There was no catching them even if they lost. I don't see how we get a win in the remaining games except vs Tottenham

Even that isnt a given with this lot....we will end up with more losses then wins come end of the season. Mean only gotta lose 2 more and its level

Tbf i expected top 4th to be our aim..and our end goal.

Just funny how one stage we were in title talks! The ooo maybe we can finish 3rd 🤣 to maybe ooo has to be 4th..to now actually its gana be 6th or less!

We're out the champions league spots thats definitive we arent getting those! Those are more or less decided

I legit thought and even expected us to comfortably finish within the top 4 and make a significant improvement upon last season. That instead of it coming down to the final match or two to decide everything we’d be sitting pretty and watching the others struggle.

Never in my wildest nightmares did I think after we smoked PSG in the summer that we would have maybe our worst ever PL season and potentially finish midtable.

On paper even now our squad as a whole is significantly better and more talented that either Villa’s or United’s. Really shows how awful we’ve been.

But look at it this way..they really dont.

There is no way we would catch either team up even if they did drop points today. To do that we have to win at least 2/3 games..soooo they have no effect what so ever.

What matters is Everton are a point behind and not level with us. Same with Sunderland! Theyre now 2 behind us..

So its good they lost. There is no point looking up need to look down and its not pretty few teams are close to us or level

I wasnt convinced about the PSG game tbh so this doesnt surprise me..didnt expect to be 6th however 10 behind Man U but thought we'd be in another top 4 fight and we're not even in that!

Only “positive” thing is that now we don’t have to have even the slightest shred of “will we, won’t we” and have that anxiety the rest of the way. Champions league is 100% gone and there’s no point even thinking about it.

I would experiment the rest of the way and make damned sure we don’t get fucking Conference League again. Give Aceampong starts the rest of the way, give Levi some starts so he can get his legs back under him, let Lavia and Santos play a bunch more so we can decide if they’re worth keeping etc.

No point treating every match like it’s life or death anymore from a stakes standpoint.

Just as a reminder, we were linked with Cherki repeatedly for like 2-3 straight years and could surely have signed him quite easily. Even this past summer when City essentially got him for a steal of a price with virtually no competition. Now he has had a Cole Palmer level season when he first joined us and become a £100m player.

When you think about it, he would’ve the prototype BlueCo signing so it’s shocking we never went through with it. Super young, super talented, cheap transfer fee, reasonable wages, and an “appreciating asset” as they like to say.

Instead we get stuck with Gittens and because someone at our club was obsessed with him, Garnacho, for significantly more money.
