an absolute shocker. Man U's only top class opposition this season Only won due to a defensive mix up in the last minute West Brom 1-2 Manchester United De Gea has a shocker..again The goal came from a fortunate own goal Man U 3-0 Spurs Luka Modric does not play Tottenham had to play average players like Walker and Livermore Tottenham had a game the next Thursday Man U 8-2 Arsenal Very average defence in front of Szychexvengishny The penalty from Van Persie in the first half could have changed the game Arsenal gave them far too much time on the ball. Villas Boas will not allow us to do this Bolton 0-5 Man U A few of the goals they scored were rebounds into an open goal after an initial save. We won 0-4 there last season and nothing was made of that Bolton gave up after 20 seconds Benfica 1-1 Man U Giggs goal gets them out of jail Benfica (who are nothing special) were just as goo as them Obviously I am not saying that their start is entirely down to luck but it has not been incredible. They have only played City in a friendly and when they played Spurs it was a team without any ideas and playing at a very slow tempo. We won our first few games last season 6-0, 0-6, 2-0, 4-1, 4-0 or something similar and look what happened to us by November. United usually start slowly so it could be the opposite of that this season and they may struggle later on. We have a far better defence than the other teams that Man U have played this season

He is only young so he has time to iron out the rubbish marking and silly tackles. Experience will help with that too. However, he does seem to have a sort of 'immature' nature to him so you never know he may always be making stupid tackles.

I would eat my lips if he signed for us

Where did you get the player photos from? -
Have not read it all yet but love the pictures of the ground from back then. Well done mate!

Rafa is a lad. But a crap manager
-
can't you get them off amazon with a first class stamp?

I must say i am not too happy with this. In my opinion I think he is fairly average and that we should try to sign Modric in January instead of making a half-ass job of it and getting Meireles

They are finally sorting it out!.... But it will take until Christmas Why didn't they just sort it out in the Summer, they knew it was not working properly

I think it is a good thing. We have had a small Iberian influence since Mourinho in 2004 when we had Ferreira, Thiago, Carvalho and Mourais. If you watch South American football there is more of an emphasis of skill, passing and general attractive football while there is more of an emphasis on power and athleticism in the Premier League. However, it is important that we do not forget our english roots and continue to bring through English talent. The language barrier of having so many Spanish/Portuguese speaking players will help too

Should we have cashed in on Cole and Drogba last summer?
Liquidator replied to Tomo's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
When you look at the context it is very easy for us to say what we should have done a year down the line. Of course we can look back now and see that Drogba and Cole both had very average seasons in 2010/11 but we did not know that they would be like this. If we had spoken about this after the 2009/10 season then I doubt that too many people would have wanted them to go because we would not assume that we would have such an average season after such a good season -

I went for Ramires because despite playing all through the Summer with Brazil he still looked far sharper than most of the team. As ever, he was faultless for work rate and did his job very well. Credit to Mikel also who played well despite off the pitch issues
