  1. Mourinho names two teenagers in the team against Bolton and a further two on the bench. Three in the lineup and two on the bench vs Shrewsbury. Pellegrini on the other hand names NOT ONE under 21 player in his 18 tonight, the youngest player is 23 year old Boyata whos on the bench. Against Sheffield Wednesday in round 3, no youngster starting, 1 on the bench. Imagine if Mou went down that road, this place would crash.
  2. You mention Chalobah, he is struggling to get a look in at a dreadful Burnley team, if he can't break past some of the dross in that squad, how on earth can we justify including him in our squad next season? If players are good enough they get there, when Terry was young we accepted a bid from Huddersfield for him did he give up? no he carried on fighting, did he sulk and demand a move when we signed Gallas? no he kept on fighting. Youth players have to be extremely patient, show fight and be good enough of course. Despite our underwhelming record of getting youth in the first team we still attract the best home grown talent and young players from abroad keep putting pen on paper, they know what they are signing up for.
  3. Exactly that, our youth cup winning team of a few years back went to play to Wycombe seniors few months after and got trounced 5-1. If we played 6 or more of the team teenager's we would have lost, this was Shrewsburys biggest game for years,.it would have been a disaster. I thought we stroke the balance perfect like you said.
  4. There's an element of risk whatever you do. We press high and go for the second then Matic or Cesc lose it in the centre mid or worse do a Gerrard? goalscoring opportunity right there. Speaking of Gerrard, Brendan needed a draw against us and the title was in his hands with two games left, he decided to attack us and play high up, a decision that cost him the title. Sometimes sitting on a lead will work sometimes it won't, Arsenal were starting to build momentum at The Bridge, Jose brings on Mikel and that is that. Even yesterday it served it's purpose as United created next to nothing until the late free kick. If there was a "right way" to defend a one goal advantage every manager would use it and 99 percent of games would end 0-0 or 1-0. Go for a second or hold what you have? neither approach is bulletproof, both can and do backfire and when they do it usually ends with the manager criticised for not taking the other approach.
  5. Apparently the Milan president came into the dressing room at half time and demanded Fernandos introduction and is putting pressure on Inzaghi to play him more. Torres must have the best sales pitch in living history, never have I seen a player be so shit at his job but have so many people fawning over him.
  6. Because he hasn't done great with Napoli. When he was at Liverpool the general consensus was he underachieved in the league but seemed to get his team tactically sound in CL knockout games, which is why the scum had a consistent CL record during him, bar the last season.
  7. Just because he is brought doesn't mean he doesn't have the raw inconsistencys 99.9 percent of footballers his age have. When lower league sides host PL teams the games are almost always very close, playing half or more of the team teenager's is asking for elimination. Our youth cup winning side of few years back went to play Wycombes seniors the following pre season, they lost 5-1..............
  8. Villa are such a wierd team, they can look clueless for weeks then suddenly score from an amazing counter attack Real Madrid would have been proud of. I remember that first half at Anfield, honestly they could have been 4 up at half time. I think they need a change, the team have good potential but Lambert is happy to just merely get by.
  9. Benitez is in his element in one of knockout games, not only us he masterminded wins against Juve, Real, Arsenal, Inter. That's why I was gutted we got knocked out in group stage just after he took over, I think we could have had a genuine stab at retaining the CL with him. Hiddink outsmarted him at Anfield but Rafa came back fighting at The Bridge and nearly turned it round.
  10. Usually I would share this sentiment however I just can't see it this time. QPR are woeful, seriously woeful. Spurs who have been crap all season smashed these 4-0, West Ham saw them off without breaking sweat. Not to mention Mous record against Arry.It would take a performance out of the AVB book or some ridiculous bad luck to drop points here, they are really really bad. The only minor worry for me is Vargas, keep him in check and this should be a breeze.
  11. No one said a bad word against him, there were concerns about whether the return would have worked, which were valid.
  12. A cup tie away from home against a lower league side is always a banana skin.We had Ake, Zouma and Christensen on, this is Shrewsburys biggest game since probably we faced them last time, that slone makes it tricky, you only need to look at Arsenal at Valley Parade two years ago, or few years back Crewe took United to extra time then Southend did them the round after or even our own experiences at Brentford and Barnsley. Yes it would have been nice and romantic for us to play all the under 21s and won 4-0, but in reality if we played those 3 to go with the 3 teenagers already on, we could quite well have lost.
  13. Hr wasn't to bad, he was a lot better than Schurlle who stunk the place out. He is a squad player for a reason and he is a left footed right winger which we don't have elsewhere in the squad, he will be a useful squad player as the season goes on.
  14. I don't think our squads weak, it looks it in the COC games because we play most of the squad player's in one go. Most of the players tonight can fill in, but there's a reason there all squad player's.
  15. So his dribble against Arsenal to win a penalty when we weren't looking great and creating next to nothing until the point not game winning? His run to assist Schurlle against City should have been a game winner moment. And are you basing him not being great on not scoring THAT much? that isn't his type of game, he is a winger, Bergkamp had a poor scoring record as a striker but would you argue he is one of the best players of his generation?
  16. The main problem with the ref's in this country is Probert is the only one who's actually good. The others are dire.
  17. Signing him back would be a waste of resources. The AM we have got fit the system more and in terms of the creativity he offers we have already signed an upgrade. Nice guy but our money should be used on players that will improve this team and take us to the next level, not on sentiment.
  18. Jack Wilshere was openly cheering us on against Napoli in 2012, doesn't mean he has a soft spot for us in general. Furthermore what has he done to suggest he has a soft spot for United? Saying the best team lost when he beat them? he did the same for Wigan and Paul Jewell once. He was taking constant digs at them last summer to try and sign Rooney, he likes respects Fergie and LVG yes, but that doesn't translate to liking the club, I admired Henry but couldn't stand the shirt he wore.
  19. The fact Man United are so happy with the draw at home is hilarious. Only two circumstances can make me happy with a home draw and that's if it's the point we need to win the league (or takes us to a point were it's almost certain, for example the 0 0 vs Arsenal in 2005) or if it's the second leg of a CL tie were we won the away game. Even when we equalise late at home (Arsenal 2006, United 2008) im still pissed we drew.
  20. Without meaning to start a flame war, having to see the horrible sight of Lampard in a City shirt makes me appreciate Didier even more. Can't take to much on one match but maybe I was wrong, maybe he could better his first exit this time round?
  21. Ultimately if we were offered 7 wins and 2 draws both in Manchester, 6 points clear of City with also 3 off our hardest away games out of the way, we would have took. The circumstances of losing the wins in Manchester was a bitch, but ultimately we are in a great position to kick on, 6 points against QPR and a most likely Sturridgeless Liverpool are a must tho. In my opinion we must keep the gap on City at least 5, any less and thing's get tense.
  22. Give Ancelotti a team in a great condition and he is brilliant, as we found with the double, it's when the wheels start coming off he gets found wanting, in my opinion.
  23. That's the thing that annoys me, a lot of people say Jose isnt untouchable and should get critic when nessecery (fair enough I agree) but so many times people don't want to give Carlo any responsibility for that season. Ok circumstance wasn't in his favour but his decisions at times were laughable, that game vs Liverpool were Kenny Dalglish off all people bent him over tactically was painful. Naming lineups in press conference, surely such an experienced manager would know that gives the oppo an advantage, refusing to play a hungry on form Sturridge while Anelka was stinking Stamford Bridge out. We clawed some results bacl in March and April due to our defence still being solid which allowed for some beyond turgid grinds out, but in reality we were never back in the race, even if we won at OT we would have had to have won at Goodison by a higher score than United beat Blackpool at home, was possible mathematically but in reality we lost the league in the winter.
