Don't know what to expect in all honesty, as I have no clue what random line up Maresca will choose
-
Bayern is attacking team which suits us. So I expect us to score, maybe even a few. How we'll perform defensively is different question. I think Gusto will start, in fact maybe same lineup as final against PSG minus Colwill.
-
I remember only Brentford away also was heavy rotation last season? Exaggerating as usual. Palmer was never going to start after the injury and Estevao was not available. Delap as well which would put Pedro behind striker. So Buonanotte was logical choice. This is not rotation but circumstances. Only rotation was Hato and Fofana for Cucurella and James/Gusto. Made both changes at HT. We scored 2 goals which should be more than enough to win a game. First goal we conceded has nothing to do with Hato and Fofana but more our starting CBs anyway. Second was probably irregular goal with players you wanted to start. So conclusion is that small rotation has nothing to do with 2 lost points.

he wanted to rotate the line up after a IT because of phisical issues

Maresca.lost this game with his line up. What on earth was he thinking....he's got all the tools as a manager with regards to philosophy. But my god is he bad with his selections.... Not quite sure what he tries to achieve sometimes....

You don't upgrade GK and CB in the summer and now this will cost you important points .We predicted it what will happen when you not take top gk and cb even without Colwill who was vital last season .

Exactly this. Im still annoyed at the way Maresca prioritized PL and conference league games in the 2nd half last season. He always saved his best lineups for conference league fodder. And while he rescued top 4 at the end, it was his fault (and Jackson's sending off) that we fell into a scrap with other teams for securing CL.
-
And while I agree Gittens needs more time, its a shame the club paid so much on a player that is clearly still a project. When we have FFP constraints and other positions that desperately need strengthening. It's less about Gittens the man, and more about how the club decides to prioritize things. Seems like a very scatterbrained approach. Just like their inability to secure a permanent shirt sponsor.
-
Agreed, but I think he needs to be taken off the firing line for a bit and made to come on as a sub, or at the most start games against weaker opponents, like the upcoming league cup game next week.
-
Exactly. No Europe this season..and no more clumsy GK to take advantage of.
-
Not just that. They have whole week to prepare, whilst we play Bayern in week.
-
Hope this guy doesn't read into social media that much. He did very well from an attacking perspective, but there are plenty of people upset because he lost his man during the Brentford throw in that led to goal
-
I'm worried about the United fixture because of this. They've lost badly against City. Now we play them at Old Trafford. They'll be toughening up to make it difficult, just like they did against Arsenal who barely sneaked a win. With our inconsistent CBs and Maresca rotating players, there are so many variables here.
-
this is why almost every away game now its tough even small/middle teams are good and with a lot of money
-
Things have changed since City won. The pressure of winning points is spread out over more games now in UCL and that’s where we can afford to rotate The lower teams in PL have spent a ridiculous amount of money (even compared to seasoned CL teams like Atleti or Barca or Inter). We are looking at a very different schedule and difficulty levels between league, Europe compared to even 2-3 years ago You don’t see Liverpool or Arsenal - the two best teams in the league right now - rotating a lot in their league games, even against lowly opposition
-
I dont understood why maresca dont played gusto in first half at least
-
Forget Bayern if we don't beat United who are looking like proper shit, the fanbase will turn fast again on Maresca.
-
Fofana is shite, walks back in the team after being out for 2000 years We had our chance to buy in the summer and like a striker and keeper we fucked it up I have no sympathy with these amateur board people
-
Because the defense was so bad we shouldn't rely on VAR saving us every game. Just saw that first Brentford goal, incredible sunday league defense. Also we have 3 RBs and you start fucking Fofana.
-
Because if we speak we are in trouble They have to even up the Fulham disallowed goal remember
