I think Ivanovic will be on the team sheet since Zouma-Cahill will playing centreback.... Have we ever seen Azpi-Zouma partnership at the right side of our defence? Jose sees Zouma as perfect for covering Ivanovic's lack of speed.
-
Wow, that's an easy group right there. I hope Jose has learned his lesson from last year and will rotate the players more this time. We might win the group even if we had more than one "Academy Days" this year
-
So essentially we are paying 100 million euros for a player and then turn him into another Mikel...
-
Sounds about right. Suddenly from a depressing summer to an absolute beastly transfer window. IMO, better window than City have had even if they buy De Bruyne.
-
Matic injured/banned, Mikel and Ramires not good enough and a big game coming up. Who would you put in the pivot, Stones or Zouma?
-
Jose's surprise: Play Pogba in front together with Costa.
-
This transfer might end up being much more valuable than the money involved. I could imagine Hazard turn down interest from Real just because Chelsea has another superstar in Pogba. Sometimes I feel bad for Hazard because the team mates aren't always on his level so we definitely need more world class players.
-
He would be perfect for the squad!
-
With Perdro presumably becoming a starter at right side, does this mean that Azpilicueta has to be played as a right back because the lack of cover Pedro provides for defence? I know Pedro has a decent workrate in him but he surely ain't Willian who will probably move to a more central role. To me Pedro signing is a also clearly an indication that Jose is getting sick of Ivanovic.
-
How good is he? The price tag suggests he has Hazard, Neymar levels of talent in him.
-
Like Willian and Schurrle in one player. Exactly what our attack needs! If only the club had done the transfer earlier.... Just get the CM (not sure if Pogba would be the ideal player) and we are done. Get Stones and we are done for next five years with our squad + academy + few classy players we have loaned out.
-
two, Stones or Varane. and well third, maybe a new striker or a more attacking right back than Azpi?
-
Pedro as a signing is everything our attack needs right now, more movement and more goals. But even after this, we are still about 3 signings away from City's quality.
-
He saw John Terry benched at half time for the first time in like ever. He would see this as a perfect opportunity. Homegrown, talented and with a gigantic price tag, he might get more chances than we might even think of. If I was John Stones, I would be smiling right now and jump at this chance right away
-
I think this will happen. The board will wake up after this game for sure.
-
Needs to be benched. You cannot have players like this in a team like CFC not expecting any consequences for bad game. He needs competition and yet we don't have another creative CM at all! I wish we could steal that Kovasic deal from Real Madrid. But I definitely agree about the lack of movement in our play. It was beyond static today. Zidane would have looked like Cleverley today.

This just makes me think how well the team played last year and was able to mask it's biggest problem. The Defence. It is clearly the biggest weakness of this squad and yet all so called experts keep saying how fantastic our back four is. This would be entirely different team, especially offensively if we had the back four City has. The sooner we implement Baba, Stones (I'm sure this transfer will be completed before next game as a result of this game) and Zouma into the starting XI the better.
-
Costa Hazard Willian Cesc Ramires Matic The typical big game line-up from Jose. But yeah, Oscar is injured now, big surprise. When is it gonna be when we will play our best XI in a big game? I really would have liked to see Zouma start this one.
-
I don't understand why we would be getting rid of Ramires instead of Mikel. Zouma can do what Mikel does, Ramires is unique.
-
Sell Cuadrado and Ramires ( ), get Baba, Stones and Witsel. Kid like this with so much eagerness to prove his worth is much better option than unconfident Cuadrado with a big price tag as his burden. Especially if we are looking for a super sub.
-
Mourinho will rather pack his bags and move to manage Go Ahead Eagles than admit that he was wrong with this one. Shame. After all these years, I'm still not sure whether his character allows him to manage a dominant team. He loves the underdog and us vs. them status and can't seem to get rid of this fetish. If shit hits the fan and the love affair with CFC comes to an end (again), Mourinho would be the perfect manager for Borussia Dortmund. But yeah, let's not lose all hope right away. As stated before, he probably will end up producing a masterstroke on Sunday and then everything is suddenly forgotten.
-
I would really like to see him in our starting lineup this season! But thing is that, if Stones comes with an incredible price tag, that will automatically push Zouma down in our ranks. He would become the 4th centreback as well as player who will be thrown onto the pitch in the late minutes just like in Swansea game. I think that for his development, a year long loan to Everton would be much better idea. He is better than all Everton centrebacks and he would definitely be able to play as many games as possible there. Terry might retire at the end of the season so next season could be the battle between Stones, Cahill and Zouma for starting positions. And we also have Ivanovic as another option for CB in case Baba and Azpilicueta become the dominant fullbacks as many people seem to hope in here (although unlikely scenario).
-
If only youngsters were given same opportunities as this guy. I know he hasn't played that many minutes since his move 8 MONTHS ago but he still gets the chance now and then only due to his price tag. If only we'd given Musonda, RLC, Ake, or Baker at least equal chances to show their worth.
-
Begovic Ivanovic Cahill/Zouma Terry Azpilicueta Matic Oscar Moses/Remy Willian Hazard Costa Cesc has been shocking for quite a while and doesn't deserve a starting position in a big game and I wouldn't put Ivanovic in there if there was literally no other options at the moment. Willian can do what Ramires usually does and more, Oscar is a lot more useful at the moment than Cesc and Moses/Remy gives that extra bit of sharpness that Willian cannot provide in the attacking third. Up the Chels!
-
I wish Jose would give him a real chance in a proper game not just a ten minutes in training. He is ahead of all other youngsters and he would be great in a midfield trio with Matic and Oscar.
