I am not really hearing or reading anything concrete so I doubt we get such abreakthrough overnight in a potential 80m deal

Bayer will never sell him for only €80m, that is only £72m

pre covid the were talking €120m (£108m)

pre covid Dortmund wanted €140m for Sancho (£127m), and they said nope to anything under €115m or so (£104m) which is around a 18% (little less) drop

Bayer will drop the price on Havertz, but not by €40m, which is a 33% drop, or almost double the % of Sancho's drop (so far) in terms of discount

40m euros is shitload to a medium sized club like Bayer, and they are under little to no true pressure to sell him as he has not put in a transfer request

I haven't seen any monetary figures for Chilwell but I did read somewhere it would be a world record for a left back. Out of curiosity what is the current world record?

If this is correct, I'd imagine the club will be pretty happy with this. Considering all the rumours were Leicester demanding £80m (and have held firm in the past on their valuations for the likes of Drinkwater, Mahrez and Maguire) to knock that down to around £50m initial is pretty good going.

The additional clauses have never really bothered me to be honest because most of them will usually relate to either or a combination of the team and player doing well.

Ummm. The fact that it would eat away at our budget, budget which could have been spent on a CB and a Gk and even DM.

In we are getting a CB and GK then it will already be in the budget wont it..... clubs don't do a deal at a time then check the change!

It does not make sense according to me.

Barca and Real blew up - they are close to bankruptcy - because over the last few years they have spent huge amount of money on players that turned out to be bang average with very long contracts and huge package. Some players that even do not play for them; Real; Bales on 550k a week, James Rodriguez, etc.; Barca with Umtidi, Dembélé, etc. 

Bayern is very much well managed instead. They will never spend 80£+ or 100m Euros on a single player. No surprise they do not need to sign Havertz for the price tag fixed by Dortmund. They destroyed Barca without Harvertz. And Leipzig is doing very well without Werner, qualified for CL semi-finals, no need to spend crazy.

80m £ for a player with little experience might lead us to the same issues as faced by Real and Barca. Non-sense.

According to Nizaar Kinsella, it is not done yet. Havertz and Chilwell are the main targets for this transfer window

Then why were we looking at chilwell alternatives? If that was the case, would not we just pay up and be done with it?

Is not the fact that chilwell seemed to be out of out budget the only thing stopping us from making the transfer happen?

65m? Not for me. Regulion better player and 30m cheaper. What the fuck. Leicester will probably go and buy him afterwards and he will do what that young Turkish bloke did for them when they used him after selling Maguire. 100%. But if Frank wants him, fair does, good player potential to be a mainstay for 10+ years but never ever gonna be a 65m full back. Only a few who I would say is worth that cash off the top of my head: Hakimi, Mendy (Real Madrid one), Alex Sandro, Robertson, Alexander-Arnold, potentially Renan Lodi but not 100% convinced. Be others too but Chillwell isnt one of them for me, as I said Regulion be a cheaper and better option IMO.
