HNKS 508
Lukaku scored a hat trick against United. And he didn't even play in the first half of that match. And tell me, will United play the same way they did that day against West Brom against us? No they wont. He wont get the time and space. Plus they had already won the league. Lukaku isnt good enough, Jose will realise this I just hope it aint too late.
John1611 77
And tell me, will United play the same way they did that day against West Brom against us? No they wont. He wont get the time and space. Plus they had already won the league. Lukaku isnt good enough, Jose will realise this I just hope it aint too late. You could perhaps make that case for his second goal. He still put it in the back of the net though. My point remains. He has shown he can score against the big teams. United have also had already won the league trophy when we played them at OT, yet it took us 86 minutes to find the back of the net, and it came from midfield through a deflection. Scoring a hat-trick against United is exceptional, regardless of whether they play offensively or not. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rKOdVAKTv8
The Rising Sun 724
If we get Rooney, all of a sudden its not going to be like teams will start playing us like they " play west brom"It will be the same way they approach us, whether it is rooney or Lukaku.Dont think that argument is a winner.Rooney has a good record no doubt, having a great season, then following it up with a below par season. This has happened over the past 5 seasons or so.Both players provide something different. However, at this moment in time, i dont think we need yet another player who likes coming into the midfield and getting involved in build up play.Rooney has become that sort of player of the last few seasons and is no more a true striker.Lukaku on the other hand has height strength pace, and is a true out and out striker.I think we need more of the characteristics that Lukaku provides rather than get another player whos game is not that of an out and out striker. We need out striker to be in the box in every attack, and not be roaming Linking up play and all that. Yes, linking up play is important but not from midfield and dropping back and all that.We have bought sooooo many players to do that. The reason Falcao Cavani etc were bang on our targets was because they were strikers, poachers and played in a very advanced position. If Rooney can do that, maybe! Its been a long time and his game has evolved, not the same striker that he was initially. Sheva. 5,373
Negredo - he's mediocre for those levels. I dont think he's better than Ba or Lukaku, maybe even Torres.Jovetic- Jovetic isnt a real striker.Falcao, Gomez - not the type of strikers as Rooney- what Jose wants. And Falcao cost 60m.Soldado, Higuain, Bony - thats not a big upgrade imo. And like Gomez and Falcao they cant bring what Rooney can.Cavani - we were interested i think, but he cost 63m.And btw, if we want Rooney and we're working on him, you think we could make other deals to not happen in the same time? i mean other teams wanted those strikers, but we didnt want them like Rooney, so what did you thought will happen? they cant stay available becuase we want them to... and you cant buy a player and then regret it becuase you got Rooney in the end. Rooney is a though deal and we decided to go for that. And we dont know, maybe its a done deal for some time.If we wont get Rooney, and some striker will be available in the market who Jose likes, maybe we'll go for him.I hope there is a plan B somewhere if we do fail to get Rooney on deadline day, but there's not many options. Special Juan 28,760
I hope there is a plan B somewhere if we do fail to get Rooney on deadline day, but there's not many options.if it was any other manager bar Jose I would be worried, that's how confident I am that we will get this done.If not i bet he turns our strike force into goal machines.......that confident on all fronts. The signing of Jose is the biggest by us so far that everyone is talking about him.....they fear him, yet he is our gaffer. Strike 7,784
I was going over FPL and after Van persie , the next most used Striker is Lukaku at 23%.the fantasy thing may be because chelsea have a double gameweek first up and as far as the overall post goes, Lukaku certainly deserves a chance but this is too early to rely the whole striker-department on him. Mouri_Matic 560
So £40m+ £250k per week for Rooney+ other bonuses is a good deal while £53m+£150k per week for Cavani is too much.
Toli 977
^ cavani is earning 9/10 m per year.Rooney should do the same as Bale if he wants to join. just start to rebel and dont participate in the preseason games etc.

Plus, the other 2 striker options - Ba and Torres - are not exactly inspiringSteve Clarke used Romelu in a 3-man attack based on counter-attacking which involved a lot of running with the ball down the channels or through the middle. I doubt he will get such space when playing at Chelsea. Ideally, we'd have a starting striker and mould Romelu into the team this season before he takes over.We shouldn't sign sub-standard strikers just for the sake of it though because Romelu is better than the likes of Benteke etc But if a quality striker is available, Chelsea should act. JayC 171
they had already won the league by thenHaving already won the league had no bearing on that game. It was our managers last in charge - and you can bet your life we were trying to win it. Lukaku simply couldn't be stopped that day. I honestly hope you don't play Lukaku next season as it's a mistake, and will help us. ^ cavani is earning 9/10 m per year.Rooney should do the same as Bale if he wants to join. just start to rebel and dont participate in the preseason games etc.Rooney has been as quiet as a mouse. You have to ask why? It's like you said, he has to make some noise, but he hasn't.
Mouri_Matic 560
Again. How the hell do you know Rooney will be on £250k a week?Because he is not going to take a drop in pay cut when he can earn £250k for 2 more years if he stay. He is a mercenary type, he is not gonna move to us because we have a better project or team. He will move to us because he get to play ST and can still earn the same as he is currently having at MU. If he is main ST again this season instead of RVP he will not demand to leave.
Reddish-Blue 2,669
Again. How the hell do you know Rooney will be on £250k a week?Thats the same as saying how the hell would you know that Rooney is willing to take a paycut to join Chelsea?Alot of people are assuming that Rooney will earn similar wages if he does end up moving from United to Chelsea...but I just don't see Moyes letting go of Rooney.Moyes is yet to make a marquee signing as United boss...letting Rooney leave for 30-35 million doesn't make much sense. Slam Dunk 1,442
Surely he won't make any trouble until he has assurances from United/his agents etc. that they'd actually be able to negotiate a move away.

Magic Lamps 11,692
Rooney has been as quiet as a mouse. You have to ask why? It's like you said, he has to make some noise, but he hasn't. Rooney did not want to move himself, he just wanted to complain and make some noise and pressurize the manager to play him in his favourite position. Now he is scared himself by the prospect of him having to leave to play first-team football. He himself never wanted this to go so far, but was too naive to calculate the consequences. Now he hopes for all to blow over and things somehow fix themselves.

It's hard I know, because I'm guilty of it myself (hoping a player will join) - but people should just get over it. He's not joining Chelsea. Sometimes one has to rephrase one's thoughts for them to be recognized. So what will you make with Rooney? Unhappy player on outrageous wages in a squad role?
