The guy wasn't joining any team immediately. That probably played a part in it. You can't expect every transfer to go smoothly or work out. It isn't a common theme at all. We got JP ahead of Newcastle. We certainly paid more than 30/40 mil as well. We've spent on some players that haven't panned out as well. We were going to spend 60+ though we didn't win out. It happens. Sarr looks like a great prospect and current gem - we still come out good.

Just nothing short of pathetic

🚫💥Chelsea have rejected an offer from Crystal Palace to sign Josh Acheampong on loan; and have no desire to let the defender go. (Guardian)
-
There was also briefings that the players wants to go to Chelsea and only Chelsea. There are also stories that on Thursday when we decided to trigger bringing back Sarr is the point we pulled out of the race for JJ, so the long and short of it we once again scratched and sniffed and did a bit of foreplay but in the end it was pointless. We are seeing a theme now with transfers, falling short, won't meet even the smallest of demands, low balling and missing out on targets.

Unless someone is an Estevão or Quenda level super talent we need to stop fucking signing these teenagers, ffs. Imagine what a smart club could do with all the tens of millions we’ve flushed down the toilet on the likes of Deivid Washington or that random kid from Villa who I’m not even sure still exists. This rumor about the kid from Nantes better be bullshit. Absolute fucking joke to go out and spend 30m+ on an 18 year old CB after we’ve just briefed that we’re happy with all these young CB we already have.

There is articles from today saying we offered nearly double the amounts you just mentioned - and a player went with another choice. These owners spend tonnes in baseball, and have shown they will do the same here.

Just more regurgitated shite

💥🗯Chelsea FC have amped up their efforts to sign Nantes centre-back Tylel Tati (18) on deadline day, according to L’Equipe. The Blues have reportedly sent a verbal €30m bid to Nantes in order to secure their promising yet raw and error-strewn 18-year-old defender. With Jérémy Jacquet (20) now heading out to Premier League rivals Liverpool to complete his medical, Chelsea are scrambling to secure Tati’s signing.

Ha ha these media briefs are funny as fuck, now we are hearing we did not want to block the development of Josh hence why we pulled away from Jacket Potato. Let's be clear, we have blocked his development for months by sitting him on the bench and playing the likes of Badshit and Tosin ahead of him so that poo poo's that right out the fucking window Once again we have gone to our sister company, raped them of players to save money, this my people is the new CFC way of operating and it won't change anytime soon. We will never again pay big money for players, it will be the 30/40M premiums or loans from Strasbourg. Absolute fucking joke

Oh ffs!!!! Dont tell me we have ANOTHER glassman! Emmanuel Emegha has suffered an injury setback and could miss the next six weeks according to reports in France. https://Chelsea.news/2026/02/emmanuel-emegha-Chelsea-strasbourg-update/ Chelsea agreed a deal with Strasborug to sign Emegha last year, and the Dutch international has penned a seven year deal at Stamford Bridge. Emegha will join up with Chelsea at the end of the season, and is expected to go straight into the squad and compete for minutes with Liam Delap and Joao Pedro. The Emegha transfer reportedly caused issues according to Strasbourg president Marc Keller, and the fans weren’t happy with the striker. Emegha scored 14 goals in Ligue 1 last season, and has seven goals in 11 appearances in all competitions this season. The 22-year-old hasn’t played since picking up a muscle injury in December, and it’s thought he was close to a return. However, L’Equipe have reported Emegha has suffered a setback and is likely to miss the next six weeks in a big blow to him and Strasbourg. The Dutchman is the club captain, and a really important player for Strasbourg, but it’s important he takes his time before returning to minimise the chance of ay further setbacks. Emegha has also had off field issues and was suspended for comments he made about Strasbourg in an interview, and Chelsea will hope his discipline improves before he arrives.

I’m genuinely excited to see Sarr come back. Thought we made a mistake letting him go on loan at the start of the season. There is something about him that makes me feel he would be safer than the likes of Tosin, Badi & Disasi.
-
Sarr, Anselmino, Acheampong, Hato all world class potential. Absolutely there's no point bringing another player like that.
-
Palmer on bench for me if Estevao is presumably back. Has not been himself and I am not sure if this is the game where he can influence directly from the start. We will need a lot of support defensively and type of game he has struggled to impact before. Sanchez James Fofana Chalobah Cucurella Santos Caicedo Estevao Enzo Neto Pedro
-
What is this based on? These are the team’s results in the league when Acheampong has started this year. Just the one loss in there. Don’t think he’s looked out of place physically at all 0-0 D vs Palace 2-1 W vs Liverpool 0-3 W Forest 1-2 L Sunderland 2-2 D Bournemouth 1-1 D Man City

It is a transfer discussion thread talking about how we are competitive in the market and we regularly beat out BIG teams to quality names. I don't have to be explicit to that point. There is a level of common sense I feel is applied.
-
His ability and comfort on the ball + his athleticism are still far, FAR better than Tosin or Badiashile. I understand that Trev and Fofana are ahead of him. But there’s no reason the first two should be. Any time Fofana is rotated out to manage his knees it should be Josh starting in his place.
-
I am not that bothered about Jacquet. I am, however, enraged we did not grab a solid left-footed CB, as that is a far bigger need, especially with the recall of the right-footed Sarr now. Badi is SHIT! He and whatever LCB stopgap we use have and will costs us vital points. We have no other healthy lefty CB, as Colwill is out still for months. We should have nailed down Senesi (vet, the smartest move IMHO) or Karim Coulibaly (youth).
