this was written before the game tonight

Written off by many, Callum Hudson-Odoi could be bargain of the year

Odoi is twice the player Mudryk is at this time. I'm talking even when Odoi was ineffective, which indeed happened often after his injury.

I'm talking about the basics of movement, one-twos, tracking back, etc. Odoi is just a far more ready player in my book. 🤷‍♂️

When are y'all gonna keep realising it isn't the players, but the tactics and culture?

"How do these players suddenly become shit when they come to us?"

We aren't putting them in positions to score. Simple.

Haaland would be on a third of the goals he is on now if he was here. You wouldn't even know how good he actually is with the way we setup.

Ukraine league is just too weak to be used as reference, esp compared to the PL.
Where you play, who you play against, and who you play with means *everything*.

We are not cursed 😆 the demands of playing for a top club can be vastly different from playing for a smaller club: not only the pressure, but also strategies. Smaller teams do play differently with much different team setups.

It's quite common for players to not pan out at a bigger club who need to drop a level.

Come on... we play the PL with a U23 Olympic team with a bunch of nobodies ok "bets", but it's always the manager. 😅 replace Poch and it's going to be the same shit.
Start with the manager dance and we will find out how much lower can the club go.

Sometimes thing don't click straight away.

With Conte we lost and drew a bunch before we got going. I'm hoping that is the case here, and some time to grow into the players they can be.

Conte and Poch different in terms of coaching style and demeanour though. Plus Conte had already coached 343 in pre-season (why he didn’t roll with it from day 1 I don’t know) and it took everyone by shock - so it’s not really the same because Poch has played 343/352 and 4231 already and still nothing looks quite comfortable.

Plus that squad was much much better, so many more competent top top players so that was always going to help, regardless. We don’t have that quality or even the knowhow on how to win games playing poorly due to lacking these sort of players (the likes of Costa, Hazard, Pedro, Kante, Cesc etc).

It’s going to be a long season again.

Can blame the players but for me the tactics are equally poor and aren't getting any better. Predictable attacking play that's piss easy to defend against.

I think some of the patterns may take time but I know a lack of proven quality in attack outside of Sterling and Nkunku is going to be an issue throughout the whole season.

Don’t know what to expect from half of the other guys week in week out.

You can be the best drilled team in the world but without genuine quality, you will struggle to make the difference.
