No chance of that happening, wages would be too much for us above all else.
Furthermore I think Newcastle and he will come to one of those "one more year" agreements.

So, how I see things and the way we are buying players, especially attacking players but also the players we are being linked with and also certain players who are here now. The ilk of players we are seeing coming in, lets take Gittens and Joao Pedro as an example as a first, both are renowned for their work rate, not just on the ball but off it, and also they are players who will work like dogs to to get back and help the defensive side of the game. Here is my take on that, Maresca is looking to a box/shut off system where by these players like Pedro, Gittens, Neto, Delap all have serious pace so what I can see with Maressca and what he is trying to do is shut teams out and box them in when we don't have the ball, IE we create a line of four at the back, three mids and two wingers behind the ball, these players Gittens, Pedro, Neto, Palmer, Estavao (Not Delap as I'm talking the striker being the highest player) but us then winning the ball back fast and early and triggering a fast and killer breakout.
This is one of the reasons and why I say it because the likes of Madueke and why he maybe sold is he doesn't do enough off the ball and my opinion this is what Maresca is pining for, these lighting quick players who get back, double up and create a trigger for an overload counter. Now there are players I haven't mentioned but I think you will get the gist of what I mean, he wants grafters, people who will get back and won't moan about it. The signing of Pedro is a smart one for me, Pedro can play comfortably as a 9, Nkunku can't, Nkunku is 10, Pedro offers way more as a 9 and this will take the burdon off Delap because we cannot expect 30 goals from him, great if he does but the lad will need help and whilst Pedro is only young he will help Delap and when we need to maybe change and rest Palmer we can do this with Pedro.
Pedro is exactly the swiss army knife type player we need and he offers so much support and we must utilize him to aid the rest of Palmer, we cannot run him into the floor, we simply cannot. So for me,, sell Nkunku, sell Noni and sell Jacskon, fetch in another wide player but believe me it will be another dog of a worker as I can see a pattern with the signings and what Maresca is trying to do. I could be completely wrong, but just watching us play these last few weeks I'm seeing a pattern with the play and the players we are buying.
We will see @YorkshireBlue

I guess the thinking might be that Gittens is more aggressive and assertive than Sancho and that João Pedro isn’t a lazy ass like Nkunku. Are they “better” players than Sancho and Nkunku? Probably not. Do they suit what Maresca wants from attackers? That must be what the club are thinking.
I’m going to take a wait and see approach with João Pedro. As others have said, Caicedo and Cucu came from Brighton and are beasts now. Maybe this guy can be the next one. He’s clearly super talented.

So I'm guessing you think Eddie Howe and/or the Newcastle squad are terrible then? As they finished below us with no Europe.
Either way, a squad and manager as bad as you say they are won't finish 4th, weak season or not.

They supposedly had a "better window than us" last summer and look how that ended!

Another thing that’s weird about any Kudus link is that he’s the exact sort of player that Maresca has failed to really find a role for like Nkunku & Felix. These guys are not wingers and they’re not classic 10’s. They’re maverick types who kind of float all around.
So Kudus coming in for huge money feels like it would end the same way. With Maresca not trusting him to provide width like Madueke and Nero do and not dropping Palmer for him centrally.
So what’s point?

I think it's a little different, I think he can at times be good with passing (see the build up to Palmers goal at Wolves or Sterlings bad miss vs Leicester in the cup) but lacks the general speed of thought that catches him out.
It's why I would be happy with him staying as back up, if we had say Everton away inbetween PSG/Real Madrid group games or a big knock out tie, it would be a perfect match for him to come in and give Maignan (if we get him) a rest.

A classy exit to be fair
Honestly he seems like a nice guy but he just didn't do enough to pay the sort of wages he probably wants, just another player who Man Utd gave stupid money to. He should get a move back to Bundesliga or basically any league outside of PL and he will have a great career still. Good luck to him tbh

Milan fans from what I've saw still seem to think he's as good as when he arrived.
Although that said some of our fanbase still can't accept Chilwells decline so it maybe emotion talking.

I have seen a bit of him and he is more like RLC, where you look at him physically and see some nice moments and go 'wow, what a player, If he puts it all together he will be unstoppable'.
Problem is, he is essentially is a CM who doesn't track or have the vision to break lines with his passing but has some decent dribbling ability so gets put in a AM role where you hope he comes up against a smaller and not so fast FB so he can domiante them - however that is a tough ask in the PL. I mean, even in the bloody wide open Bundesliga he got found out when he got asked to stop doing 'kick and rush'/integrate into a managers specific system.

Should've read, last time he played in England.
Essentially, the red flags come from him being at Brighton for four years and barely getting a chance, while his loans at Champo sides bore decent to good records. Let's not forget Brighton is a club (the key club of Tony Bloom's club network, no less) who are known to be highly data driven and prone to giving youngsters a chance. Him being there so long and not getting much of a sniff after multiple Champo loans is a serious reg flag.
On top of this, his Champo seasons with Coventry, after being sold by Brighton, where decent but not septactular. He then went to Portugal and put in amazing numbers but this league is also known for churning out players like Darwin and Felix who flatter to decive. Essentially, he kind of screams Kezman. Of course, some players progress much later in their careers, but Gyokeres at £60m plus £250k+ a week for four-five years seems like a risk that you cannot get out of if it goes pear shaped (owing to his age.)

In the first half of the season, Jamie Gittens was the bright spot in an otherwise immensely disappointing BVB team, but since the coaching change, the Englishman hasn't been doing well at all. Recently, the attacker has been more conspicuous off the pitch than on it, and his discontent is reflected week after week in his unfortunate performances. A sobering development for Borussia Dortmund – also from a financial perspective.
When Jamie Gittens stepped onto the pitch at Signal Iduna Park on Sunday evening, the game was already decided. With the score at 3-1 in Borussia Dortmund 's home match against Mainz 05, the 20-year-old came on for Karim Adeyemi as injury time approached.
In the sport.de individual review, Gittens' brief appearance was summarized as follows: "He had no more ball action. It's bitter for him how little his qualities are in demand at the moment."
In fact, the sporting decline of the England U21 international, who is said to be being chased by almost all top Premier League teams, in the second half of the season is as remarkable as it is alarming.
Jamie Gittens no longer a factor at BVB under Kovac
Under Nuri Sahin, Gittens scored eleven goals and provided four assists in 27 competitive matches, and repeatedly boosted Borussia's attacking play. At just 20 years old, he became a one-man showman.
A few months later, he seems lonely and hardly talks to anyone anymore. His personal crisis has taken a noticeable toll on him, something Sebastian Kehl hasn't missed. "You can tell he's frustrated right now," the sporting director was recently quoted as saying by Bild.
A look at the statistics reveals: Since Niko Kovac took office, Gittens hasn't scored a single point in eleven appearances. He was allowed to start six times, but seemed completely out of sorts when he had the chance to prove himself in the starting eleven.
Gittens' performance data since the coaching change Competition Missions Starting eleven Goals Templates Playing minutes Bundesliga 7 3 0 0 252 Champions League 4 3 0 0 188 Or to put it in the words of BVB legend Kevin Großkreutz in his podcast: "If he has a good day, he's a world-class player; if not, he can play for us in the Westphalia League."
Skirmishes on and off the pitch
Significantly, instead of throwing himself into duels on the pitch, the London-born player, who moved from Manchester City's youth team to Dortmund in 2020, has recently become entangled in skirmishes several times.
During the embarrassing 0-2 defeat in the local derby against VfL Bochum, Gittens got into a fight with his own fans, shouting "Shut up" at them.
After the 0-0 draw against Sporting CP in the Champions League intermediate round second leg, in which the youngster was substituted at half-time (Kovac: "He played unluckily"), he disappeared from the stadium catacombs with a grim expression around ten minutes after the final whistle.
And to make matters worse, Gittens also got into a minor dispute with his former teammate Marius Wolf during the 1-0 defeat to FC Augsburg. While such moments may occur every matchday, the scene speaks for itself and fits the picture of the past few weeks.
Three-digit million transfer fee hoped for
Gittens's slump is likely to have caused a few new concerns among Borussia Dortmund's management. After all, the Englishman is part of the Black and Yellows' sparsely-accrued silverware, and they reportedly promised a transfer fee in excess of €100 million in the event of a transfer .
Since BVB can't expect the usual Champions League millions for the coming season, sales are automatically becoming a priority. In the first half of the season, Gittens was still considered the hottest asset, and his market value exploded in line with his form.
But the hype has died down, and at the moment it seems difficult to imagine that an interested party ( FC Bayern Munich was also mentioned ) could be prepared to invest in the three-digit million range in the summer for the left winger, who is tied to the contract until 2028.
Gittens "one of the losers of the coaching change"
Perhaps Gittens simply "overperformed" last fall, as Kovac himself speculated at the beginning of the month ( video below ). So far, Sahin's successor hasn't managed to get the problem child back on track. His penchant for daring one-on-one duels doesn't fit with the new tactical approach, which is geared toward security by minimizing turnovers.
René Langhoff, BVB expert for RTL , sees Gittens in a difficult position. "He's one of the losers of the coaching change. At the moment, it's very, very little," he summarized his recent impressions of the winger.
While the 20-year-old's performance fluctuations must be allowed, partly due to his age, the dream of a three-digit million-euro transfer fee is currently "utopian" given his current form. Furthermore, he doesn't believe Gittens will be a "factor" as a starting eleven player in the final stretch of the season.
So far, the right-footer, who is clearly lacking self-confidence, has simply experienced a "second half of the season to forget." A sentiment that many in Dortmund likely share. Gittens's decline is real – and there's no improvement in sight for the time being.

Even United fans have said that Mainoo took a serious step back this season. And that’s when he was actually fit.
The last area of our squad where we even need to think of buying anyone is in the middle of the pitch. Caicedo, Enzo, Lavia, Santos, and Essugo. That’s already too many and I bet anything that Essugo will go on loan. And that’s not even counting KDH, Ugochukwu, and Amougu who’s futures need to be sorted.
Buying another midfielder would just be silly.
