Pizy 18,987
Think about the effect a transfer request would have. It's Moyes' first season with the club which is going to be difficult enough. Imagine what it'll be like if they reject Rooney's transfer request and has every fan booing like crazy and destroying Rooney at every game. He'll be bombarded by Rooney questions at all times and it'll be a MASSIVE distraction for the entire year.If something goes wrong you'll hear "why didn't Rooney play up top?" or "why was Rooney on the bench?"If we bid 30m and he hands in a transfer request I think they'll sell. If not, fuck 'em. Let them keep an unsettled player and we can buy Suarez.

Liverpool think of Arsenal as a direct competitor for that coveted 4th spot. They know we're a class above them so I'd think they be much easier to work with than United.I'm sure we could do business with them. Maybe something like 35m + Ba since they're gonna need a striker. Ba could thrive there with the play from the wings they have.

Waterfall 893
The best thing about the transfer request is that even if United still don't budge, they've got themselves a publicly upset player.

ChelseaFanUK 1,014
We knew they wouldnt accept an extra £2m on our original offer. £23m to £25m wont do the trick, even with add-ons. Because if you are unaware the selling club aren't guaranteed to receive the add-ons as they're dependant on certain criteria being met. So in essence the bid is only £25m. Soon as/if a transfer request goes in, Utd could still reject it, (but it depends how hard Rooney himself pushes and makes a case to move) but soon as it is handed in I'd expect a big bid to go in like £30-35m without add ons.It is now time for Rooney to make his point heard. Fernando 6,592
Chelsea should not go above 30 million. Does not make economical sense to pay 40 million, when we can just wait till next season and they will be forced to sell!

The only place to be 11,313
Why would a transfer request all of a sudden make Manure sell him to us? LOLGenerally speaking players forgo loyalty bonuses when they hand in a transfer request. In my opinion the Glazers would never sell him without the formal transfer request, and Rooney's camp would always be loathe to make one if they don't have to. In my opinion the Glazers would never sell him without the formal transfer request, and Rooney's camp would always be loathe to make one if they don't have to.This time the bonus is a lot as well, around £3m straight cash. I believe if we are to wait for a year then Rooney shouldn't be considered as a primary target then. Its either now or never.Agreed, by then Lewandowski is a free agent and if we offer him like £250k per week he might be able to be persuaded to join. Who knows if he still want to move to Bayern next year, actually since he is worth around £40m anyway and if we are getting him on a free, we could just offer him like £5-£10m as signing on bonus and still have a bargain on our hand providing he keeps his form up. Who knows, other top strikers might be available as well, Ibra might want to leave after failing to win over Cavani/Falcao might move if Monaco fail to comply with FFP...etcAnd all sort of other possibilities, this is like Modric back then. If we don't sign Rooney now we will probably never do it again.

Tricky 301
He probably wouldnt be benched tho. Its a world cup year and Roo is gonna need to play so I'm fairly certain they could use him without fearI know, was just replying too someone's comments. He would start and play with RVP, but probably deeper as a second striker. He would probably score fewer goals then outcome the "I told you so" and "is declining / all washed up!!!" comments. Much like last year when he played out of position / second fiddle.
Rmpr 8,977
Not many players who hand in a request remain at a club for very long. I might be wrong, but rejecting said request, then benching him could probably be taken to arbitration, certainly grounds for constructive dissmisal. There is absolutely no legal obligation by a club to attend a supposed transfer request. Not many people stay at their clubs after they handle a transfer request, but just as many arent allowed to join a direct rival. There are two emphatic recent examples. RVP with Arsenal and Lewandowski with BvB. What do you think Manure will prefer to do? (especially after what happened last season, when van Persie basically gave them the title)These are ppl remember they have rights, you can't let them rot in the reserves. As far as benching Rooney, of course they can do it, as long as there isnt anything on his contract that stops it from happening (which I doubt Ferguson would have agreed on). This argument of him being a human being and he cant root in reserves is complete bullshit. Leaving a player on the bench or in the reserves team doesnt infringe in any labor law nor human rights. Just look at Malouda and many other examples! As for forcing a move to Real or Barca, they have yet to show any interest and would have done so by now given how long this has rumbled on for.We dont know if any other team will show interest in Rooney, but Manure will try to sell him (if they do) to anyone besides an English team.People say they need to sell him due to high wages (etc), but they really dont. United operated in decent profit for the last 2.5 fiscal years, they dont need to cut losses nor make money. If they do indeed sell him to us, it will be because they 'wanted' (or at least allowed).
