JT slept with a mans ex. Not quite the same as getting drunk and driving is it? Especially when this sort of thing is beat into your head from the moment you get a license. It was "Bad" it was a crime, and he'd be in jail if he wasn't a rich footballer.

He comes up with goals, but defensively he is slightly better than a Zappacosta, who also isnt good enough if we are being honest.

Rich anything rather - being a footballer has little to do with it. He wasn't that famous either.

I'm mostly against current DUI laws, because what precisely is being criminalized by DUI laws? The wrong substance in your blood while driving? (others are allowed) This is a long discussion, but even the statistics used to promote DUI laws have all causality incorrectly assessed. One thing I can guarantee is that law enforcement (as well as lawyers) all over the world, is really concerned about driverless cars. :) Uber already ate into DUI by a lot, driverless cars will just put an end to it.

With that long caveat out of the way, in the case of Alonso, the DUI law makes perfect sense because he committed a crime. His alcohol impairment (many diff things can impair human beings enough to disrupt driving) contributed to causing a fatal accident, hence the criminalization makes sense. Of course being rich always makes you appear less "impaired" to society....

Now back to football :) I think TC fans have the team they deserve: a key player who does not score a lot. A striker who does not score much and an overall squad with few goal scorers.

After all, the one player who keeps on scoring important goals for us is constantly criticized for having the same characteristics he always had before we signed him. And after all he just scores lots of important goals, which in football is not that important.... being a low scoring game, what's a goal anyway? ;)

What are you even talking about? Alonso is a very good footballer, he was amazing for us last year and continues to provide the goods this term, even, if rightly so, he is a little bit burned out. The man is working his socks off every single game for the last year and can't even get the sheer acknowledgment for that from our fans.

I have no idea what are your expactations from a left wing back but all in all I can assure you there are not many better than this guy. I am really not sure if your beloved Alex Sandro is better than him this season. Anyway, you don't need a world class player in every position and I think our LWB position is the least of our problems.

Alonso needs rest and needs competition, but he is a good player and gets no recognition for his great service at this club, and really I'm quite tired of seeing people bashing him after every game (like really, what wrong did he do yesterday? he was slow?). Some of you here even try to take the credit off his goals because he is a wing back (?!)... Somehow only Chelsea fans see all these wrongs...

Nobody has ever downplayed his commitment, just his ability to be a LWB. The basic requisites for a LWB for me are Good crossing, speed, Defensive ability, tracking back etc. Alonso isn't too good in Defensive positions, and neither has the speed or agility to be a wing back, the goals and his attacking vision are a great thing to have obviously, but this really shouldn't mask his other inabilities. Of course you don't need to have a World class player in every position, but you do need someone who'll atleast fit into the position, and his abilities qualify him more as a poacher rather than a wing back.

Yeah...and he'll turn Alonso into the Ivanovic of Man United.

Not sure what he has to do to get some credit. People talking about letting us sell him to United but he was very solid v Leicester. Called up for Spain too. No mean feat considering the options they could call up. Throw in the fact he has 6 PL goals this season too.

People will never get over the fact that he isn't the typical wingback you would grow in a lab if you could. Alonso's unorthodox and so are his defensive mistakes for a LWB but he makes up for it in areas in which other wingbacks/fullbacks constantly fail; for example, his lack of pace will cause him troubles that your standard LWB doesn't have but on the other hand Alonso has great concentration and anticipation and almost always shows those qualities in 1-vs-1 situations where most wingbacks and fullbacks would overcommit early and have to rely on their recovery as the majority of classic wingbacks and fullbacks does.

He was part of the problem for their goal, and it seems we have another member of the 'he's solid' committee. What does 'solid' even mean. Basically average, lacking true quality but he worked hard. Bare minimum. Called up for Spain  after months of his only competition being Nacho Monreal. He boosts his stats with free kicks - take away his set pieces and his goals and assists are same as Moses. In the league so far he only has one assist which is pathetic.

Sure he was maybe a reason why they scored but again like with Cahill or Ivanovic or whoever else in recent time hes gotten a lot of pish for things that is truly nothing to do with him directly. Which shows exactly the mentality of the some of the fans of this club.

Monreal fair enough but what about Jose Gaya? Alberto Moreno, who suits Spains style to the ground and played u21s with the Spain manager? Alonso deserved a call up for last season in my eyes and now hes finally gotten recognition on a wider scale but now its not oh hes done well its, oh he only had Monreal for competition....

He boosts his stats with free kicks? So what? 6 PL goals with a lot coming from set plays is good for a LWB, considering he got a vital winner vs Spurs, Southampton as well as add the goals he managed last year, we'd be a fair few points off where we are now if it weren't for some of his goals. Obviously he wont grab many headlines being a LWB but him along with Christensen (who has had a rough patch recently), has been one of our more consistent players this season (defenders being more consistent players suppose that means the seasons a failure). 12 PL goals in 1 and a half seasons from LWB is a good return, regardless of how good or bad you think he is.

Hes solid because he shows up does a decent enough job every week. How many of our players can stake a claim to that this season? Not very many.  Why do we seem to slag off every player we have who are doing a reasonable job, is it his fault hes probably our best LWB? No. It is the boards for not signing Alex Sandro or not signing Luke Shaw about 4 years ago or whoever/whatever. Ridiculous. His assists could improve but again Morata and Giroud have had good chances on a plate from Alonso and not scored. Not saying hes the best crosser but that game vs United for instance where Alonso put a peach on a plate for Morata and he hit the bar comes to mind. Its not like Alonso is an absolute train wreck like Bakayoko. Did he boost his stats last year with free kicks too? Or was he genuinely just really good last year because I would like to know? Because I think last year we all wanted an elite LB and maybe still do. Fair enough hes not exactly the best LB out there but in terms of what he cost and the availability of others, not the worst option. Yet its typical for fans of this club to slag off players who are at least showing up 75% of the time and doing reasonably okay, especially in a tough season and a tough patch.... no wonder everyone thinks we are a joke. Fair enough goals do happen and sometimes you can point the finger at an individual but we have bigger problems than our LWB who has been doing alright this season, like our attacking players except Willian seeming to have vanished and our 40m MF signing being an absolute waste of a footballer. Also throw in uncertainty over Conte's future, finishing top 4, winning a trophy etc....

But anyway once again lets all be morons and start slagging all our players off,.

I think most of us know that Alonso is a good playert but in Conte 343 system, we need the wb to be better than good especially since Conte prefer  to play 2 destroyer in midfield.   Our wb will be the player that have the most amount of space so they have to be a threat every time if not, the other team will just give up the wide area.
