Enzo did his better work this season as a false 10 so for his replacement I'm not thinking about proper CM's. Rogers,Yildiz types..which would replace his goal contributions whilst depending on formations Xabi wants to put out can contribute either on the left edge or inside in a double 10 or solitary 10 when Palmer is out. I'd be fine with the group of remaining CM's we have if as expected we have to be sensible with how much we spend,so we can fill more pressing needs .but whilst I like the players who people are suggesting I think if we sign yet another CM. We should look beyond thinking about who is the best possible available and look at a different profile to what we already have. We need a Matic type..someone that can help in air whilst being good on the floor.

Either of the Newcastle midfielders would be a great signing. They’re the only level of player this fanbase will accept if we sell Enzo. Going out and replacing him with some kid who may be good 3 years from now won’t cut it. They’ll have the supporters at their throats from day 1 of the Alonso era if they do that. As an aside, am I the only one who doesn’t see anything special at all with Matheus Fernandes? He just looks like a decent PL midfielder and nothing more watching his highlights. And I’ll say the same thing about that Ederson dude from Atalanta who United are apparently about to sign. If they get both Fernandes & Ederson as their shiny new toys I’d be delighted with that. Wouldn’t scare me at all.

He's not the top choice for any club I've read. Arsenal and PSG are interested in Mateus Fernandes. The Manchester clubs both have Anderson as the main midfield target. Liverpool is unclear but there are links to Wharton.

I think Tonali has been linked to a couple of the other big PL sides. He might be more difficult to get than the others you named.

and in a deal with City I'd be open to Nico O'Reilly coming the other way. It can't be Nico Gonzalez, Trafford, Marmoush, or anyone like that who can't get into the City XI The common sense thing to do is no deal with City but we know the owners don't care

We might have to play the market smartly and pick up someone like Tonali while everyone is trying to convince Anderson and Mateus Fernandes who are the most coveted mids in the league.

Our big problem is that all the midfielders that are of the quality we need to replace Enzo are also highly desired by our rivals who are all in the UCL and also don’t have super restrictive wage caps. If Enzo were to go to Madrid and they therefor allowed Tchouameni to go, would he even want to come here and if he did could we give him acceptable wages? With Xabi here now we could maybe get the first part sorted with convincing him but any player coming from Real Madrid will be on huge wages. Players like Tonali and Anderson are wanted by the Manchester clubs and Arse. Liverpool are reportedly after another super top rated midfielder too. Unless BlueCo accept that they’re going to have to break their wage restriction this summer we are going to end up downgrading on Enzo.

Just beware that a certain Fulham defender was also an "experienced" addition to the squad as he was a free transfer and ex-city boy....

In fairness at the start we were predicted 5th/6th by most pundits no one really had us down for top 4. We just proved them wrong! So glad this season is over. Just hope its a blip and not a case of finishing 4th that time was a blip instead

Robertson already agreed a deal with Spurs (if they survived relegation). Same with Bournemouth's CB - Senesi or whatever his name is. Even our neighbouring london side is trying to get in experienced players for next season.... Can't wait to see if Alonso actually has a say in some of the transfers as we need talent and experience in this lineup. If we're still reliant on Gusto/Garnacho/Delap/every other average player in our squad.....good luck trying to get back into top 4.

Forgot all about this game, engrossed in doing other things, it wasn’t until me mate rang to ask about the match I realised…still apparently I didn’t miss anything. No more than expected yet another defeat. And Special Juan called it right where we’d end the season…although i’m sure he’ll get no pleasure for getting it right.

Not sure if its been stated at all but if we see looking for a LB, regardless of Cucu going or whatever, Andy Robertson on a free for 1 or 2 seasons surely wouldn’t be a bad punt? Looked miles better everytime he played than that donkey Kerkez they signed to replace him from what I had seen. I’m assuming he will be too old for BlueCo though. Apparently has chosen his next move and they reckon he is London bound, Spurs were there in January so maybe them? But wouldn’t be opposed if we threw our hat in the ring. And as soon as Enzo Fernandez is out the door we should be ALL OVER Sandro Tonali. What a signing he would be.

If Enzo is dead set on leaving and I wouldn’t blame him for wanting to then we should try and get a player in exchange plus money. That would be a better deal in my opinion as these fucking tosspot Directors cannot be trusted with money. That being said, I’d take Tchouameni or Dean Huijsen all day long. Those two players would instantly elevate the squad. On the GKer front, I honestly don’t know why anyone is against Penders being given a shot at the No1 spot. He looks solid.

The worst thing is that even if they axe that stooge Eghbali, the club might not have the finances needed to correct this action. So now we have to hope that at least some of these youth acquisitions evolve into something better down the line, while making opportunistic experienced acquisitions on the cheap, like we did with Thiago Silva for example.

Selling one known player for two average ones, is the kind of shit that has burnt this club before. This isn't a silly numbers game. Either get a replacement of same or better quality, or GTFO with these asinine half-measures.
