Romelu Lukaku

Well who is questioning Jose's decision now?

The guy had (maybe still has - still only 21) the chance to become a fantastic player, but he's got his head up his arse and is believing his own hype. It will end badly for him. It's a crying shame. Somebody in his life - needs to sit him down and give him a great fucking dose of reality, all the yes men/girls and hangers on are going to ruin this guy, and when he's skint and has fuck all, they will move onto the next person.

Very sad for him - I hope somebody close to him has the balls to make him realise...

Wolfsburg wants to pay €40M for him, the amount that Everton asks for him :D.

If he shuts his mouth and works hard, he is worth the amount. Because in a scoring team like Wolfsburg he can reach 30 BL goals every season. But I guess they don't see games and don't read interviews of Lukaku :D. Dost is way ahead of him atm.

For the sake of his own career, he really, really needs to just stop talking. He's still very young, but that excuse will wither away very quickly, however.

Really goes to show how invaluable emotional maturity is in this industry.

...and not sure why he feels the need to speak down, even implicitly, about Everton. Always thought they were an excellent club.

The best club in Liverpool city anyway.

If Lukaku is genuinely keen to “arrive at a top club” again, there are several steps he could take to achieve such an aim.

One: Learn how to hold the ball up more effectively. Lukaku looks every inch a £28m footballer when he is running with pace and strength onto through balls, but with his back to goal his first touch is usually so sloppy his second is often a tackle.

Two: Use his obvious physical assets to dominate in the air more consistently. When Lukaku scored a wonderfully brave header on his Everton debut at West Ham Blues fans celebrated the arrival of a dashing centre-forward in the true Everton tradition. Since then he has scored just two more headers, none this season.

Three: Replicate the movement and work-rate which characterised his thrilling first three or four months as an Everton footballer.

And finally, offer an apology to the fans who have whole-heartedly supported him, but who felt let down by his ill-advised comments on Wednesday night.

We won’t hold our breath ...

from the Liverpool echo.

Where are those that where vehemtly arguing that he was misunderstood/misquoted and that he didn't say all those things over the summer?

I still don't understand why people were defending him. He's got an awful mouth on him. So glad we got shot of him.

Another example of how big decisions should be left to the manager. If it was up to us, Lukaku would be our "star" striker.

Exclude me from that particular us please. :)

I was saying within the first 20 minutes of Lukaku's Chelsea debut that he would never be first choice here because his touch simply was not good enough and that it would never improve. I was called foolish for offering that opinion. Well, I certainly am a fool, but probably not on that subject.

Tools are there, talent is there, attitude and mentality are not there. Seems to be a case of another pampered young star.

Well some tools are there and some talent also, but a large slice of what it takes to make you first choice at a top club is missing. Permanently so. Inadequate tools might be honed but you either have talent or you don't. If you're Joey Barton, you are never going to be Lionel Messi; and if you're Romelu Lukaku, you are never going to be Marco Van Baston.

Skipper, you speak Dutch. Feel free to read the article: http://www.nieuwsblad.be/sportwereld/cnt/dmf20150212_01525362

Now tell me if you think he said something wrong?

For the English speakers:

How did it feel to play at the bridge again, where you were sent away, but also the club where the manager (Jose) did praise you as player last week?

"It was amazing, a real great club! I was welcomed really nicely by both players and fans. They know that eventually I'm a good player. But I still want to grow as a player to then, one day, play for one of these big clubs again."

You haven't really closed the chapter it seems? Are you secretly hoping to one day get a spot in the starting line up here again?

"No, there are other clubs on earth. You always have to keep all options open, that's true. But I just want to grow and develop as a player and eventually get back to one of the world's top clubs."

Imo he has indeed being 'used' be the media (once again!!) to pull his words out of proportion!

He's not saying he wants to leave Everton this summer, nor is he saying they're a rubbish club!

He just shows ambitious (like he always does) and says eventually he wants to get back to on of the top clubs in the world.

I'm very sorry but who on this forum is thinking of Everton as one of the TOP Clubs on this planet? Feel free to raise hands!

Lukaku was clearly talking about the likes of Chelsea, Man U, Man City, Liverpool, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus, AC Milan, Internationale, etc...

But sure... It's more fun to slash down the boy with 'the big mouth' who failed to prove himself here at the club! Stupid Lukaku with your big mouth... you should be happy that there are even clubs in the EPL that are willing to pay you to play some football!! We don't care you scored 39 goals in 91 games and 2,5 seasons in the EPL, nor do we care about the fact your 21(!!!!) years old. We were bashing from day one... and we will continue bashing you until you shut up and leave the EPL!

The lad just believed his own hype, another one to the talent grave, be shocked if he manages to shake that attitude as once/if he starts to bang in a few goals it'll just creep back in.

Sad times, such high hopes after I saw him visiting Stamford Bridge saying its a dream, one day he will play here etc.

It's shocking to see he still thinks he's the big man and that everybody needs to listen to him, while he shows nothing on the field this season. I don't know if it's a good idea to select him for the national team, in his world he still is the only striker that deserves to play.

The thing is he hasn't learnt the basics, his movement, close control and hold up play is shockingly poor, look at the size of the lad and yet he cant win a ball in the air to safe his life. I know Benteke has been poor this season but even he can hold up the play and use his height/physique to his advantage.

Lukaku also has pace yet he hardly ever plays on the shoulder of the defence, instead he constantly drops deep in search of the ball.

We all saw at the WC how much he struggled against teams who drop deep, when he's not giving space he simply turns into a second rate poacher.

This is the reason why he HAD to leave as rapidly as possible. He runs his mouth more than he scores goals. Toxic player to the squad. Balotelli 2.0 in the making.

It's not even his poor media skills that's worrisome but his delusion of grandeur, arrogance and false sense of entitlement. I wonder how everton fans are feeling right now with regards to his comment.

Because he just recently joined a new club for 30 million, how would you feel as an Everton fan when your underperforming record signing is saying he wants to join a top-club in the future?

As opposed to the scrub team that is Everton? He needs to shut the fuck up and show Everton fans why they bought him for such a large amount of money.

They baited him.

and he bit. After years of him giving interviews he should be prepared for those question. But he has never been very diplomatic. At least it is entertaining that he often utters what he thinks with him always being so cocky.

But when his ambition has always been to play for a top club, he rather might have stayed here and learned from the best, instead of playing at a place where he has no pressure to improve. tbh I'd have left CFC, too. We were never going to give him a chance and he is showing why. At this rate it will take years until he has worked out ho tot use his strengths correctly.

He remains a good player and Bundesliga would suit him. Most players there are half his size and slow as fuck. He would tear apart all those shitty sides.
